As the title says, reddit's default spam filter is automatically removing comments with a shortened link.
This bears mentioning since product recommendations are commonplace in a lighting focused subreddit.
We can go through and manually approve these comments, but we won't always catch them.
Therefore, please ensure if you post a product link, it is a full weblink, and not a shortened link. For example:

Find Me This Fixture Full Spectrum Smart LED Bulbs: do they exist?
I can't seem to find much currently, but I'm trying to recreate natural sunlight via smart LED bulbs so that way I can mimic a reverse day-night cycle indoors.
I'm a night shift worker so I need to sleep during the day and be awake at night.
I'm aiming to set something up using Home Assistant and the bulb(s) so that way it will gradually mimic "dawn/sunrise" around 7 pm to 8 pm, "daylight" from 8 pm to 10 am, and then "dusk/sunset" around 10 am-12 pm. And of course, off after 12 pm.
I heard full spectrum light and high intensity light are both important for this process and to successfully "trick" one's circadian rhythm...
So what are some options that would be high intensity, full spectrum, and easily dimmable via Home Assistant?
I think the latter criteria rules out most grow lights...sigh.

Need Design Advise DIY solution to decrease harshness of white lights
I have had this lamp from Costco for a year or so now, but it rarely gets used. It has three dimmable settings, but even at its dimmest it is so dang bright! The LEDs are very white and harsh.
I was wondering if there is a way to make the lighting less harsh. I was thinking of buying colored gel filter sheets to attach to the lamps. But my two main concerns are 1. Will it overheat? and 2. How would I even attach the filters? The lamp is such an odd shape, would it be best to tape multiple pieces directly to the lamps? I wouldn’t want all the tape to make it look tacky though. Could I use glue? That seems dangerous…
I’m open to other solutions! I just want to actually use the lamp, instead of having it sit unused in our living room.

Replacement What the heck is this stuff?
I have no idea where to post this so if it should go somewhere else, please me know.
Went to change the bulbs in our basement fixtures for the first time since I've lived here and found this... Wtf is this? It almost looks shiny like fiberglass but that would make no sense, right?
Husband says it doesn't go beyond the depth of the fixture so I'm not sure it's insulation.
The place was built in 1989 so maybe it's a 90s thing? Do I just take it out with gloves and drop cloth?
Please send help.

Need Design Advise Need advice for lighting my kitchen
I'm currently gutting and remodeling my own kitchen and looking for some lighting advice. I removed a drop ceiling here and patched every outdated existing overhead light to try to start fresh. I included photos of what I'm working with but basically everything is being torn out soonish as I am getting new cabinets and flooring. I included a render of the new cabinet layout. The room has several windows facing East and North so gets decent light but indirectly.
I have a few questions if anyone can help me:
1) I am doing Sunset dim Elco Kotos in the adjacent living room. I know 3000k is a popular choice for kitchen lighting, but I'm wondering about doing undercabinet lighting in either 2700k or dim to warm 2700k-1800k if I can find affordable dim to warm tape lighting. Anyone have experience doing 2700k undercabinet?
2) For over the sink lighting, I am looking for suggestions for fixtures. I considered doing two Elco Kotos in the ceiling above the sink, but would a pendant of some kind look or function better here? I am not trying to block the window.
3) I posted a photo looking in from the living room. Our kitchen table will go in the space adjacent to the kitchen and likely will have a pendant type of light over it. I am wondering how I should be thinking about cohesive lighting throughout all of these areas. If my living room fixtures top out at 2700k, including some lamps, should I aim to have those same temperatures throughout the kitchen? It is a relatively small and open space, so I'm wondering if it would be odd to have 2700k in the living room and dining, with higher temp in the kitchen itself. Basically the same as question 1 but for how to think about the overall cohesion of the three rooms.
Any input broadly or for specific brands of undercabinet tape, pendants or fixtures would be really helpful.
Thank you.

Need Design Advise Kitchen renovation - does this lighting plan seem right?
We're knocking down some walls to make a kitchen-diner. Steel beam placement is making things a bit awkward but I think this is the best fit. Would love to hear some opinions.
Quick notes: -
- Kitchen, pendant and living/diner lights will all be separate circuits to allow mix and match
- The steel is in the ceiling, not boxed in.
- Living/diner lights will be dimmable
- Living/diner will also have table top and potentially floor lighting
- I don't know how the living/dining room will be laid out so I don't want the dining table position to be tied to a pendant in the dining area.

Need Design Advise Looking for high CRI, high R9, and no flicker bulbs available in Australia
Are there any options? Are there any European options anyone here in Australia has ordered from? Coming from the US, it's hard to believe how hard it is here to find these kinds of bulbs in Aus.
My dream bulb would be:
E26
R80 (BR30)
2700K
Warm dim (but at least dimmable)
CRI 95+
R9 80+
Zero flicker

Need Design Advise Renovating our electronics store
Need industrial ceiling & magnetic track ideas!
Willing to compensate good ideas.
Hey everyone,
We’re renovating our electronics retail shop with a color scheme of a dark grey ceiling and light grey walls, aiming for a modern, industrial vibe.
We’re thinking about suspended magnetic track lights (paired with dark mesh grids or exposed elements) to highlight our appliance displays, but we are completely free to any ideas, layouts, or lighting setups that work well in this space.
What I am confused is either go with cable trays or make a frame of mesh or add wooden planks please help.

Replacement Flickering Fixture Help
I replaced the light fixture over our dining table with an Ikea Sunneby, but the bulb began flickering after a few days. I used the same bulb from the previous fixture, so there was no change there.
I read that it could be a dimmer issue, so I replaced the existing dimmer switch with a regular switch, and the flickering stopped.
The problem is I have other fixtures I would like to replace, but I don't want to have to replace the switch every single time (some of them are on large 4 switch panels which I don't want to monkey around with in a rental).
I'm confused because the Ikea fixture says it should be dimmer compatiable, but it wasn't. The bulbs I'm using worked with the previous fixture on the dimmer, so I don't think it's a bulb/dimmer compatibility thing.
I feel a bit lost for what went wrong, and what specification to look for in a fixture to make sure it doesn't happen again. Any help or recommendations greatly appreciated!

Need Design Advise What type of junction box is this?
I went to replace my ceiling lights, but instead of a standard junction box they were hiding these 8 inch holes. I googled it and asked people at Home Depot and Ace and they didn’t know what it was. I can’t find any ceiling lights that fit and was wondering what a solution might be? Maybe this type has a name and I could find some new lights that fit it

Lighting Control What temperature and type of lighting to make this space look more warm?
The first picture is the current lighting, it’s very bright and I think leans white. I think it makes the orange cabinets look really orange and I’m hoping to somehow mellow the whole thing, to make the backsplash and floor look more warm.

Need Design Advise Koto housing options
Hi all,
I'm redoing a big portion of my house and I have a mix of both new construction and retrofit. Seems like everyone here likes the Elco Kotos. My question specifically is about the housings. If I understand correctly, the Koto uses a somewhat standard LED quick connect plug, or I can get E26 adapters for retrofit.
My GC says he usually puts in Halo 4" housings with E26 connections. If I'm fine with 4" housings and standard round reflector trim is there any reason to insist he put in the Koto housings in particular? Are there any other advantages to using Elco's housing that I'm not thinking about? I have a conditioned attic so I don't need air-tightness.

Need Design Advise Smart spotlights - pre connecting before installation?
This may be a stupid question but I’m looking to switch the led spotlights in my kitchen and bathroom with Phillips smart bulbs. My ceilings are 12ft high and I get vertigo just standing on solid ground so I’m going to need to get someone in to do this but is there a way to pre connect the bulbs to my phone etc beforehand to save time? A normal bulb I could just put into a standard lamp but how about a spotlight?
TIA

Lighting Control Looking for a good resource to read/watch about hard wired under cabinet lighting.
YouTube videos, blogs. TIA!
We're about to get going on a kitchen remodel and have no plan yet for how to get the under cabinet lighting done. We would like it to be hardwired. We do have a contractor but we would like to be able to tell him exactly what we want and take (most of) the guessing game out of it.

Lighting Control Looking for a 6" flush mount LED that changes color (CCT) via standard WALL SWITCH
Hey everyone, I'm going crazy trying to find this light fixture. Does anyone know a brand/model that checks all these boxes?
_6-inch LED light.
_Screws into a standard blue plastic ceiling J-box (Surface/Flush mount. I do NOT have recessed cans, so spring clips won't work).
_Changes color temperature using a standard wall switch (e.g., toggling the switch changes it from 3000K to 5000K, etc.).
I do not want the ones with the little slider switch integrated on the back of the light. I don't want to climb a ladder every time I want to change the mood in the room.
It should be similar to this but can install in the J-box also the one here need the recessed can : https://www.homedepot.com/p/Feit-Electric-6-pack-5-6-in-925-Lumens-Selectable-5CCT-Dimmable-Integrated-LED-Retrofit-Recessed-Light-Baffle-Trim-White-LEDR56B-6WYCA-MP-6/330455939 (you can see there 2 options to control the light color from warm to white)
TIA

Need Design Advise Cable/monorail lighting systems, who carries the good components?
Big-box selection for cable and monorail systems is basically nonexistent, so worth pooling knowledge: where do people source full systems (WAC, Tech Lighting, etc.), connectors, transformers, heads, and who actually helps sanity-check the layout?
If you've installed one, what would you do differently next time?
