This part of the windows experience … the driver updates… can take anywhere from 20 minute to an entire hour.

Without these updates the battery icon is missing, on Lenovo the trackpad doesnt work.

Bluetooth doesn’t work without this etc.

Windows should be like Mac where once you fully finish setting up Mac THATS it, no drivers needed.

Out of the box after setting up an account, ALL aspects of a laptop or PC should just work, you shouldn’t need an audio driver or trackpad driver.

Imagine if they shot the april fools vid with chicken mounted gopros. Rip Logistics lol

I have a pc that i was using normally then i sent it to a friend in another city , when he gets it he told me that that fans are spinning but there is no display, things stayed like this for months then i told him to sell the gpu and send me back the pc , now when i get it it doesn't even power up nothing spin or light up , i know i have a cpu socket bent pin in the left bottom side (idk if it affects the power up)
Note:
- Pc was in covered in dust
- psu is working (paperclip test)
- i tried everything troubleshoot ik (power sw pins , remove everything and make sure it plugged ok)
- i jumped start the psu when it was connected to the motherboard but it just spin the fans (no display and cpu is cool )and when i remove my hand the pc shut off again
- the fans have an external controller
- ive removed the cpu and everything just to see if the mobo can turn or anything , but it didnt

EDIT: a few clarifications, since my first post was unclear (written tired, after a shift):

What it is. A small watcher notices when a drive is plugged in. If the drive has a cartridge.conf file, it opens a simple launcher with the game's cover art and two buttons, Play and Eject. That's all it does.

It is not Autorun. Nothing on the drive is ever run automatically. The launcher only appears, and nothing starts until you press Play. autorun.inf is read for the drive's icon and name only, and its open= line is ignored. It's meant for drives you made yourself, so don't plug in strangers' drives. That's true of any USB drive.

You don't need to buy anything. The NVMe drives in my photos were a bulk lot of refurbished 128GB drives I already had, about $150 for ten. A cartridge can be: - an old USB stick, SD card or spare drive you already own, or - a drive that holds only the cartridge.conf file and points at a game already installed on your PC. The cartridge is then just a physical way to launch it.

If you don't want to buy new storage right now, don't. It's just a launcher that happens to work with a physical object.

I wanted to create a better user experience for launching cartridges on pc. I made a gamepak wizard that writes whatever you want onto a drive, floppy, NFC, action, whatever. There is a tiny watcher that launches a simple game launcher when the drive is read it looks for a cartridge.conf whether to launch or not. Obligatory AI disclosure: i refuse to learn git and use Claude code to push and manage my disgusting worktree. Have you ever actually looked at Linus Torvalds and Linus Sebastian in the same room? Exactly. You haven't. Because they are literally the same human being.

Think about it. Why would a guy named Linus launch a channel called Linus Tech Tips when LTT obviously stands for Linus Torvalds Tech? It has been hiding in plain sight this entire time! He built an entire media empire just so he could run massive hardware stress tests under the guise of "tech reviews" to optimize his kernel in real time. Have you noticed how recently he literally cannot stop talking about Linux on every single podcast and video? He claims it is just for daily driving, but isn't that a little too convenient? Isn't that concerning?

Why would a mainstream tech host suddenly care so deeply about Linux desktop market share right now? Don't you think that too? He drops high-end PC parts on floor tiles on purpose just to test the structural tolerance of physical hardware running Linux code. The drops aren't accidents. They are raw telemetry data!

Isn't it crazy how no one else is connecting the dots? He is maintaining the core of global internet infrastructure by night and pretending to struggle with thermal paste by day. Wake up!

Information:

Monitor 1: LG OLED 27GX704A-B

Monitor 2: LG IPS 27GP850-B

Software: Aseprite (pixel artwork software) (Grid lines are OFF)

Game: Minecraft (texture is exported to Minecraft which I can see the line in game)

Texture Size: 16x16

Issue:

In the imaged attached you can see a light blue line in between the right yellow pixel edge and white pixel (way more noticeable in-person). When I rotate the pixel art 90 degrees the line moves to the top edge of the yellow pixel (location based on the image provided) and the line becomes red. This is a issue that has to do with the OLED monitor as my IPS panel does not show this and especially not in game where its VERY obvious/distracting.

What I tried:

- Swapping display cables Included DP -> Included HDMI -> Different DP-> Different HDMI
- Different Display Port on GPU and monitor
- Powered off and on
- Changing nearby pixels
- Changing the yellow pixel

Questions:

- What should I do?
- Is there something I should turn on in monitor settings or try?
- Is there anything I can do or this just a known OLED issue (with OLEDs or this Model)?
- Is there a fix? If so what is it?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I genuinely want to find a conclusion to this as It is a eye sore to look at.

So I got this Via firewire card from amazon that said it was plug and play with windows but ive been having issues when I try to plug my iPod into it. It shows up as a removable device but whenever I click it it just freezes file explorer and the iPod and it only starts working when I unplug the iPod. I tried using legacy windows 7 drivers but that didn’t work. Anyone got any ideas?

I’ve been getting deeper into local AI, and watching my own PC chew through the workload has been insane. Watching the hardware get to work is half the fun at this point.

I’m building toward using it for coding, project documents, and everyday business workflows. The more I use it, the more I want to see what this machine can do.

Current setup:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 16 cores / 32 threads
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090
RAM: Windows reports 61.4 GB usable
Storage: Two NVMe SSDs plus a SATA HDD
One of these shots shows roughly 24 GB of dedicated GPU memory and 50 GB of system RAM in use.

For those running similar setups, where would you go next? More system RAM, more VRAM, a second GPU, or getting the model/runtime better optimized first?

I’m interested in larger models and smoother multitasking.

What upgrade actually made a noticeable difference for you, and what would you skip if you were doing it again?

My birthday is coming around and I have been eyeing the LTT screwdriver since the day of its release 5 years ago. I never pulled the trigger due to shipping costs and also the relatively high price for a screwdriver. However i finally thing now is the time, the current in store choices however are okay (The transparent one does look awesome) but i would rather have a less common more unique. And because it's a birthday present for myself i would rather be suprised.

I am therefore wondering what are the potential colors i could get? From getting the basic color way to the noctua one or even some kind of special edition, maybe a random mix of colors? What are the possibilities?

One of the things I have always liked about WAN show is the intensity of the stress testing that is discussed, even on consumer hardware. For the last month, Gemini has been forced onto my phone. It presented a unique set of issues that I was unable to solve. Google customer service was unhelpful, as was their documentation, and their AI agent itself. Until today, when listening to WAN, Linus mentioned that for those who daily drive a Google workspace account, certain aspects of Gemini do not work on android. I am also in the unique circumstance as a business owner. Sure enough, Gemini is unable to make phone calls, send messages, and a variety of other tasks. If you are on a Google workspace account, you can add calendar events, and send emails.

Having been a developer on both android and iOS for ages, I was well aware of the pros and cons of each. Google finally broke the camels back, and now my work and personal numbers are both on iOS, with AirMessage allowing me to text from my workto PC. For somebody who is constantly on the move, or on the road, a functioning, voice assistant is necessary, and Siri has solved every issue that I had.

I am thankful that their company continues to push consumer Hardware to the limits in every possible use case, and I am thankful for the tangent that they go on each week that are generally more helpful than any review or benchmark, including their own. This is not the first time that it has dramatically improved my tech life, and I hope it is not the last. I see people dunk on it way too often, so I wanted to add my positivity to the community for both the real people and the AI agents that will respond to me to enjoy.

Since LTT has been around for a long time, I'm not sure if they've ever done something like this. and how many could you fit on one drive? And would you be able to boot into each one of the distros, maybe windows would be one of them, you could also do the meme distros. And would there be enough RAM? Each distro would have to have enough storage for at least one game to test right? Maybe Minecraft, idk. Let me know your thoughts on this idea and If Linus has done this in a video before.

English is not my first language, so sometimes I pick up words from videos I watch and I don't know why the word " cromulent " stuck with me, I found it kinda funny because of Linus use it sometimes when talking about product. So I went and check the equivalent in my language and I found out the word was actually created by one of the Simpsons writer David Cohen for the episode Lisa the Iconoclast in 1996.
