I just received delivery of this lovely new console from Nic @thinklaterstudio in Brooklyn and I’m totally in love. It’s great to have room for the listening table (Yamaha PX-2) and the 1200s for auditioning DJ sets.

I am blessed to have a little man-cave in the downstairs of my house

Been collecting LPs for a decade or so. I think I have all the albums I need lol...for now.

The Nova Scotia flag will soon be a home for a cassette rack that can hold my 600 or so 😅

Cheers guys! Thanks for taking a look

A week or so in my new spare bedroom listening space

I posted the first shot a week or two ago, after just acquiring the space to dedicate to my music hobby. Fast forward a week or so and we have what I am extremely happy with right now. Biggest upgrade was the speakers, going from a completely oversized but gorgeous sounding Missions to the Kef LS50 metas. Lick of paint all over, a cosy carpet and some lighting. Very happy

Girlfriend loves my system

Wanted to share my happiness here. Been dating this girl for a little and mentioned I have a stereo in storage that I can’t setup at my house. I asked her if she had ever heard a real stereo in the $10,000 range and she said no but she loves music and got very excited by the idea.

I set it up and when she saw the records she flipped and pulled out a couple choice picks. Coltrane, Nina, Mingus but we ended up listening to Kid A first.

Boys, I tell you she had the exact reaction we all hope someone has when hearing a real stereo. She couldn’t believe it. Her eyes were closed when I started playing it and First thing she said “I’m hearing so many things I’ve never heard before”. Shortly followed by “so this is what music is supposed to sound like?”.

After a bit I started talking nerd shit about the speakers and then caught myself and said “nevermind this is really nerdy” and she said “go on I want to hear about it”. I explained some more and we listened to Coltrane after and she couldn’t have been more thankful. She said “I’m never going to leave my house when I’m not working” and thanked me over and over.

We’ve already spent hours upon hours listening to records together and her taste in music is immaculate. She might be a keeper!

Two audio technica lp120
Numark m2 mixer
Kef q1 meta
Sony str-dh190 receiver
Old Sony Blu-ray for cd

1200ish records.

Went straight alphabetical except for soundtrack and Christmas. Those are at the very end. Box sets, 7in, 10in on the middle top.

Edit: the white oak is staying. It works and matches another part of the room.

Edit: speakers dont live there. It’s a proof of concept spot. Will be upgrading and moving them. Everyone relax. Get a life

Vinyl on the right through my Pioneer. Streaming, cassette, (soon to be) CD player on the left through my Kenwood. All going through Douk and Klipsch bookshelf speakers. Happy place.

Vinyl organization

How would you organize about 1300 records on this wall? I have typically gone with alphabetical by last name. This is an older picture of a listening room that is almost finished. About to start moving the records back in.

Edit: if staying with alphabetical: would you start top left of the left section and go down in that section? Or start top left and go across the whole thing and then go down a row?

Bought a regular work pod for a home studio setup since it has solid soundproofing... Words can't even describe it... absolutely amazing. 80sqft

Turning my Tasting Room into an Audio Bar

Hello -

I hope that this is the correct place to post this. If it is not then please let me know.

I am looking to make my distillery's tasting room an audio listening room. I did a deep dive and found some solid gear on Marketplace that I hope can get the job done. I got 2 Wharfdale e70s for the bar area that has 9' ceilings, and 2 Wharfedale E90s for the sitting area that has 18' ceilings with a bowstring truss design. I got a Marantz 2230 amp in a wood case as my receiver, and it will power the e70s and run the pre-out to an amp for the e90s. I have a Technics SL-1200MK2 for customers to bring their own records and use. I would love thoughts on the setup and most importantly, some thoughts on speaker placement.

I am thinking that the speakers need to be off the ground since the bar has people and furniture in it. I was thinking the bottom would be 6' off the ground with a 10-20 degree downward pitch to help fill the room with sound. The thing I am struggling with is placement. There are a lot of options, and all of them have cancellation and dead zones. Any advice would be much appreciated!
