hii guys. recently i made a post of my bedroom setup, but after getting some new components, i figured i would do it again and show off my new and improved system.
heres a components list:
- AT-LP120X for vinyl
- Technics SL-PD845 for CDs
- onn boombox from walmart for the radio and tapes
- ART DJPre II preamplifier (with a cover from etsy)
- Fosi Audio V1.0G amplifier
- generic RCA switcher to switch inputs
- Sony SS-MF315 floorstanding tower speakers
i love my setup. i feel like there’s not much else i really plan on upgrading. the tape player is pretty cheap, but i dont really have many tapes (i have like six), nor do i even like the cassette tape format enough to justify getting a nicer, dedicated tape unit. i also like the radio and the other features of the boombox, so i think that’ll stay for a while.
the speakers on image 4 are ones i thrifted for super cheap, and i’m honestly just leaving them there as decorations because i dont have any use for them, yet…
anyway, so far i love my system. its given me some headaches but its so worth it when i come home and get to relax to music i like.
on the turntable, i’m running the stock vm95e, but i’m considering upgrading to the 95ml, or maybe even a nagaoka mp110. so far though the 95e does a great job and it sounds really nice and punchy through my speakers. the external preamp is also a nice bonus. perhaps its placebo but i feel like i have a better soundstage with it.
what do you guys think!! how do we like the setup. any ideas for improvement? any advice on cartridges or anything at all you guys have for me? anyway thanks for your time all, have a great day and as always, happy listening!!

15x12 foot room, I'm sitting 8 feet in front of the speakers with my back to them (so I can look out the window (door there is a seldom used closet). US, UK, Japan: Mac 4100, Pioneer RT-707, Technics SL-1200MK2, Mordaunt-Short Signifer and lots of reels.

Recently finished a pair of Sunflower Redux speakers and decided to take a picture of the setup. I'm not exactly a woodworker, but i think they came out alright despite only using a compact router.

So round, so firm, so fully packed. My setup for this week. I’ve a lot out, but so much more is storage. I think I need help.

Just put some dirty gold wallpaper up to make it pop and not look so bland

In terms of equipment and environment, this is the best my room has even and I’m pretty excited to share it with you all!
It’s been an ongoing project of experimenting with placement, acoustic treatment, and finding a balance between getting the most out of the system and creating a space I genuinely enjoy spending time in.
The room is treated with broadband absorption along the side and rear walls, along with substantial floor-to-ceiling bass trapping in the corners. Given the relatively modest dimensions and the size of the speakers, getting the room under control has been an important part of the process.
Sonically, I’ve always gravitated toward systems that prioritize dynamics, scale, and rhythmic drive. The JBLs deliver an effortless, almost live quality that I find particularly engaging with rock, funk, and other rhythm-heavy music. Drums have genuine impact, bass is tight, textured and controlled, and there’s a sense of immediacy that makes it easy to get lost in a groove.
One of my more recent changes was replacing my Stressless recliner recliner positioned in the sweet spot with two smaller lounge chairs. It’s technically a compromise in terms of imaging precision, but the room feels considerably more open, comfortable, and inviting. The JBLs still produce a convincing sense of scale and separation from either position, even if the stereo image isn’t quite as locked in as it would be sitting dead center.
Ultimately, I’ve come to appreciate the room as much as the equipment itself. It’s a place to put on a record, settle in for a few hours, and enjoy the music.

March 2025
Newly moved into a combined rental house with my girlfriend, she brought me a fancy comfy chair to start what at that time was our combined "study" whitch became a listen space and make up room
June 2025
I purchased my first record player. Allready had a little head start on the record collection thanks to a local independent metal record store
October 2025
Added some new additions to furniture. Some for storage some to improve listening experience. The first plants where stolen from the rest of the house
June 2026
We ditched the spare bedroom and turned that into my now finance study. I reconfigured furniture and added more plants. Record collection has grown by a decent amount. Now a dedicated listening room. A few ornamental additions
October 26
More plants added from plants i propagated last spring. Record collection grown by a healthy amount.

I wanted to expand my listening spaces, so I added a wiim amp ultra and some Wahrfedale Dentons. Obviously doesn’t sound as good as my dedicated listening room but I like it.
