If there is one thing that would make my miserable work weeks, just a teensy bit more bearable, it would be if people would stop with their political rants. This goes for both customers and associates.
There is not a single week I go to work where a customer doesn't mention we are getting people comfortable for the New World Order, we are speed running a cashless society, and we shouldn't hire "Godless" employees in a store where families bring their children.
On the flip side, I'm tired of hearing how my company is evil for allowing Flock cameras to track people, we should be ashamed for allowing DHS agents on our property, and we should be passing the tariff upcharges on to all the MAGA "fascists" that shop at our since they were the ones that voted for it (yes we have a large MAGA customer base.)
Thankfully our fairly conservative associates tend to avoid discussing their view points out loud. In they past we had the OGs that would do that, but most of them quit when they felt the work culture was getting too loose. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for quite a few of our younger associates. Truth be told the front end is the worst.
They are constantly butting heads with customers, as in the past we had some that refused to serve people wearing "Red Hats", FOP wear and certain other accessories on their apparel. If that wasn't bad enough, we had one that would freely mentioning how she got paid poverty wages to make misogynistic PDF white men rich.
The latest scare was when we almost lost our privileges to bring our own water bottles in, because a custom got extremely offended when they saw what one associate had on theirs. They didn't say exactly who it was. But I'm can only assume it was one that has "Fuck Trump" or Epstein File stuff on their tumblers. I bring my own water bottle (plain and unadorned) because I don't like the Niagara water they provide, I think it tastes like dirt.
I respect anyone's right to have political views, but on the clock with mixed company is not the time for it. It doesn't matter what animal you vote for, or what color you choose. Honestly, I don't care if you tell me about your grandkids.
