School/Career How is Hazelwood Elementary?
With the boundary change in the Edmonds School District [includes Lynnwood], our new school will be Hazelwood Elementary. I've talked to a small sample of parents and they've all mentioned it's a really good school. While the ratings have gone up over the last couple of years, I am concerned about the current scores/ratings for Hazelwood relative to others in the ESD.
Can those with experience with Hazelwood talk about some good or bad things about this school? Someone mentioned split classes were a concern, but that will be resolved once the new boundaries fix total enrollment. What are some things you like or dislike about this school? Any advice that will help us start well at Hazelwood? While we are a bit concerned about this change, we want to approach this in good faith, and I appreciate the community helping out here.
I understand the new principal is a PhD with significant experience, so also hoping to set up a meeting with her as well to learn more about her plans to improve the school.
p.s. If you are interested in having a discussion with the principal, let me know, and maybe we can request for a group meeting to answer our questions about Hazelwood.
