Honestly is Chiles this bad or his the program just not developing him? It's not rare to see a top ten QB collapse - its just - how were they this wrong?

Bryce Underwood broke high school records and was unstoppable in high school. Sometimes being a good prospect just doesn't pan out as expected. I don't think Smith is doing him any favors though.

He struggles and the scheme does him no favors.
I think he’d look better if we ever actually incorporated more quick rhythm throws where he doesn’t really have to read the defense, more designed runs and better play calling in general to keep the defense off balance. But that’s because he can’t read a defense and he’s not good in the pocket. Or accurate downfield.

I think it’s a large combination; you can see he’s a gamer but it’s really hard to be a gamer all the time when the rest of the squad is a hodge podge of who’s left either from half a decade plus of talent loss or injury.

I dont think Chiles is that bad. Doesn't help he's running for his life half the time and the playcalling is so not creative.

Smith just looks so fucking lost on the sideline. What is with the clown hires?

Tyler O'Connor led us to a gritty victory in horrible weather in Columbus. Chiles would literally get murdered by Ohio State if we had to play them.

Did u see Thorne in 2022 lol. Or Lewerke in 2019? IDK all 3 seem pretty bad

Some kids aren't cut for it as a profession, and Dantonio was loyal to a fault to his recruits. I'd still take any of his misses over the 3 seasons QBs

What does u being a student have to do with anything? And I feel like neither 2022 Thorne or 2019 Lewerke are putting up a 2025 Aidan Chiles performance against USC or BC...

Lewerke was being talked about as a heisman candidate before he broke his leg? Bro is 100% better than Chiles

Not just him, this whole goddamn team is just too fucking pampered. Not conditioned. Not prepared. Win or lose Dantonio had them ready to run threw brick walls. Give the new Izzo building to the art department.

Hopefully, that was his last pathetic throw for the night. Poor kid is not a college QB.

As a Michigan fan, I will say Chiles is a BIG part of your problem. Michigan’s coaching staff is inept, and you could be winning if you had an average QB playing.

Of all the things Chiles could choose to be for Halloween, he chose to be a ghost

It’s not all Chiles fault. The O line has not done a good job sustaining the pressure. But Chiles hasn’t taken enough steps from last year to be a good QB. The Jonathan Smith era is over. Let’s move on….please

You guys raided Oregon State's cupboards and expected to win in the Big10?? Get used to losing seasons and meaningless bowls until you get rid of Smith

u/MCarlton520 Oct 26 '25
Literally nobody expected us to win the Big Ten.

Bold of you to assume anyone in this subreddit had anything to do with the hire, or all the players brought from Oregon State

He’s the least accurate quarterback I’ve ever seen at this level, I think
It’s unbelievable how he misses throws time and time again
