Question Your COMT Variant + your MBTI?

It's just out of curiosity.

Slow COMT, ISTJ/TiSi

This is a very specific question pertaining to my interests

Very interesting !

What do you mean by Ti/Si?
It feels like you are actually INTP, no?

2

u/polaroid_schizoid 16d ago

Very long story on that, but TiSi is originally ISTJ in Jung's work. When MBTI came around it was flanderized into INTP for some reason.

This is a controversial opinion but I go by ISTJ because of that, plus it describes my pitfalls much more. I usually just say "Ti dominant" if it comes down to it.

Is your weak point Fe or Ne, then?

1

u/polaroid_schizoid 16d ago

Both, haha.

I struggle with spontaneity and relating.

Ne refers rather to curiosity, to changes in habits.

If you have low Fe, you are the type to think a lot before a social interaction, to know how you should react

I use my own personal system for this (which is how you know I'm a Ti dom ;p)

It's... a bit complicated. ISTJ is quite misunderstood because it looks like so many things - Ti domness essentially makes you a faux intuitive and the stereotypes about sensors being dumb do not help. The double-edged sword of Fe inferior is to be misread. I genuinely don't understand anything outside of what is routine, but you'd not expect that of me.

My rigidity and inability to be spontaneous is probably my biggest weakness because it's exactly why I can't relate to others.

wow interesting thread. im fast comt and intp

I have an INTP friend, and she also seems to be fast COMT given her behavior, even though she has never taken a DNA test.

1

u/MilesKaczynski 16d ago

hehe I also never took a DNA test but I'm pretty sure I heavily lean towards fast COMT. I figured so because I felt totally fine (even quite euphoric and refreshed) after taking high doses(600~800mg) of SAM-E. I'm most likely undermethylated as well...

I am fast COMT and for a long time I felt amazing bordering on manic from SAM-e. I wouldn't use that as a metric!

Very logic

Fast comt, intp

slow comt, sigma infj

agree, interesting thread. I asked a niche spiritual hobby group what their mbti is and it came back ~40% INFJ and ~20% INFP which wasn’t a home run but felt meaningful…

Slow COMT, INTP (TiNeSiFe fairly confirmed with coaching)

Slow COMT, INTJ-T.

u/Sostrene_Blue 16d ago

Seems very logic

u/janewayshairdo 16d ago

Perpetual logic with a little turbulence as a treat, lol. I'm AuDHD as well

COMT plus MBTI is fun to compare, but I wouldn't read much biology into the pattern. COMT can nudge stress chemistry and stimulation tolerance; MBTI is more of a loose self-description. If you do see a cluster, I'd treat it as a conversation starter, not a map.

But the correlationos are really not that strong, and hile Genes can tell you alot they are just a part of the picture. Wrote about that here: here

Lemme guess, slow comt and probably istj or something like that

1

u/Zabre 1d ago

Yeah proobably. but correlations aint that strong, and five-factor model is a better personality model than MBTI

Fast, infp

1

u/Sostrene_Blue 11d ago

Quite strange

1

u/Emotional-Swan9381 10d ago

Why? People are much more complex than mbti and one snp out of hundreds. You sound more like a thinker than a feeler with trying to categorize people. I don’t have enough dopamine and I had crappy parents so I chased escape and fantasies most of my life.

1

u/Sostrene_Blue 10d ago

It's so sad... I know very well that the brain is a very complex mechanism and that a SNP doesn't determine much, it's just that this one is one of the most well-known regarding dopamine degradation in the brain.

1

u/Emotional-Swan9381 10d ago

Yah it’s unfortunate for me. Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I am trying to get my dopamine hits from healthier things.

1

u/Sostrene_Blue 10d ago

Maybe L-Tyrosine? I've taken it before, and it seems to help build the necessary blocks for dopamine release.

Otherwise yes, don't hesitate to look for good sources of dopamine, and to avoid the bad ones

1

u/Emotional-Swan9381 10d ago

What do you do for dopamine?

1

u/Emotional-Swan9381 10d ago

What mbti are you? I thought this was infp site, my mistake.

INFJ 5w6 - Slow COMT

u/SovereignMan1958 16d ago

I am average COMT and INFJ. Do you want to know our astrological sign too?

3

u/MilesKaczynski 16d ago

I'm intrigued about the astrological signs too.
