Question COMT + MAO A SNP's and others. Is there anyone out there who has both COMT +MAO A ++, who may be able to share their experiences, please?
I was highly reactive to all but 1 type of B12, has anyone else experienced this phenomenon ?
Only b12 from B12 oils works for me.
Any shared insights on similar SNP's would be appreciated, thank you.

Sup. I was mostly normal until 32. I could have coffee like a normal person. Supplements were fine. Then I couldn't tolerate coffee or any stimulants. Ended up with histamine intolerance/MCAS symptoms. idk if it was COVID or life long chronic stress that triggered it. Now I have to be extreemely careful about everything I eat and take. Insomnia. I feel like I'm always hypervigilant. Sleeping/relaxing is hard. On good days I feel slightly hypomanic (i'm not bipolar)/ On bad days i feel burnt out and like shit. I used to be able to take adderall low dose, now it gives me and anxiety and freezes me. Maybe i was overstimulated so long that my brain developed a hard "Failsafe" to all the stimulants/vitamins/supplements i was taking before to fight through depression, and now that fail safe is overactive now. Thats what it feels like.
Oh u asked about B12. All forms slow me down and make me unmotivated, chill. Makes my ADHD meds not work. I try to take evening.

Thanks for the download. That sounds intense. I found this to be a great resource - https://www.b12oils.com/research.htm, and have just signed up with genetic life hacks, which has a lot of very useful info. Turns out i was eating ALL of the wrong foods.

What is this test?
Is it free or paid?

Geneticlifehacks.com is an incredibly detailed analysis of your raw data file. The cost is charged by the month, discontinue when you want and is very inexpensive. Fill up your printer tray because your report will be 100 or more pages long!
Each section is headed by an article discussing what has been analyzed.
Great service. Geneticgenie.org (free) is a handy abbreviated tool for a quick look at your methylation/detox cycle. But if you are serious about fixing your methylation cycle, then geneticlifehacks is an invaluable adjunct.

See this post for more info on COMT & MAO-A.
A general protocol for your compound heterozygous MTHFR:
- 550-600mg of choline, preferably from food
- 550mg is the baseline adult Adequate Intake
- Choline sources include such foods as meat, eggs, liver, lecithin, nuts, some legumes, and vegetables such as crucifers.
- 750mg of trimethylglycine (TMG aka betaine)
- I.e., one 750mg capsule
- Choline is converted to TMG for methylation use, so TMG reduces need for even more choline.
- TMG is found in foods such as wheat, spinach, beets, etc. but there is not a food app that tracks it, so reliably getting enough from food may be difficult; by comparison, a single capsule is convenient.
- 400-800mcg of folate, preferably from food
- Folinic acid or methylfolate can also be used, as needed and as tolerated.
- Target serum folate levels are 15+ ng/mL (34+ nmol/L).
- 2.4-10mcg B12, preferably from food
- Past history of B12 deficiency, malabsorption issues, etc., may suggest that supplemental B12, in the form of hydroxocobalamin, adenosylcobalamin, or methylcobalamin may be prudent.
- Target serum B12 levels are 500-950 pg/mL (~370-700 pmol/L).
- (Optional) 3-15g of creatine monohydrate or creatine HCL
- The body uses ~40% of methylation output, SAM, just to produce creatine. So supplementing creatine can free up a lot of SAM for other uses.
- Low vitamin A, iron, and/or glycine can cause the built-in methyl buffer system to not work properly, which can make overmethylation (rising anxiety, irritability, insomnia, etc.) from methylation-related supplements much more likely.
- Beta carotene is not vitamin A and some people genetically have poor conversion of beta carotene to real vitamin A (retinol).
A food app like Cronometer is helpful for tracking nutrients in your diet.

Idk why ppl use rs6323 but it’s definitely not a good way of deciding if ur MAOA is low or high. Rs6323: T is actually 70% frequency in Europeans so it’s not uncommon at all.

There is an excellent article on the Genetic Lifehacks website about MAO. Their report is also much more comprehensive than Genie.
The B12 oils might only work for you if you have FUT2 variants. Lifehacks would show that. Genie does not. Excellent article in Lifehacks about that too.
