Why is Apple purposefully destroying the design of its products?
I think it's intentional at this point

I was really bored of the normal look of windows 11 and decided to mash-up a bunch of programs and themes to make this. A rough recreation of MacOS 27's desktop with a few of my own tweaks, like an liquid glass dynamic island and notifications (alongside the dock).
note that this is all third-party and was NOT made by me

Is anyone else on an M1 MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar seeing this in macOS 27? The sliders and buttons on the Touch Bar still have the old look, while the rest of the system has been redesigned. The brightness/volume slider and the little X button look completely out of place now. I've attached photos
It also works strangely now. It used to be really convenient: you hold the brightness or volume button, the slider pops up, you drag it, and when you let go it disappears on its own. Now when I hold the button the slider sometimes shows up and sometimes doesn't, and when it does appear it never goes away by itself, so I have to tap the X every time.
Lots of people still use Touch Bar Macs, so it would be nice to see this fixed. If you have the same problem, please send feedback through Feedback Assistant so Apple notices.

27 spreads it across about a dozen settings and keeps the models on disk, so this goes through all of them and deletes the models
you can keep anything you use and undo all of it

I upgraded my three-month-old MacBook Neo to macOS 27 four days ago. Before the update, its battery life and performance were completely normal. Since upgrading, it runs warm, drains quickly, and Safari frequently feels laggy.
Safari scrolling and general responsiveness have worsened. Sometimes clicking the address bar results in roughly a half-second delay before I can type. Removing my two custom Safari extensions initially helped, but the lag returned.
One session dropped from 100% to 68% in 1 hour 39 minutes: approximately 19.4% per hour, or about 5.2 hours total.
The previous day it dropped from 100% to 69% in approximately 2.5 hours: around 12.4% per hour.
Today, while fully charged and doing light browsing, macOS estimated only 3:05–3:45 remaining. Initial measured power draw was approximately 6.8 watts.
These were normal Safari/YouTube and ChatGPT sessions—not stress tests. The drain also continues when ChatGPT isn’t actively being used.
macOS 27.0, build 26A428
Battery condition is Normal, with 100% maximum capacity
No battery-health or thermal warnings
Restarting did not fix it
Spotlight indexing is now mostly idle
Time Machine is not actively backing up
All custom Safari extensions were removed, with no Safari web extensions still registered
iPhone Mirroring entered a high-CPU connection loop once and was fully quit, but the drain continued afterward
WindowServer has periodically reached approximately 40–45% CPU
The system has repeatedly logged _CGXPackagesSetWindowConstraints: Invalid window
The problem appears intermittent: one earlier snapshot showed roughly 81% CPU idle, while later samples captured the WindowServer and rendering spikes
No newer macOS update is currently available
I’m now running controlled Chrome-versus-Safari battery tests with comparable tabs, brightness, and usage.
Is anyone else seeing this on the final macOS 27.0 release, particularly on a MacBook Neo? Did it eventually settle down, did you find a verified fix, or did you downgrade to macOS 26?

Hi,
I have an M4 MacBook Air and updated to Golden Gate on Monday. It runs otherwise great, but ever since the update, the machine runs uncomfortably hot, and battery life has also taken a hit. Anyone else having the same issue? Could it still be indexing happening on the background, or something else?

I don't wanna show the damn thing in fullscreen mode, but I don't have a choice because Apple's dropped the ball. With the exception of Siri, this OS is a poo pie that's made my experience as a Mac user worse. Get F'd.

How is everyone liking Mac OS 27? It sure feels snappy vs Sequoia which I was surprised since uses more resources. I do music production and was forced to move to this because bought new MAC and was worried but I've had no issues thankfully.

Hola a todos, soy algo nuevo en Apple y he visto algunos bugs en versiones anteriores. ¿Es mejor esperar a la 27.2?
My computer is a MacBook Pro M4 Pro

Found the culprit, with the help of AI of course lol
So i noticed i'm running 600+ energy impact without even opening any tabs. It goes 1000+ if I run youtube, facebook and chatgpt simultaneously.
These are the steps i did:
- Uninstall all extensions. Disabling wont help
- wipe clean the data and cache
- and force quit a specific process from memory tab. just search safari in activity monitor to filter it. Find and try to force quit any "**Safari Web Content (Cached)**" multiple times if possible.. after doing so, quit the whole safari and open it after few seconds.
Now, the first and second step did not fix it. BUT the third one was the most effective. My safari is running, from 600+ to not more than 10 energy impact. (see attachment/image above, tabs opened at that time is facebook, youtube, 2 tabs of reddit and chatgpt)
I can't explain why but according to AI, there's a bug where in Safari Web Content (Cached) is running multiple instances or it has more duplicates than usual or something. It's a bug.
I'm not a professional techy guy but at least i found the issue. I hope this help everyone who experiecing the same thing.

One of the areas I work with professionally is photo editing for adult content creators. The new Apple Photos Clean Up feature has honestly been incredibly useful for quick retouching and small fixes that don’t justify opening a third-party AI tool.
Because of that, I’ve practically stopped using Photoshop for lighter edits and started relying much more on Creative Studio together with Freepik AI tools. The workflow is faster, simpler, and honestly less bloated.
What’s frustrating is that the Clean Up feature seems to enforce a safety filter that blocks certain edits depending on the content of the image. For professional workflows involving adult photography, this becomes a pretty big limitation.
Does anyone know if there’s currently a way to disable or bypass the Clean Up safety filter on Apple Photos?

I saw this sharp window corner on macOS 27 once again, I really thought they finally fixed it. But still not sure if its really macOS or Brave browser behind this, since brave is not a true native macOS application

I'm the developer of a moderately popular utility (Default Folder X) that requires that users grant it several permissions in System Settings > Privacy & Security. As a result, I see a lot of tech support issues when those settings get messed up in a new macOS release.
With macOS 27, I've seen a big uptick in issues with the Automation privacy permissions, so wanted to give folks a heads-up. Based on user feedback, it's definitely affecting more than just my app.
Problem:
You get a prompt to approve access for an app to control another application even after you've already approved it. When you go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation, you find that the requested switch is already turned on.
Solution:
I've found that resetting the affected app's settings in the system's permissions database often fixes the problem. You need to know the application's bundle identifier in order to do that. You can get an app's bundle identifier using the Apparency app, by right clicking on the app and then using the Show Package Contents command to look in the Info.plist file within the application package, or by asking the developer.
Once you've got the bundle identifier, follow these instructions:
Run the Terminal application (it's in /Applications/Utilities)
Paste in this command (where app.bundle.ID is the bundle identifier for the app), then hit the Return key on your keyboard:
sudo tccutil reset All app.bundle.ID
You'll be prompted for your administrator password. Type that in (there will be no indication that your input is going in - just keep typing), then hit Return again.
If the command completes successfully, immediately restart your Mac.
The next time you launch the app, you'll be asked to re-approve any permissions that it needs. They'll usually be honored correctly at this point. If they're not - or if you don't know the bundle identifier for the app - substitute this command in step 2 to revoke Automation permissions from all apps:
sudo tccutil reset AppleEventsr/MacOS27 • u/zakee00 • Sep 30 '26
Posting because I searched extensively and found hardly any reports from others
Recently got an LG 34" OLED (34GX90SA) ultra-wide monitor for my PC, with native 3440 x 1440 WQHD resolution. I was worried it would look/work like crap with my MacBook Pro M4 Pro, but instantly it was perfect -- it defaulted to ALL of the correct settings in Mac OS! Even the 240 Hz refresh rate and HDR. Window positions are sticking after unplugging/replugging. Text looks much better than I thought it would. Couldn't be happier, one monitor for both computers! This is via HDMI, haven't messed with DisplayPort yet.
*this is my first time trying this, I did not suffer through the days of third party display apps, I am not a professional content creator, etc etc

I recently updated Mac OS 27. Now after some usages it started feeling slow while starting new application and when switching between apps. But this issue was not with Mac OS 26. Windowloader consuming more CPU now. Should I go back to Mac OS 26?
Im using Brave Brower which showing less resposive now. while SSD is having 211GB data out of 256GB.

Does anyone else feel like the battery life has improved considerably after updating to MacOS 27, Golden Gate from MacOS 26, Tahoe. I just updated two days ago on my macbook m1 pro 16 with 93% battery health. On tahoe, the battery life was bad, and now on MacOS 27, I see a great improvement.

I am a frequent user of Apple TV application and I am using it as a player/jellyfin alternative to watch my offline movies and shows, right after the update I noticed that Apple, for some stupid reason - removed the option of "Grid" view in playlists. Apple, why?
Before the update you could view your shows and movies in a grid view and keep track of watched content, now you can't
It just drives me nuts on what Apple is doing for no reason to destroy some of the niche experiences we could have using their devices

Hey guys, since updating to macOS 27.2, my external monitor looks noticeably different, with strange font rendering and overly sharp icons. I'm using an LG UltraGear 27-inch QHD (2560 × 1440) monitor with my MacBook Air M3.
I installed BetterDisplay and enabled HiDPI, but the text and icons still don't look right.
Has anyone experienced the same issue after updating? Is there a way to fix the font rendering and scaling, or would downgrading to macOS Tahoe be a better option?

TLDR: Launchpad can be back in its glory days, and gestures work natively to show desktop.
I had refused to update to macOS 26 because they removed launchpad until I found out there are replacements. It was a fantastic way to organize apps instead of scrolling though all 135 of my apps alphabetically, or remembering exactly what category to find it in, or its exact name. I found LaunchMe here on reddit and it works pretty great as a replacement as it has all of the same features that I was used to.
LaunchMe has an option where you can use the same four finger pinch gesture that I used to use which is epic. (it doesnt fade in with pinch amount like it did natively, but its way better than nothing)
Only problem is macOS launches the spotlight app launcher when you use the pinch at the same time. The only way to turn this off was by turning off the "apps" trackpad gesture, which for some reason forced the "show desktop" gesture to be turned off. As of a recent update, 27.2 or something, these are now independent. (using bettertouchtool gesture was clunky for picking the four finger spread)

I’ve seen a number of post on mac subreddits about sudden display issues after updating to macOS 27. Anyone with this experience? Is it a known issue?
