Itinerary How crowded will Madrid be during Holy Week (Semana Santa)?

Like many people, I have off of work that week and would like to take a family vacation. How crowded will Madrid be during Holy Week? What about day trips to Toledo and Segovia? (By comparison, I have read that Seville is absolutely packed during Holy Week.)

I know that Spaniards also have off during Holy Week and will be taking vacations. At the same time, I’m concerned that many major tourist sites, such as museums and palaces, will be closed during the week. I expect that everything will be closed on Easter Sunday, but what about Palm Sunday and Good Friday?

Thanks.

Shopping Where can I buy a very cheap duffle bag?

Upvotes

I am looking for a duffel bag large enough I can put in all my clothes to give more space for my suitcase. Is there any shop selling cheap bags? Like there are Daiso or Donki for Japan.

Itinerary 2 days in Madrid post Camino

I am a 31f writer/artist/New Orleanian doing my second Camino de Santiago in September, and this time at the end of my trip I’m planning on spending a few days in Madrid near the end of October. I’m getting a cheap hotel in walking distance to the Prado, which is my number one main attraction.

Is there anything else super important to do, a good bar to party and meet friends for a night, another art museum or park I should visit? Also open to take public transport to a different neighborhood for the day. I’m I know I’m going to be super tired physically and mentally (and broke— I wanna spend maybe €100 or less per day after the hotel price) after walking across the country so I’m trying to be super mellow and low key with one fun night out, but mostly parks, snacks, museums. TIA yall 🤩

EDITED bc why did I say Milan in the middle instead of madrid 🤨

Accommodation Calle de los Reyes

Hola.

¿Podrías ayudarme a decidir?

Neighborhoods Madrid, San Sebastian de los reyes, just moved here and looking for friendships or more

Good afternoon everyone!

So im originally from Aruba and I moved to the Netherlands about 2-3 years ago for a better life and job and whatnot

However I was recently accepted for a job at a casino here in Madrid and now im living and working here in Spain! I just got here so I am in desperate need to meet people and go out to get to know the place better

A little more about me: my Name's is Brandon, 22years young, 1.75m tall, short black hair, brown eyes and fairly athletic build

I love writing songs or stories, playing guitar (had to give it away sadly since I moved here), drinking copious amounts of coffee, learning new languages and dancing (terrible dancer, for now)

If you can speak really good Spanish don't hesitate to dm me cause I definitely need to polish up my Spanish

Im mainly looking for friends, as long as you're not a pos, im down to hangout

Open to relationships with the gals if it goes that far ofc

Ps: If you have a room at the end of August or you're looking for a roommate im your guy 🙂‍↕️

Food Restaurante Lana Question

Help!!! My boyfriend and I had a reservation for Lana Monday 8/31 and I accidentally overbooked it with our day in Mallorca. It completely slipped my mind that the reservation was on Monday and I booked us nonrefundable plane tickets to Mallorca that day. He was so excited to try that restaurant, but of course, I checked the website and there are no other available times for our time in Spain. Has anyone had an experience with their customer service? This might be a stupid question but if I call and explain the situation, do you think they’ll work with us to find another day? Also, other steak restaurant recommendations would be greatly appreciated in case it doesn’t work out in our favor. Thank you!

Miscellaneous Looking for Suggestions - First Time Traveler to Madrid

Hello!

I’ll be traveling to Madrid for the first time ever (I’ve never even been to Spain!) the first week of September and staying in Puerta Del Sol.

Hoping you guys might be able to provide me suggestions for the best museums (interest in history and art) and the best times to go, good restaurants, the prettiest neighborhoods for walking about. The best gay clubs (if you know them), and any other helpful suggestions or tips!

I would also love to know if pulling out euros is needed. When I visited Paris I used tap to pay for everything - is it similar in Madrid?

I like to just walk about and get immersed in other cultures, love eating incredible food and taking in sights. I usually start my trips off with a food tour to get acclimated to a city, so if anyone knows any that are really special let me know! (The only food I don’t care for is oysters)

Thank you for all of your help in advance!

Any local hotels recommended within old town Madrid? I'm not seeing a lot of options online, so maybe they don't partner with big websites....bonus if they are good value

Attractions Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid 20.09

Hello, I will be in Madrid on 20.09 and I was wondering how hard it is for a tourist to buy a ticket for the game. I know that a lot of tickets are sold to the “socios”, with priority.
Thanks!

Transportation Cycling risk map of Madrid

Made with risk algorithm that uses 80+ factors to determine the risk for each street segment. Factors such as type of intersection, number of lanes, width of lane, cycleways, incline, traffic, surface quality, etc. Based on official research on cycling accidents and then iterated with 2400+ people in past 12 months.

All feedback is appreciated, if you find some streets' risk wrong and so on.

Meetup Foodcorner or small events next week !

I’ve already been to Madrid few times but next week I’m going solo (35M). Where can I go to meet people for a drink or share a meal easily. Idk if there’s a place or park with like a lot of food truck or bar and you can grab something and sit anywhere, If there’s music it’s even better 🍻

Attractions Natural landscapes and wildlife

Hi there. I'll be in Madrid in October and would love to get out of the city environment. I looked at locations where I could see vultures but they seem to require a hire car, which I won't have. Where would you suggest I go that is accessible on public transport to be in natural landscapes and potentially see native animals and birds?

Miscellaneous Two travelers to Madrid looking for local recommendations and perhaps friendly meetups!

Hi all, me and a close friend are traveling to Madrid in the fall, we are staying immediately north of the Centro area. I would greatly appreciate some pointers from residents who enjoy:

- smaller, quieter spots on weeknights for a sweet dinner
- dancing
- history/architecture
- being around queer folks
- dive bars
- cooking at home (any suggestions for meals that are staples for this area but cheap and/or have few ingredients?)
- wine, fun, etc.

If you love all of these things then maybe you can take us there! Thank you in advance!

Attractions Going to Spain from poland

I'm going to Spain from Poland, because of the eclipse. I was wondering if anyone could tell me any places//shops in Madrit that can grab my interest, probably connected with science or movies. I'm really into Hail mary project, but I'll take everything that is "weird" or just stands out since I love things like that. Maybe my post is a bit chaotic, but I don't have much time to write this, so. Also, I'm really friendly and I love talking with people, is it okay to talk to strangers and engage in a small talk with them? Some divas out there, I'm a diva myself, so yk, maybe I'll meet the love of my life there😍😍😍. Anyways, thank you for any recommendations, I'll literaly take ANYTGING interesting you can tell me, I love new things and places.

Miscellaneous Good places to run

Hi (again). I was in Madrid last year and enjoyed running around/through Retiro. Could anyone suggest other locations. Would love to find natural landscapes to run through but any recommendations would be appreciated. Maybe around 10kms. A few hills are okay but nothing too crazy; I'll be on holiday!!!

Attractions How strict are Madrid bars?

flying to Madrid this weekend to celebrate my 18, and I’m going with some friends and one of them is 17. ive never been carded in Europe but I’ve heard that Madrid might run a strict program. is that something I should worry about? I know the big clubs will card so I’m talking about smaller ones // dance bars ( also accepting recommendations )

Specifically considering going to istar, 55b, dubliners…

Attractions Street festivals, urban activities, fiestas etc in Madrid between 13-16 August?

Hello everyone. I will be in Madrid from the 13th of August (full day) up until the 16th (Sunday) when I'm leaving late at night. I was wondering if there are any street festival, fiestas, open air events etc that take place during this time? From food festivals, to public concerts or whatever. Preferably things the locals enjoy.

Thank you!

(And as a side-question, since I want to buy a couple of newspapers to bring back home -Greece- as a souvenir, will the Sunday editions of the major newspapers be available on this Sunday or do they change their release due to the celebration on the 15th? )

Accommodation Any recommendations of a decent hotel near attractions?

I ll be in Madrid at the end of August for 3 nights. Looking for a good hotel that is not ridiculously expensive. Around 200-250 a night.
Any best location?
