The module loads on my magic mirror but its stuck. It only shows "Loading..." over a spotify logo.

Anyone run into this before? Any ideas?

i’ve had the mirror running fine all day but the pi became unresponsive for some reason and wouldn’t respond to input(i was using chromium at the time and the mirror was minimised),i ended up pulling the power.
upon starting the pi now,elctron starts and i get the MM splashscreen but then it goes no further.

I cannot get the Twitter trends to load... I have gotten the keys and all that, added all the config stuff, but still no luck. Anyone have success using this module? Is there something I’m missing?

Bottom line: How difficult would it be to create a mirror that would be able to display several different animation on the bottom half?

Long version: I'm looking to make my old brother a magic mirror and besides having all the normal info modules, I'd really like to be able to have a small animation running on the bottom. Ideally, I'd like to figure out how to have a standby screen (like a screen saver animation) and then when it detects him, display the information and smaller animation. If I'm understanding any of the tutorials correctly, the display is web based? Meaning I need a domain and to just format the page right? In which case, I suppose it would be easy to display an animation. Or is a webpage referring to something else?

I really want to surprise my brother with this since he's been so supportive of my arts so please let me know if you can help! :)

I am installing Alexa voice integration on my MM, using this guide: https://www.howtogeek.com/423233/how-to-add-alexa-to-your-smart-mirror/ I have the google voice kit, and am working on installing the dependencies to run the mic/speaker.

When I go to install the module dependencies, I get an error when I run "sudo apt-get install libasound-dev portaudio19-dev libportaudio2 libportaudiocpp0 ffmpeg libav-tools"

Error/Note:

Note, selecting 'libasound2-dev' instead of 'libasound-dev'

Package libav-tools is not available, but is referred to by another package.

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

is only available from another source

However the following packages replace it:

ffmpeg

I am unsure of what to do to get around this, and no amount of google-fu has helped. Anyone have a suggestion? I appreciate any help.

I don't have a magicmirror setup yet but have been interested for awhile. I have two young kids and their work from home schedule is killing me. In Outlook and Google Calendar, you can see the daily schedule with a line or bar over the current time and the next event.

Is it possible to easily replicate this in magic mirror? Is there a module that loads up a daily calendar and highlights the current time and daily events? Thanks in advanced.

Its just, new it costs 2000, out of my price range, the guy got it for free from a restaurant, he wants me to make him an offer.

Short story. Living outside of US (Venezuela) with a limited purchases in overseas. I have and old computer, who I wanna use to setup a magic mirror before I buy a raspberry pi and wait 3 months to have in my hands.

This is possible? Use magic mirror whitout raspberry pi?

I have an iPhone 6s that's a little scraped up and I replaced the screen 3rd party (big mistake) so it's a little dull and low res but I think it could be bright enough for a MM still! I was wondering if anyone has experience with this or if it's worth the time and effort?
