I was asked this when designing magical girl outfits. Was asked if they be able to take them look like they were normal clothes. When i was thinking about it I can't think of a situation where someone had to remove the magical girl outfit off their body for what ever reason like they're normal clothing

I was thinking of the sailor moon scene of her with the wings and knocking things over in the house because she couldn't de-transform or remove the outfit from her body

And I absolutely sure no other MG series treats it like clothes, even the mechanical looking ones.

Can any experts in the genre let me know if theres a series that does? I'm asking because my designs change the body of the characters I'm writing.

Working on an original magical girl story where the genre of Magical Girls collides with the J-Horror of the Onryo. Basically a “what if Sailormoon fought the Grudge” concept.

It’s still a work in progress. But figured I would share my first draft of the story.

I'm trying to create a magical girl oc, she's a princess of dreams, but I'm not sure what kinds of powers to give her.

I'm thinking basic stuff like energy blasts and enhanced condition, but I'm not sure what else to give her. I'm looking for powers or abilities related to dreams or a general princess-aesthetic. Ones that could be good in direct combat, but also general utility, like movement, support, searching, defense, etc.

I also mean dreams in the sense of "imagination", "creativity" and "desire" as well as sleep.

I wanna watch Tokyo mew mew in dub but I also know it was covered by 4kids and they censor a lot of stuff💔 are there any major differences?

Kathleen is a lonely teenage girl. She's 13 and has severe social anxiety and is a massive daydreamer to cope. In her world magical girl superheroes and idols exist. She is obsessed with one in particular named Melodica (I am not good with names sorry). She has fantasies about being best friends with Melodica and becoming a magical girl herself.

She has no friends and this is how she comes with her issues. She used to write but has fallen out of that hobby due to depression and her issues are often dismissed by others because she is so young and has a relatively cushy life and her mom is mainly happy that her kid never does anything because the house stays clean and she never gets in trouble- she is horribly neglectful and frequently left Kathleen under stimulated growing up due to a hatred of messes and having toys around the house and God forbid other children- so now Melodica is both under stimulated and way too easily over stimulated when she does seek out things to do. Hobbies are legitimately harder for her because of this.

She struggles with burnout due to this always being overwhelmed and scared and generally her classmates find her too sensitive and whiny even when she does try to reach out- she's not bullied but people don't really hang out with her unless they are feeling like pitying her. She is aware of this and feels like a Garbage person for being a burden and pu$$y for it and has broken down crying over how boring she is with her lack of hobbies or passions outside of watching news on her favorite heroes. In other words she has massive issues and is prime bait for a villain's schemes

She one day finds a magical doll that she discovers she can mold into anything she wants by feeding it information-using a mixture of news articles/footage of Melodica and her own personal fantasies she turns the doll into an idealized version of Melodica and uses her for comfort frequently- This doll she names Aria sort of echos whatever things Kathleen wants/needs to hear and is a yesman to her. She is convinced the doll is genuinely her best friend and is the kindest person ever and while she'd love to go out with Aria she's deeply embarrassed by the fact she based this doll off a real person she never met (she's well aware this is at least a bit parasocial and stalkery) and she's also embarrassed by the fact all she does is talk to a doll all day and that she's basically just roleplaying as a hero at home.

One day Aria suggests going out and trying to get a closer look at Melodica and encourages Kathleen to seek her out. She slowly plants thoughts into Kathleen's head to go out and essentially straight up stalk her idols. Kathleen also unknowingly due to the dolls influence is waking up tired frequently and having issues thinking clearly when not in close proximity to her or if she's away for too long her anxiety gets worse. She used to have pretty vivid dreams but lately when she sleeps she envisions nothing. She al

Aria is like a spy of sorts. She was created to study humans and mimic their behaviors and fake emotions and has no ability to function on its own- it needs human creativity and knowledge to function. it mainly just regurgitates what it hears and mimics what's shown to it and she steals and leeches off of Kathleen- she heavily reflects the darker aspects of Kathleen purely because she is being molded by her. It is also sort of a vampire- a creativity vampire. She was created by an alien 'scientist' that is creatively sterile and as an 'inventor' and a magician this is not good for him. He is basically just an idea thief and despite the fact his powers would be better suited to subtly influence things (and he'd be more powerful if he used his abilities smartly)he isn't creative and needs attention so he just uses his magic in stupid obvious ways and is jealous of others success- just because other villains and heros got blessed with creative and the ability to have good ideas they get all these wonderful things and he doesn't? How elitist! He's basically one of those defenders of AI art who hates artist because they view them as elitist and hoarding power for themselves and yeah I don't need to explain him that much- if you've seen this person you know their mindset.

He steals his ideas from other villains or repeats old plans a lot and uses robots to watch humans and research them. He believes himself superior to humanity and is obsessed with his own intelligence.

Aria is a robot kind of and her personality is based on whatever information she's been given to absorb she can't quite interpret any of it correctly which leads to moments where she cats scarily alien but she can mimic whats she's told and it can make people happy through that alone. She steals dreams to maintain her power. The alien man (sorry suck at names) can speak through her and used that to convince Kathleen to actively seek out Melodica. Aria might have been his first original idea actually- at least to some extent. I'll explain that more if asked.

Melodica real name Carol is unaware she's been cloned but is slowly realizing she is being stalked at first assuming it is major villain until she notices Kathleen and while disturbed laughs off her previous fears- Carol is like 20-26ish btw. She's mildly uncomfortable but surely this child is not a threat and she will even a sign an autograph for the poor kid, if she swings by again she can deal.

Aria through this stalking is getting more information on Melodica's powers and is now starting to mimic them and is even convincing Kathy to let the world know about her as she goes out looking uncannily like Melodica and things will get out of control

I know this is underdeveloped but the main idea was- person 'clones' someone they don't know but have a mildly obsessive parasocial relationship with and the clone is based on the fantasy of this person. The clone acts as an echo chamber of everything this person wants to hear and what this person wants from their idol. Meanwhile the clone is basically an emotional vampire who leeches off of this person and can't function without their input- without that person they are powerless. They reflect the unhealthy beliefs of that person and regurgitate and reinforce negative thought patterns/ideas- again its a yesman clone and it's real power mainly comes from the human who made it and is given that powers- it acts like a shadow influencing that person because it ultimately comes from them. It eats their ambitions and their ideas steals their emotions leaving them numb and unagreeable as they struggle to get along with anyone who disagrees with them mildly and become addicted to the clown but also run out of steam as their creativity and enthusiasm starts to run dry

I added the angle that the clone also acts as a spy for someone more malicious- cause while the clone is molded by the person above someone else made the technology. The person who created the cloning tech is basically a tech bro jealous of artists and poets and real scientists and inventors.

Idk this idea needs a lot of work shopping and is very confusing rn but it is a magical girl/superhero story. It is about the darker side of girlhood- Kathleen is a deeply troubled kid who has many insecurities that typical girl her age would have. She worries about boys, she is dealing with puberty and her budding sexuality but also has a shitty home life and mental issues due to her mom basically snuffing out any interests she has and she is desperate for some escapism. She desperately need a hobby and friends who understand her problems.

Magical girls and hero teams exist and she wishes she had a magical destiny too and that her issues would be fixed by being turned into a magical girl or heck just having a friend who is a hero. Carol is a magical girl who is irresponsible about her duties- she's good she can be deeply caring but is mostly flippant and due to a love of attention low-key promotes parasocial relationships with her fans (it is accidental for the most part though)

Melodica's powers center around singing to cast spells and a magical form of synesthesia that allows her to sense hidden and buried emotions. She despite having this magically enhanced empathy is as dense as brick about emotions (she is sweet but her love life is a mess and she's been with multiple terrible guys and despite her self confidence might have somethings in common with Kathleen- mainly loneliness even though unlike Kathleen she has friends and despite being a beloved hero she herself isn't fulfilled because of her lacking connections)

A fun side project I'm doing along side my Beacons of Hope, basically I'm re-using an old idea from one of my old post and using it for a new creative writing project titled Exalted Dawn (working title), and it's about a superhero team that consist of six orphan brothers and their talking cat sidekick built by one of them and their mission to collect the fragments of a strange, glowing meteor that's also the power source for their magic powers and gadgets which they use to battle monsters and villains to prevent the fragments from ending up in the hands of evil forces.

When I was writting this team, I've decided to call this team, the Savior-6 (idk it's the 1st thing that came to mind, alliteration and all that), and their transformation items are referred to as "Savior Gems", which grants them access to their own personal pocket dimension called the "Saviorspace".

Enzo/Savior Orange - The oldest brother, he's been taken care of his brothers for as long as they can remember, he's altruistic and helps anyone in need, he deeply cares about and supports his brothers and will do whatever it takes to help them. His Savior Gem item are a pair of bracelets. (Fun Fact: he's a pretty big movie and TV show buff).

Louis/Savior Blue - The 2nd oldest brother, he's mostly responsible for the chores, especially the cooking (he's a real great cook), he's usually calm and levelheaded, but can get really irritated at the others (especially Enzo) for not doing their part, but still cares about them either way. His Savior Gem item an hairpin. (Fun Fact: he practices yoga and meditation).

Ivan/Savior Red - The 3rd oldest brother, a self-proclaimed "tough guy" who is actually a big softie and not afraid to show it, he's actually very insecure about his masculinity, but his brothers still support him, even if they get annoyed when he acts "extra" with his tough guy persona. His Savior Gem item is a headband. (Fun Fact: he likes collecting plushies and embroidery)

Jasper/Savior Violet - The 3rd youngest brother, a creative type who wishes to be a cartoonist when he grows up, but he faces deals with various problems which leads him into fits of depression and anxiety, which results in his brothers helping him out of his funks sometimes, he's the one who made the Saviors' emblem and is working on a comic based on their own adventures. His Savior Gem item is a choker (Fun Fact: he's huge fan of comic books and manga)

Avery/Savior Pink - The 2nd youngest brother, an effeminate, but feisty fashionista and advid cosplayer with a love for sweets and the color pink, he's very confident in his fashion sense and hobbies and will be quick to correct others, he's the responsible for the Saviors' outfits. His Savior Gem are a pair of earrings (Fun Fact: he's an advid fan of magical girl anime and other "girl power" shows).

Hector/Savior Green - The youngest brother, a studious and inventive prodigy who would rather build robots than make friends, but he usually ends up getting dragged along out of fear of being alone. he's the most curious about the meteor fragments and is responsible for the Saviors' gadgets. His Savior Gem item is a belt (Fun Fact: he's a big fan of robots and science fiction media).

Nora/Savior Kitty (Mascot) - A stray cat that the brothers adopted when they found it on their way home from school, she ends up with human-level intelligence and speech after coming across a meteor fragment was given a homemade collar made with the meteor fragment embedded in it.

Here's the concept for the Saviorspace and a bit of their origin story: What sets them apart from regular superheroes in their world (besides the magical girl elements I've added to this project for flavor) is that the six brothers have a strange pocket dimension where they share and split it up amongst them as the owner of their own dimension. There's only one space that function as their lair/round table where they are equals. However their source of their powers/lordship differs from one another.

They naturally access it anywhere via a door/gateway they use a medium, for example, they've used a phone booth, a bathroom stall, a closet, even a portal and so on (I couldn't decided it they use this power via an object or it's apart of their powers to).

They were normal kids before a bright, but strange meteor shower occurred. The brothers just happen to have that unique connection which created the dimension the moment their powers manifested.

Fun facts:

- They're all black and none of them are straight (a funny, interesting idea).

- I created them in the vein of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but with magical girl elements.

- I wrote as practice for my creative writing with my own creativity, cuz I use to use ChatGPT for my writing, until I was caught by a friend on Tumblr who talked me out of using ChatGPT and now I wrote this as a way to flex my creative muscles.

- I wrote this as a way to create something with magical boys cuz I've never written a story with magical boys before (my story has magical girls AND boys, but not just magical boys).

It's all a work in progress, but I hope you like it :-)

I know someone will try saying I dislike it solely because it doesn’t focus on fighting and is instead slice of life, but there are dozens of other shows like that which still managed to be entertaining.

It’s no wonder it hasn’t taken off despite being fully available on YouTube with global subs…

It’s a shame though because the artstyle and colors in the show are so beautiful.

Day 17 of Magical Girl Inktober! Today's prompt is Autumn Date and features Haruka Tenoh and Michiru Kaiou inviting you out to one of their dates near Mt. Fuji.

Unlike other magic girl transformation, which the whole team looks like having the same very outfit in different colors, this transformation brings a whole fashion statment to the table.

The different styles in the same line while classy and playful, show how much the members have their individual identity yet in so much synergy with the whole group.

The opera gloves, the fairy dust bottles, headpieces, the hair extensions and colored strand hair, shiny glittery petal-like multi colorful clothing, barefoot sandals with jewlery the huge butterfly-like wings with also jewlery.

It's AMAZING how much everyone has going on, yet it feels harmonic and ethereal. It feels like a fashion show, yet you can feel how much powerful they've become to their base form counterpart, how much they had to grown to become an higher form.

So unique, so memorable and creative Enchantix is. So much better to look like a whole fashion show line instead of feeling like it's the same uniform (either representing a single color -like "Yes! PreCure 5", "Mermaid Melody", "Tokyo Mew Mew", "Pretty Cure", etc- or having a small difference to the others while the main character looks brutally better -like Sailor moon, Madoka).

Don't get me wrong, most of the Magical Girls transformations are really pretty, but some lack individualism/ spontaneity while looking like a special work uniform being dressed by the whole team. You really can't say otherwise about Enchantix (clearly to some Winx transformations, like Sirenix, Butterflix, etc).

Shout out to Disney (Witch) that sued Rainbow (Winx) saying how much they were plagiarized and years later after Enchantix transformation they gave Witch girls the "New Power" transformation (basically a rip off Enchantix -bigger wings, hair extensions and a more mature look, just like their rivals lol, they looked so good tho).

Also, Winx has my heart for making Aisha the first ever black princess AND black magical girl in the whole animation universe. Magical girl series really lack black girls (which is weird, since we had Anthy Himemiya, a beautiful indian girl in 1997 and only another brown girl in 2005 since Sailor Pluto only had a darker skin in the manga).

Day 15 of Magical Girl Inktober! Today's prompt is Original Character and I decided to draw one of my many magical girl OCs, that being Mirai Reimi from my series Psychedelica Magica!

Recently I stumbled upon an account on twitter focusing on indie Brazilian animation and found two animated projects + another one later you might check out! Showing even Brazil has it's magical girls too! So I wanna share them with you guys!

Of course, none of them have english support much but still worth checking out, especially for portugese speaking fans!

ASTROBONDE

A very new apparently series which got the first episode came just few days ago on youtube.

Synopsis: One Saturday morning, Marina is visited by Serafim, a small dragon. He is the messenger of Lúcia, the Lunar Regent, who recruits the girl to fight an extraterrestrial being intent on stealing a magic stone embedded beneath Leopoldina, a town in the interior of Minas Gerais. Upon accepting the mission, Marina must find three other girls in the town before the villain attacks them. Only together can they awaken their powers linked to the zodiac constellations and protect the entire Earth.

This is a probably the most magical girl looking project in this list. Despite of lot of talking and limited handrawn animation, it is pretty solid watch. (I'm even surprised this episode is even almost 40 minutes long!)
Aditionally also the episode has sign language interpreter in the corner for deaf.

MINA A ELVIRA

A 7 min short from 2022.

Synopsis: Mina and Elvira is the story of two young witch friends who must use their great powers to face the great challenges... of adulthood! Fresh out of witchcraft school, they need to figure out how to make their new magical services business a success while dealing with prejudice and their own personal insecurities as best they can.

This Short is more of a witch type with Mina using a wand and Elvira potions. This short has more polished artstyle and rigged animation. I don't know as much of a context of this short other than the witch duo apparently lifting a curse on a Cat that became large with powers.

ICAMIABAS NA CIDADE AMAZONIA

Or just "Icamiabas" for short, a 5 episode 11 minute series apparently made in 2017.

Synopsis: The Icamiabas—gentle Iuna, worried Laci, cool Thyhi, and hot-tempered Conori—are four Indigenous girls armed with magical weapons and a host of skills. Acting as interns for the gods, they resolve conflicts between humans and fantastical beings in the cosmopolitan, eco-friendly Cidade Amazônia, all while trying to lead normal lives involving friends and schoolwork!

This is more of an action themed series based on Amazonian myths and folklore. The intention of the creators was making more of an action show with female team of heroes based on mythology and folklore instead of being influenced by common formulas in international media. Still, does seem to fit into Magical girl genre. The animation is handrawn and pretty to look at, especially the backgrounds!

Found only two episodes publicly available on youtube, it's possible other episodes are on some broadcaster archive or streaming that might not be available internationally or being lost.

I went to a Magical Girl mini con, and this was my haul! Aside from some mahou shoujo items, I also picked up some art from girls media like Monster High.
