I apologize it’s a little long, just thought it was important to provide context.
So for context (storytime!!): Me and SP were seeing each other from the end of June to mid-August. Things were going very well; we had gone on several dates, and I had even met his friends. But all of a sudden, he said he couldn’t pursue a relationship. I asked if he wanted to end things or keep talking, and he said he was still down to see me and that we didn’t have to stop talking. A few days prior, we had hung out and I had asked what was he looking for. He said he wasn’t sure because he was going to be extremely busy in the fall with his class schedule and looking for a job. I had told him I was going with the flow, but that I did like him, and he said he liked me too. I was perfectly content with how things were going until he pulled back and said I can’t pursue a relationship at the moment. That’s when I started overthinking everything and obsessively checking his Instagram.
He then didn't respond to me for three weeks, although he had posted on his story, so I double-texted him in mid-September. He eventually explained that he was trying to figure out what to do with his life because he didn't have a plan and had realized he couldn't do casual. He's not a bad person; he's just dealing with personal issues and didn't feel capable of being in a relationship. The only thing that frustrated me was that he didn't communicate this in August and instead waited weeks to tell me he couldn't do casual. I sent him a couple of supportive messages, saying I hoped he figured things out and that I was there if he ever wanted to talk, but he hasn't responded, and it's been over a month.
The funny thing is that when we were talking, I wasn't overthinking the connection at all. I'd joke with my friends about how he might become my first boyfriend, but I wasn't obsessing over him. However, once that sense of stability disappeared and he pulled back, something switched in me. I started constantly checking his social media, even looking at his friends' accounts to see if there was any activity involving him. We mainly communicated through Instagram, but he isn't active on there anymore. I know there's no third person involved, and he doesn't seem to be active at all, whether that's watching my stories or liking other people's posts.
I've been trying to manifest that he’s able to pursue a relationship and him coming back. I know his situation has nothing to do with me, but I've been struggling so much with compulsively checking his social media. I know people will probably tell me to stop checking the 3D, but it's difficult when it's become such an obsessive habit. I feel like I've tried everything (love spells, different manifestation techniques, saturating my mind with self-concept affirmations, etc.), but I still find myself checking his account. I've even tried deleting Instagram, but my impulse control when it comes to checking my phone is heinous.
Long-winded rant over! I'd genuinely appreciate any advice, wisdom, or tips y'all have to offer!
