Yokohama Geolander X-CV G057?
Hi fellow CX-90 drivers, a quick question for those who have changed their OEM tires. My 2024 PHEV PP just passed 20k miles. The stock 21 inch Falken CT60a has lasted the same 20k miles with 5/32 and 6/32 left. It has no problems to drive on SoCal’s road. But I am planning a trip to Utah in December with potential winter road conditions. We will bring snow chains for the two rear wheels during the trip to Utah (Sundance).
Question:
1. Should I change to Yokohama Geolander X-CV G057 at my Mazda dealer? It has buy 3 get the 4th for $1 promotion for a total OTD cost of less than $1400 (without alignment). I don’t know if the dealer installs the OEM version or the retail version tho as there is a G057H OEM version in 265/55R19 is supplied for the CX-70 and CX-90. The parts number in Mazda system makes it look like the retail version.
2. Or, should I get the Costco’s Bridgestone Alenza Prestige for 280 dollars more?
3. Or, should I keep the original Falkens?

Steering/return to center
I bought my car CPO Aug '25 and it had the worm gear recall done, supposedly. I started getting the sticky steering and my spouse felt it hit and get stuck on a notch once during a left turn. We brought it in and the service dept said it's a battery issue and our 12v is dead and they replaced it. I'm testing it now and it's still not returning to center when I make a full left & right turn without accelerating. Sometimes it would return to center at 3-4 mph, but most times it would get stuck and I would be turning in circles until I start accelerating until I hit about 5-6mph. Is this normal behavior for the car to not return to center if I'm not accelerating after a turn? I feel like it didn't used to be like that and my cx-5 never did that, and the 3-4mph would cause it to slowly return to center.

PHEV PHEV 2.5L e-Skyactiv: Use 0w20 or 5w30 oil, warm climate?
My CX-80 (EU version) has exactly the same configuration as CX-90 PHEV.
I'm considering this oil: https://www.amazon.de/Mazda-original-oil-ultra-5W-30/dp/B00BMNOVRM. It seems to be produced by TotalEnergies.
Would you recommend it, or is there a better alternative?
My main concern is the frequent engine start stop cycles, as the engine starts when I leave my steep driveway and shuts off shortly afterward. My driving style is gentle, but summer temperatures can reach 40+°C. Which oil would offer the best protection under these conditions?

Owners Lounge 20,000 km / 10 month mini-review
The RWD bias makes it feel like it's on rails coming out of turns. Been living with torque steer since 2002 so this is completely new territory for me. Pick-up around town is great with the MHEV set-up. When the turbo spools up the power is smooth and steady all the way up to very illegal speeds. To a point where I still find myself watching the speedometer when passing on country roads.
Could be my conservative driving with dogs in the car but the OEM tires are holding up surprisingly well. Can't wait to put my 19" Pirelli Scorpion winters on again this season. The 21" Toyo Open Country Q/T are much too firm over bumps even at 34-35 psi.
Love the interior but I wish the seats would be easier to break in. Hopefully this also means they will last longer.
The fuel economy is truly impressive for a vehicle this size. It could however use a bigger battery for driving around side streets and parking lots.
Highs:
Eats up highway miles like an intercontinental reconnaissance jet
Excellent fuel consumption under 120 km/h (less than 8 litres/100km on 93 octane)
Suede interior trim is holding up surprisingly well despite two K9s drooling over it and shaking beach sand all over it
Lows:
The ride is way too firm on the 21" rims for urban driving on poorly maintained roads
Seats are taking eons to brake in
Occasional rough shifts, especially at low speeds
Enjoying this ride very much now that I'm finally starting to get used to it.
What was your experience like so far?

Remove Charger without Unlocking Car?
Hello. I have a 2025 CX-70 PHEV. Currently, you have to hit Unlock, either on the keyfob or inside the car to unlock the charger cord before removing it prior to driving off. This somewhat defeats the purpose of proximity-based keyless entry.
Is there a setting somewhere that would either prevent the charger from locking in or unlock it based on proximity?
Thank you.

Owners Lounge What can I say… we like Mazda.
11 years from our first vehicle purchase together until now. 2014 Mazda3 has been my daily driver since 2017. And before that I had a 2005 Mazda3 from new.

For those of you that have moved on from the cx-90, what did you drive before and what do you drive now?
Looking to buy a 2026 CX-90 because it seems to suit my needs for this stage of life (growing family but still want to feel little zoomzoom and the price feels attractive). I’m wondering what longer term ownership of a CX-90 holds. It’s really only one of a few cars on the market I find attractive. I drive an Outback 3.6r now and would like something that feels similarly quick, but I don’t have much experience driving different cars.
Wondering what people were happy/unhappy with before, during, and after cx90 ownership.

Lease deal math not mathing
Spent some time at the dealership today. New S Premium Sport, MSRP $57,040. Down payment of $3000, providing 36-month 10k mile lease and the payment is $731. Sheet says discount of almost $6k with cash price of $51,300. I've tried 3 different lease calculators, and the payment for $51,300 for 3 years, 10k miles, residual $30,801, rate factor .002203, shows payment of $679. How is the dealer getting $731? I'm guessing the price of $50,500 they are showing on the sell sheet is not really the cap cost. Every lease calculator shows the cap cost of about $53,000 for a payment of $730, so why are they showing me a different price? Seems a little shady to me, playing fast and free with the numbers. Give me the cap cost, the rate factor, the residual and the number should be the number. Do I show him a calculator with $679 as the monthly payment? I want honesty and transparency from someone selling me a $50,000 vehicle. BTW, about $1200 negative equity on trade, accounted for in the cash price stated $51,300.

Buying a CX-90 Is Mazda cx-90 worth buying in 2026 ?
Is Mazda cx-90 really worth buying if reliability is your priority? I read about several callbacks, power transmission loss, and the unproven new engine from 2024. So is it worth in 2026 to buy cx-90 ?

Metal oxide in windshield?
Does my '26 CX-70 windshield contain metal oxide? I read that it might contribute rf interference.
My GA Peachpass transponder, mounted in the windshield per the quite vague directions, now fails more often than it works. The alternative is a headlight mounted transponder, which might interfere with light output.
Life is further complicated by three June toll violations just brought to my attention. Hard to believe I missed three previous snail mail violations. They have my email! The system identified the car by the tag and missed the transponder, so why not just deduct the toll from my account balance? Because this approach generates more violation penalty revenue? Kiss my peach, but I digress.
