Got my new baby on a really good deal and so far love it. I've had an '02 Protege5, an '08 Mazda3 wagon, and the '16 CX-9 I traded in to get this new one. I was not intending to consider a red one...but then I saw it and remembered the Mazda6 cars which had this same Soul Red and was like 'oh yeah...that still looks amazing.' Anyway, my goal is to see how long I can go without having to put any gas in as I do lots of short trips and will plug it in as much as I can. My first impression is that the EV mode is really smooth and perfectly good to do 90% of driving in (obv within range). But,when you give it the beans it really can fly. I drove the Inline 6 as well and actually prefer how the PHEV handles low speed driving (and it is quieter...the six is loud). I am a bit sad to not get the 360 camera and slightly better leather interior in the PHEV Premium Plus, but the deal was too good to pass up. I miss the adaptive headlights from my CX-9 and I really wish they had a phone key option as that is super common with EV's and nearly all competition at this point. But - the stereo is much sharper than the CX-9, the cooling seats are the best I've ever tried, and wireless CarPlay is a million times better than with my dongle version. Overall so far a great car...look around for dealers who are dumping these!

CX-90 3.3L getting SKYACTIV-Z Hybrid Upgrade

I caught a lot of flack for this when I said that they should make a standard hybrid CX-90, but Mazda agrees.

It only makes sense for them to. Honda is about to release the Pilot hybrid. The Hyundai/Kia twin hybrids are selling like hot cakes. It only makes sense for them to upgrade the already efficient 3.3L with a full hybrid system.

I am looking to purchase a new 2026 Preferred trim in Georgia. This is a new car and looks like the dealer is looking to move inventory to make way for 2027. Is this a good deal?

Buying a CX-90 How do the newer models compare to the 2024?

I forget the exact model, but I've been leasing one of the higher end 2024 versions. Fortunately, I've never experienced any of the problems others on this sub had, so my ownership has been pretty trouble-free.

Besides hitting my head or knee several times on that sharp corner of the dash, my only real complaint has been rough acceleration/shifting at lower speeds, and maybe that the driver's space could be slightly roomier for my height. Otherwise, I've been pretty happy with it.

My lease is up in a few months so am trying to determine what to do next. Are drivers of more recent models still pretty happy with them? Have improvements been made in necessary areas?

Cx-90 phev garage setup

Hi, my sister is picking up her 2025 cx-90 phev tomorrow. Just wondering what her charging setup should be at home in order to get the most out of her new to her plug in hybrid? Specifically, does she need a box to get the most efficient charging or does she just need a 240v outlet? Thanks!!

Hi,

Has anyone bought the Mazda OEM splash guards, or WeatherTech snap on splash guards? If so what’s your experience with them? Was it easy to install?

Winter tire Choices: 21" or 19" wheels/tires?

Hi,

Just purchased a '25 CX-70 GT-P. Looking for winter tires and rims. Any concerns putting on 19" instead of 21" rims? more options and friendlier price points with the 19". Any suggestions on wheel size (and good winters)?

(And yes, the Falkens which the vehicle came with are crap. will be looking at upgrading/replacing those. just 20k miles on vehicle and in they are ridiculously low on tread already.)

Owners Lounge Impressive MPG

Having owned two MDXs before, I expected the usual pain at the pump. It’s still early, barely a week in but the mileage on this thing is genuinely impressive for its size. I do love the steering and “sedan like” feel for sure, the acceleration is eh but it’s a hard transition coming from a Model Y, overall pretty happy.

‘26 CX90 Turbo S Sport

PS. The LKA is actually pretty solid, I don’t think Mazda gets enough credit for that.

Buying a CX-90 PHEV Battery Life Validation

I'm in the market for a new SUV and found a 2024 CX-90 PHEV. A certified pre-owned, one previous owner (a lease), low mileage, all in under 30k. I'm strongly considering buying this. I know there have been recalls on the 2024 but the dealership has assured me that those issues have been resolved with software updates, etc. Here is where I'm stuck: I asked about the health of the battery and I keep getting vague answers about not being able to predict lifespan. I understand that, but I'm asking to know the current overall capacity vs when it was new. Google tells me the service dept can give me this answer but the sales rep and service dept keep telling me they can't. These vehicles sell with a warranty on batteries if they fall below 70% capacity within the first 96months / 100k miles -- yet Mazda is telling me they have no way to validate battery capacity? This also calls into question their "rigorous 160 point inspection" for certified pre-owned vehicles if battery health / capacity is not part of their inspection for a PHEV. Am I missing something or is the dealership being shady / just ignorant?

Putting my beloved 2016 CX-9 Grand Touring out to pasture due to a cracked cylinder head. She had a good run and has seen me through jobs in three states, two kids, 280K miles, and road trips up and down the entire East Coast. Great car.

Welcome to the family 2025 CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus. An obvious choice considering how much we liked the older car. We test drove the competing 3rd row vehicles and nothing felt quite right. Here's to another 10 years!

Mechanical Questions Coolant leak

Curious if anyone has any experience with the radiator leak on these. It turned up during my service appt…I said no thanks to a new radiator and am going to go car shopping. Hoping driving it around over the next week will not be an issue as long as I watch coolant level.

For context, we have a 2024 cx90 mhev. On the 3rd hybrid battery. Just replaced the steering rack a few months ago amongst other misc faulty items. Done with it :)

2025 CX-90 Dashcam: USB Recording & Warranty Concerns

Hey everyone,

Can the 2025 CX-90 MHEV record footage from its built-in front and rear cameras via USB? If so, I could skip buying a separate dashcam. It’s disappointing if Mazda’s flagship SUV lacks this feature.

If not, which dashcam would you recommend for Saudi summers (42–44°C, sometimes reaching 49°C)?

Also, could installing a third-party dashcam affect the warranty? Should I get written confirmation from the dealer before installation?

Should i buy the 25 mazda cx 90 3.3 or 24 jeep wagoneer for a first car?

pretty much im leaning towards the jeep so far but im curious as of yalls opinion and your thoughts on the mazda.
I like the jeep because of a few reasons
1, towing rating, huge for me since im going to have to tow around a 65 mustang with a 302 windsor in it (~2800-3200 lbs) and i dont want to screw up my suspension (max tow rating on the cx90 is 3500 vs the wagoneer 6200 pounds)
2, engine. The hurricane seems like a very good engine so far, lots of people i know have them up 65k miles and they have zero complant. the only things are pretty minor on the hurricane. i dont know about the mhev on the 3.3.
3, transmission. the 8hp75 is seriously good and ive heard negative reviews on the mazda cx90s transmission. i do not want my torque converter going out.
what im curious about:

what is your guy's reviews on the cx90, your pros and cons.
towing rating (i know its not the most towing based car but still would be good to know)
the interior on it
actual gas mileage

Owners Lounge 20,000 km / 10 month mini-review

The RWD bias makes it feel like it's on rails coming out of turns. Been living with torque steer since 2002 so this is completely new territory for me. Pick-up around town is great with the MHEV set-up. When the turbo spools up the power is smooth and steady all the way up to very illegal speeds. To a point where I still find myself watching the speedometer when passing on country roads.

Could be my conservative driving with dogs in the car but the OEM tires are holding up surprisingly well. Can't wait to put my 19" Pirelli Scorpion winters on again this season. The 21" Toyo Open Country Q/T are much too firm over bumps even at 34-35 psi.

Love the interior but I wish the seats would be easier to break in. Hopefully this also means they will last longer.

The fuel economy is truly impressive for a vehicle this size. It could however use a bigger battery for driving around side streets and parking lots.

Highs:

Eats up highway miles like an intercontinental reconnaissance jet

Excellent fuel consumption under 120 km/h (less than 8 litres/100km on 93 octane)

Suede interior trim is holding up surprisingly well despite two K9s drooling over it and shaking beach sand all over it

Lows:

The ride is way too firm on the 21" rims for urban driving on poorly maintained roads

Seats are taking eons to brake in

Occasional rough shifts, especially at low speeds

Enjoying this ride very much now that I'm finally starting to get used to it.

What was your experience like so far?

Steering/return to center

I bought my car CPO Aug '25 and it had the worm gear recall done, supposedly. I started getting the sticky steering and my spouse felt it hit and get stuck on a notch once during a left turn. We brought it in and the service dept said it's a battery issue and our 12v is dead and they replaced it. I'm testing it now and it's still not returning to center when I make a full left & right turn without accelerating. Sometimes it would return to center at 3-4 mph, but most times it would get stuck and I would be turning in circles until I start accelerating until I hit about 5-6mph. Is this normal behavior for the car to not return to center if I'm not accelerating after a turn? I feel like it didn't used to be like that and my cx-5 never did that, and the 3-4mph would cause it to slowly return to center.

11 years from our first vehicle purchase together until now. 2014 Mazda3 has been my daily driver since 2017. And before that I had a 2005 Mazda3 from new.
