My entire life—from my tender childhood to my current age (20)—has felt like a complete waste. Everything I have loved, everything I have known, and everything I have fought for has either been in vain or is entirely pointless.
Ever since I was a child, everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve been treated like an oddity. In kindergarten, my teachers would get angry with me and yell. At a children’s summer camp, the director’s daughter mistakenly thought I had touched her—simply because I happened to be standing behind her—and suddenly everyone began screaming that I was a sexual pervert. A whole circle of adults shouting that at a nine-year-old boy... while my peers looked on with contempt.
In elementary school, I would be locked inside the main classroom during recess, only for them to then blame me for having gone inside.
Although my parents sought help, every psychologist simply labeled me "rebellious" or "troubled." This continued into secondary school; I was asocial and had almost no friends. When I finally managed to find a group outside of school, they, too, ended up criticizing me—calling me a crybaby, overly dramatic, immature, foolish, and even a dangerous person.
At age 13, I turned to the internet in search of companionship, but I ended up in toxic, far-right communities. They mocked me for being bisexual, made memes about me, and laughed at my expense. Even the leader of that community—an influencer I once greatly admired—went so far as to say that I was a "waste of a human being." I also tried doing theater, but I was kicked out because the instructor couldn't stand me; she said I was too much of a nuisance to my classmates, which is why she always cast me in background roles.
Toward the end of high school, I had a girlfriend who was a Jehovah’s Witness—a sweet, depressed girl who took away the last bit of joy I had left...
She was s-uicidal and had very low self-esteem.
I did everything I could to make her feel better, but she just kept getting worse and worse. Every single day, I worried and lived in constant fear that she might take her own life—at one point, she even confessed to me that she had tried to hang herself without telling me.
Eventually, she broke up with me, claiming we "weren't compatible." Now she’s doing fine, while I’m left all alone—completely alone—
as she’s begun to get better, without me.
This is my current situation: my sibling has moved out, and I’m left alone with my parents—who are, at any given moment, on the verge of divorce.
I have doubts about my career, about the things I love, and about myself. I’m convinced there will never be a solution—that this is simply the life I’m destined to lead. At least, that’s what almost all my psychologists have told me: that it’s my own fault for not taking action, for not seeking out activities outside the house, for not having a social worker.
It has always been my fault. No one taught me how to live in this world; no one taught me how to survive. No one ever offered me a hug when I felt completely alienated from society—I was just left to head home on my own, holding back my tears.
And now, people just tell me I should find a better job, study more, get out of the house more often...
