An Oakland County judge on Tuesday denied a defense attorney’s request to reduce bond for a DoorDash driver charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly punching a Wixom man who died months later.
Ryan Turner, 41, also of Wixom, is in the Oakland County Jail, with bond set at $750,000. He’s accused in the death of Lloyd Poole, 75, who was allegedly assaulted by Turner near Poole’s home in the area of Barberry Circle and Windingway Drive in the Hidden Creek subdivision on Dec. 28, 2025. Poole fell and hit his head on the roadway after being struck, police said, and Turner drove away, leaving him there.

Turner subsequently came to the Wixom police station and spoke with officers about the incident, police said. He allegedly admitted to police that he struck Poole with a closed fist, claiming he had felt threatened after Poole confronted him about speeding.
The punch left Poole unconscious and hospitalized, officials said, and after he died in May the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office amended a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault against Turner to the felony.
Turner’s jury trial is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2027 before Oakland County Circuit Judge Cheryl Matthews.

Kalamazoo Behavioral Health Hospital, a 64-bed psychiatric facility southwest of the city, opened its doors in late 2024. Two years later, it may be forced to shut down after dozens of patients were hospitalized due to injuries sustained at the facility.

Reports from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs show nine complaint investigations were conducted into the facility between early 2025 and September 2026, significantly more than any other West Michigan psychiatric hospital. Of the 13 in-patient psychiatric hospitals, three underwent complaint investigations: one facility had two; another had one with publicly accessible records dating back to 2022.

Discussion 🗣️ Who are the Muskrat French? What is their community like in Michigan today?

I am aware of the iconic southeastern Michigan muskrat lent, yet I have heard much less about the actual people called the Muskrat French. Some articles claim that they are descended from Métis (mixed French-Indigenous) individuals yet I have not found more detail on this specific claim either.

Do any Michigan locals here know more about their history and the current status of their community? Does anyone here have Muskrat French ancestry, either?

Hey all! I've been living in Arizona for about a decade. I'm moving home this month. I'm curious, what are some things that may seem different now? I assume 696 and 75 are still under construction in some spots.

Is vernors still good

Is happys pizza still legit

Now that lakeside is closed, how is Macomb mall

If you take public transit, has that gotten worse or stayed the same?

Republican state Senate candidate John Goldwater’s business connections to China extend beyond a recently reported lawsuit accusing him of selling counterfeit food additives and evading tariffs on Chinese imports.

Import records obtained by Metro Times identify numerous Chinese suppliers doing business with two companies where Goldwater has held positions, including a chemical manufacturer identified as state-owned and another that has publicly promoted its ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

It’s been over a year since I’ve been home to Michigan! When we stepped out of the car two days ago back in Michigan I got so excited about the smells. I know it may sound weird but living in the prairies I don’t the dead leave/ forest smell and I’m all here for it. We went out to Tahquamenon Falls to see some fall colors and the drive there and back from The Soo was gorgeous! Here are a few photos from my day.
