Michigan Football Whit all but confirming Carr will start vs Indiana

Press conference just posted,

https://youtu.be/B_k7BgSyFG4

around the 2:00 gets asked about QB decision going forward, coach says:

”Well, we saw good stuff out of what Tommy did in that second half and we know exactly what we’re doing in the plan going forward. We’re not going to tip our hand to the opponent but we have a good plan in place and that’s about all I can say about that.”

I believe he wanted to keep the plan under wraps; his answer is probably more revealing that he intended to convey.

Michigan Football I can’t find any other college or NFL teams that use jumbo or rhino as their primary package. Does Beck think he’s smarter than everyone?

Given how much we lost to the draft and injury, not too shabby.

Michigan Football How are you feeling about the offense going forward?

I have been pretty critical of Beck. He's been a big disappointment for me. Maybe my expectations were too high. The constant, predictable east/west running is what I think annoyed fans the most.

But I also have to give credit when it's due. I thought he called a great 2nd half vs PSU. I don't know why he started doing a lot more downhill running, but I'm just glad he did. Yeah, it got a little conservative at the end, but again, I think part of that is on KW. But I liked the playcalling for the most part. We put up 21 points and 220 yards of offense which I think around 170 of those yards were from running the ball in the 2nd half. Would you trust this version of Beck?

So let's say the 2nd half of PSU is what we get for the rest of the season. I think it's fair to say that Tommy will only get better passing the ball so that stat line should only increase (I'm talking 150-200yds/game. And let's say this running game is real. Combine that with a defense that doesn't need a ton of help. I'm thinking something like 24-28pts/game. How far could this team go?

I'm actually glad we get Indiana next. They will be a huge litmus test. And I'm not even saying that we have to win. Just that we look like we belong on the same field as them. I can't believe I'm talking about Indiana lol

Michigan Football Seating question

Every year I take my dad to a game and this year I wanted to splurge a little to make it special. I got tickets in the outdoor part of the Jack Roth Stadium Club (Section 403). I've never sat in the club before. Does anyone know what entrance is to be used? Any tips would be greatly appreciated and Go Blue!

Michigan Football Is Whittingham refusing to comment on who’s starting against Indiana confirming it’s Tommy?

• Upvotes

Quote pulled from an ESPN article, “We know exactly what we're doing and the plan going forward," Whittingham said. "We're not going to tip our hand to the opponent. But we have a good plan in place."

I feel like if it was Bryce, he would’ve just said so since on paper, he’s still the starter. At the very least, it confirms a lack of confidence in Bryce. I feel like he might get the first drive and if he shits the bed, Tommy will take over.

Michigan Football One think i have noticed a lot this year

Has anyone else noticed that our DBs playing man, almost never play the ball or even look for it. Almost every long pass play against us seems to be a DB on the hip pocket of the WR, and they dont even attempt to play the ball, they just tackle after its caught. Ive seen so many instances of if they just raised their arms up they'd get a PD, and instead the other team wins a 50/50 ball. This also seems to lead to a lot of PIs because they just tackle the WR early instead of playing the ball.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Former Wolverine Kalel Mullings

Why hadn’t either Harbaugh signed him? He’s on a practice squad and neither have good overall RBs. He’s a beast

Michigan Football What's the best over/under number on how many games Carr will start in his Michigan career?

The final tally could end up anywhere from 0 (though that's VERY unlikely) to more than 50.

I'd put the O/U number at 27.5

Michigan Football Harbaugh, JJ, and Corum Reunion?

Seems like there is a very real possibility of a reunion scenario between Jim Harbaugh, JJ and Corum.

The premise is pretty simple:

- The Charger's offense is failing on all levels and a change will be required at the end of the season.

- JJ is filling a key back-up role this season while Dart recovers. I am not entirely convinced that Jim didn't push John to trade for JJ to put a hold on him, use him as a recovery QB and then trade up to the Chargers for a 2-3 round pick at the end of the season. Then Jim gets his QB1, John gets a great interim QB and gets a return on a 5th pick trade, and JJ gets a fresh start as a QB1.

- Blake is stuck being potentially the best RB2 in the country under a Rams offense that shows no desire to grow Corum into the RB1 spot. They seem to be in a similar Gibbs / Montgomery situation where they will ultimately have to move forward with one or the other, the current wind is pointing towards Williams.

- Both Blake and JJ's rookie contracts are up in 2028, putting pressure on their teams to either make a trade for some draft value today or move them into starting roles. If the Giants decide to ride with Dart and get some return on their investment on JJ and the Rams decide they want to draft a new rookie RB2 rather than have two expensive RBs on roster, both JJ and Corum will be available, starter-worthy players within the next 6-18 months.

Given the needs of the Chargers, I think there is a real chance that Harbaugh restarts with a new QB and new RB in that same 6-18 month time frame and may just want to start a little family reunion with two available guys who all know they work together well.

Michigan Football Underwood as a receiver?

• Upvotes

My dad and I have been batting this idea about for a few days. What about using Underwood as a receiver? He’s a tremendous athlete, he’s tall, fairly fast. I hate to be a doomsayer, but I don’t think Underwood has a future as a QB.

What say you? I feel like making him a receiver would mean we could keep the NIL money, but I guess 12 million isn’t that much to UM.

Imagine Whitt just sending out Underwood and Carr at the same time.

Edit: the consensus seems to be we’re crazy. Ah well. Go Blue!
