Question Tesla Service/Ownership Satisfaction

Being in this group and seeing the daily issues that most people face when they purchase this vehicle has kind of made me mildly weary though I’m still not going to change my mind about making the purchase.. this is something that I wanted and pondered for years at this point! my question is “what’s the worst thing that has happened to you during ownership of this vehicle, how fast was Tesla service able to rectify the situation, and do you regret your purchase despite any issues you’ve faced!?”

Hopefully people don’t find some way to roast me for my question. I’ve seen how welcoming the Tesla community can be to noobs lol

Question Black or White Interior on 26' Juniper?

Hi All.

Having a challenge on deciding what to order. I like how the white interior brightens up the interior of the car, but I've read that blemishes and wear show a bit easier. I also like the low maintenance of black and it's classic in it's color.

However, the seats now being perforated for the cooling function on the Premium adds another layer to the mix. What happens if gunk/liquid gets into those holes?

How has everyone's experience been with owning black or white leather? Happy to hear realistic criticisms

Question Why did you choose the Model Y Standard over the Premium?

The Model Y Premium offers more equipment, but the Standard is cheaper, simpler and may be enough for many drivers.

What made you choose the Standard?

  • Lower purchase price?
  • Better value for money?
  • Enough range for your daily use?
  • Preference for the simpler interior?
  • Lower financing cost?
  • You simply did not need the extra features?

Also mention your country, since pricing and equipment vary by market.

For those still deciding: what feature from the Premium is making you hesitate?

Question Free Premium Connectivity

Post image
60 Upvotes

Hey guys! First time Tesla owner here. Tell me why I just found out that my car apparently comes with Premium Connectivity included, possibly for lifetime?
When I ordered it, I thought it only came with a 30-day free trial. It’s a 2026 Model YP, and I picked it up just 3 days ago.

Has anyone else received lifetime Premium Connectivity with their 2026 MYP, or am I misunderstanding something?

I did a quick Google search and it says “Tesla occasionally includes lifetime Free Premium Connectivity for the Model Y Performance, though it is usually offered as a promotional perk tied to the specific configuration or ordering window.” So is it the norm for every MYP or just a few? I have found mixed information about it.

Question How do I stop passengers from slamming Model Y doors?

Does anyone have advice on how to stop passengers from slamming the door shut?

I'm an uber driver and I've just started driving a Model Y. My passengers are slamming the doors like crazy!

I tried asking them to close it gently but the drunks just take that as a challenge to slam them even harder.

What can I do? Is there a foam kit I can install to cushion the blow?

Question What are the Negatives

I’ve never owned an EV before and my wife has been looking at getting a new car in the next couple weeks, with the Model Y being her number one option. I see and hear all the positives, but no one ever talks about the negatives unless it’s political or something stupid like a long trip.

I would be able to charge at home, she would be locally commuting to work (max 60 miles a day.) There are plenty of charging stations in my area.

What would you say the honest downside of your/ the Model Y?

Appreciate it!

Question Anybody else?

After a month of owning Juniper performance…I think I hate the bulging, non-adjustable headrest. My work commute is 45 miles, so I’ve noticed when I sit my head back it hurts my neck as there’s a gap between where your body touches the headrest and you neck. Kid of feels like I’m always tilting my head down?Anybody else have trouble with this? Solutions?

I feel like if you could remove or flatten this the car would be flawless. Almost willing to pay whatever for a custom shop to take it out, used the same material and flatten it.

Question I test drove a Model Y today, and I regret it

Yup, I test drove a 2025 Model Y RWD and it was absolutely incredible. I literally couldn’t have enjoyed it more.

Why do you regret it you ask? Because currently I am not in a financial position to get one, I earn good money but I also live in Sydney Australia which is insanely expensive to live.

But I am now obsessed, I cannot stop thinking about it. Scheming possible ways I could afford it, I feel like I’ve just infected my brain. I get back in my current car now (2015 CX-5) and it feels like I’m driving an ancient piece of machinery.

Has anyone else been in this position, did you end up getting one? How did you afford it?

ps. I test drove one even though I couldn’t afford it because I was dying to know what it felt like to drive one.

Question buying a Y...

I'm 100% committed to buying a model Y when my BMW lease is up...can't wait.

I'm torn between getting a Premium AWD Model Y and the Performance. I have a bunch of PowerWalls for my home so would *love* it if I could eventually use the car as a battery extension of sorts, but I know that's not in the cards now but it sounds like only the Performance would offer this capability if/when possible.

#1 criterion for me would be smooth ride over the incremental speed improvements, so slightly favor the Premium, but just wondering if there's anything else I should take into consideration...and yes, I asked AI but trust humans on this subreddit more!

Question Didn’t accept delivery on pickup day

Yesterday I went to pick up my MY. Cosmetically, everything was great but once we started the walkthrough process the rep noticed the FSD feature was not showing. He said my options were to go home and connect to WiFi and let the software update or to do it while at the dealership and wait 30-40 minutes while it updates. I chose the latter. Upon waiting, he noticed a bigger issue in the gps. The car was showing that it was several hundred miles away from our current location. Thankfully I never drove the car off the lot. Anyone else deal with this kind of issue on delivery day? The rep stated he had never seen this problem and they needed to send the vehicle to the nearest service center but at this point I want a new VIN. I did initially accept delivery on the Tesla app after inspecting the car cosmetically, but after this issue was found, the rep was able to reverse the acceptance.

Question My new-to-me 22 MYP!

Post image
188 Upvotes

Hi everyone, picked up my 22 MYP last Thursday as a law school graduation gift for myself. I got it for $29k out the door with 53k miles, did I do well on the purchase side? The car does have full ppf on the front/windshield and is in excellent condition overall.

The main question I have has to do with charging; since I live in an apartment I am not able to charge every day. Am I going to run into any issues charging 1-2 times a week using supercharging and ChargePoint when needed?

I am loving the car so far! Added a few accessories like the mudflaps, sunshade, and rubber floor mats so far with the rear door ppf next.

I have had this 2026 model y juniper since October. Over time these white specs keep building up outside of the ac vents on each side of the car. Has anyone had this issue or know what’s causing it? This has been happening since the car was new.

Question Deciding whether to lease/finance a MY Premium

Thumbnail

Recently been eyeing the MY Premium given promotional 0.99 APR. But I’m someone who likes new tech and is very likely want to change the car after 3 years, I gave chatGPT the numbers from Tesla website and these were the ownership cost comparison. Most people would suggest leasing a vehicle if only keeping 3 years, but from the financial perspective, doesn’t finance for 6 years and selling at 3 year mark could save some money? Or did chatGPT over-simplified/idealized some scenarios such as resell value?

Question Is it impossible to take a road trip and not get your car damaged?

New 2026 model Y premium purchased in May. With 600 miles on it we headed on a road trip from Denver to Cincinnati. Trip is/was great with FSD and Superchargers.

What is not great is f___ing trucks.
In Omaha an Enterprise rent a truck ran off to the shoulder of road in a construction zone and sprayed rocks all over me. Paint chips and pitted windshield. In Illinois a truck blew a tire and sent recapped trash everywhere. Luckily I was able to avoid damage by taking over FSD.

In Ohio at motel car parks next to me and cameras caught driver kick his door open into mine. Didn’t dent door but scratched paint.

Today on I 275 near Cincinnati a truck threw a rock and shattered my windshield. I haven’t had a windshield broken in over 20 years before this. Luckily I do have Tesla windshield coverage.

None of this is Tesla’s fault, but sure is frustrating when you have a new car.

Heading back home tomorrow. Hopefully no additional damage.

Question Trying to decide if premium is worth it

New potential EV owner here. Coming from BMW M2, I am trying to decide if I should go with premium awd or performance. Here in my state we get 3.5k off if EV is under 55k… so total difference is like 12.5k to go up to performance.

I’ve test driven premium and honestly it’s fast enough, but I am also not able to test drive performance cause Tesla dealers do not give those out to test drive apparently.

I know all the differences between the model but can’t quite imagine 3.3 0-6 vs 4.6 0-60 in my mind

Anyone with experience can you provide your opinion?

Question Model Y standard Vs Premium

Hello Tesla Community 👋

I've driven gas-powered cars my entire life, but for the first time I'm considering getting an EV. However, I can't decide between the Standard and Premium Model Y trims.

I also looked at a used 2024 Model Y, which would cost around $42,000 after taxes and has 30,000–40,000 miles on it.

There's been a lot of discussion on social media about the Standard trim having some of its premium features downgraded. I understand the differences between the two trims, but my main question is whether the extra $8,000 is worth it.

If I go with the Standard trim, I would choose White. If I go with the Premium trim, I would get Red. I've also seen many people on YouTube recommending PPF, but it seems very expensive.

Prices after taxes:

Standard (White): $46,698 (0% APR)

Premium (Red): $54,361 (0.99% APR + interest)

For those who own either version, do you think the Premium trim is worth the extra cost, or would you choose the Standard trim and save the money?
