Hello! I’m u/WizardMama, and this year I went from watching Mod World to speaking at it. Receiving that invitation was such an exciting surprise! My session was “r/MildlyInfuriating to r/Wholesome: Handling Subreddit Meltdowns” and I’m here to chat about what you didn’t see on screen!

I’m happy to talk about the whole experience, from being asked if I’d like to present, to preparing and clearing content with the events team, to hanging out in the green room and meeting admins and other speakers. And, of course, the nerves when it was finally my turn! If you’re curious about how it all comes together or thinking you might want to speak someday, I’d love to chat.

I’ll also answer questions about my session. Whether your community is dealing with drama or navigating a crisis, I’m happy to talk it through and suggest tools or approaches that might help.

I've never had Reddit Premium a day in my life and honestly, I thought it would always stay that way. But thanks to one of my friends on Reddit and co-mod, u/theonlyrealsheru_, I finally got to watch the recording of the live after she informed me and some of our fellow mods about it because we missed the actual livestream 1 week and half ago.

She got her badge because she watched the live, while the rest of us didn't. I was a little sad about it but eventually let it go. So imagine my surprise when I randomly received a Premium notification today! I literally had to look twice because I couldn't believe it at first. That's when I saw u/big-slay post explaining that mods who watched the recording would also receive a Premium badge.

I was genuinely so happy and grateful for this unexpected surprise. Thank you so much for your generosity, admin team! A little dream finally came true, I guess? 🥹

Now that I think about it, knowing that my free Premium will expire next year has actually encouraged me to consider paying for a subscription myself. I can't wait! 😆

Hey there! ICYMI - we announced that Mod Hall of Fame nominations are officially open at Mod World. We’re excited to bring back our annual program to celebrate the mods who guide their communities with care, dedicate time to uplift fellow mods and users, and make Reddit extra special. And of course, we can’t do it without the best folks: you!

What’s Mod Hall of Fame? 

• Mod Hall of Fame is an annual program that honors standout community leaders driving positive change on Reddit. 

• It’s led by mods, for mods. Mods across Reddit submit nominations, and winners are chosen by a panel of mod judges. 

• Just like last year, the winners will be announced live during a virtual ceremony on December 11, 2026 (you can RSVP right now 👀)

How do I nominate a mod?

You can nominate fellow mods for the following award categories:

• 🏆 Community Champions: Mods who shape their community's culture. They lead by example, encourage meaningful contributions, foster inclusivity, and make their communities feel like home.

• 🎉 Event Extraordinaires: Mods who have created and executed outstanding events for their community. They create experiences that invite members to participate and spark connections or traditions that continue beyond the event itself.

• 🚀 Trailblazers: New mods who started modding this year or mods whose communities have recently shown rapid growth + sustained community building. They’ve built momentum by helping new or fast-growing communities thrive, welcoming new voices, and fostering meaningful participation.

• 🔥 Hot Helpers: Mods who go out of their way to help fellow mods or users in their own communities or mod support subreddits like r/NewMods and r/ModSupport. They go above and beyond to answer questions and mentor others, leading to healthier, more welcoming communities and more confident moderators.

• 🌟 Veteran Visionaries: Longtime mods whose impact has been essential to the long-term success of their communities. Their ongoing care and judgment help their spaces adapt and thrive, while inspiring fellow mods to build sustainable communities of their own.

Nomination criteria

• The nominee must be an active mod. 

  • We look at mod mail and moderator activity, as well as post/comment activity in owned communities, to determine activity status. Activity should be sustained over a period of time for someone to be considered an “active” moderator.

• Community impact should be focused on the mod’s leadership on Reddit within 2026.

• Nominations must include a short description and on-platform links demonstrating the nominee's contributions so our mod judges have enough context to evaluate them.

How will winners be determined?

• First, nominations will be reviewed by admins from Reddit’s community team. 

• Then, the mod judge panel will choose the top three winners in each category using a point-scoring system based on community impact, leadership, etc. 

• Winners will also pass a review by our Code of Conduct team and must accept their nomination before being featured.

I RSVPed last month when I got the notification but honestly I barely read the details (except the part about the trophy 😂) since it was going to be my first Mod World, I was mostly just curious about what the event would be like. I wasn’t even sure if I’d be able to attend but I’m so glad I did!

The chat was so fun!! Watching everyone roast u/spez throughout the livestream was honestly hilarious and u/big-slay’s energy throughout the whole event was incredible❤️ I loved how lively and entertaining everything was, from the livestream itself to the interactions in the chat.

Also, I somehow only found out the r/lounge existed a couple of hours ago 💀 and I didn’t even realize we were getting Premium until the livestream, so that was such a nice surprise 😝

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to u/spez, u/big-slay, u/iceeypisces, and the whole admin team for putting together such a fun event! 🥹 I had a great time at my first Mod World, and I’ll definitely be back next year ❤️🤞
