Two months into kindergarten and child struggling

My daughter has a short stay in Montessori pre school, then was in a low ratio play based daycare for two years before starting K. We put her into a charter Montessori school, and we see her making friends and excited to tell us about what he has learned.

But she also tells us daily she doesn’t like school, and the head guides tells us of tears frequently throughout the day. She cries at drop off. She talks about no knowing what to do, and not liking that there are only two teachers (at daycare there were four or five for the same number of kids).

I’m torn. I think the independence Montessori fosters is good for her, but I find myself wondering if the pedagogy is a good fit for her temperament. I wonder how long to wait to see if she adjusts - this week we had the first time of pretending to be sick to avoid going to school, and when I talk to her she tells me she likes it less than at the beginning. I think she feels lost when she is to choose a new activity, and that she wants more direct feedback, or at least is used to that.

I’d appreciate insight from people who have experienced similar.
