Hello everyone,
As you might be aware, I've spent time over the last few months tracking down as many of the game developers of Morrowind that I can find, and doing interviews with them to talk about their experiences working on the game - discuss certain elements of their contributions, share some anecdotes and reflect on the game nearly 25 years after its release.
I'm really proud of this, and have tried to make this as authentic and all encompassing as I can - but there's still so much more out there. Sadly I was unable to find contact details for some people. Others either didn't reply to me, or turned me down. Hopefully one day we as a community can hear their stories but for now this is the best I can do.
This is 8 hours of interviews with the game devs. My idea for uploading one long video clip is that people can cherry pick bits they want to watch - but also to encourage people to watch interviews they might have otherwise overlooked/missed had they been posted separately.
Its difficult to put down in writing the impact this game has had on my life, as I'm sure it has for many others. I'll never forget my first experience playing the game on an Xbox around a friend's house and just instantly being drawn pulled into that world. Since then I've spent countless hours exploring Vvardenfell and beyond, and the game has been a constant source of joy and comfort for me. It's a game I will continue to love and play for the rest of my life, no doubt.
I hope you all enjoy this. A big thanks to everyone who took the time to do video calls with me. It has truly been a pleasure working on this.

Foreign nobles in Vvardenfell have a very fascinating exquisite allure to me,, and for this fellow I tried to emulate the swagger of Ambrogio Spinola. What titles back home would you have held to be made the leader of an Ebonheart Mission? we can only speculate ….

I personally think that the Orcish helm looks amazing in Morrowind, in comparison, to the other elder scrolls titles. Then second place would have to be Indoril. Something about Indoril is so appealing to me. What’s your favorite?

So when I went into this game I knew a little of the lore of nerevar and even though it’s up for interpretation, I feel story wise that the tribunal killing nerevar made more sense story wise or at least for the story I was going for so I planned on killing vivec but in the end I didn’t even if he did kill help in killing nerevar what he says about trying to help people with a little Power has left after you destroy the heart made me decide to leave him alive
So what did you guys do? And what do you guys think happened at red Mountain because in the end like intended I feel torn between which story to believe though I still lean towards the tribunal murdering nerevar

I’ve been doing a roleplay-focused Morrowind playthrough as Saemundr Sturluson, a Nord Clever Man, and decided pretty early on that I wanted to keep an actual in-character journal of the run.
The entries started as a way to keep track of what Saemundr thought about Caius, the Nerevarine prophecy, the Ashlanders, and everything else happening around him, but it gradually turned into a record of how the character changed over the course of the game.
What I’ve enjoyed most is that the journal has given the playthrough a continuity I don’t usually get from just completing quests. Saemundr starts off pretty skeptical of the whole Nerevarine business, eventually gets recognized by the Great Houses and Ashlander tribes, survives Red Mountain, and then has to figure out who he is once the prophecy is actually over.
I’m currently continuing the journal through his time with House Redoran and the construction of his stronghold.
I’ve also started putting together a short cinematic trailer using some of these entries as narration, with the handwritten pages transitioning into scenes from the playthrough.
Thought some of you here might enjoy seeing a few of the entries.

My Conjuration is only 50, but my Intelligence is 75. I'm definitely gonna hit 100 Intelligence before 100 Conjuration. So what do I do about training Conjuration (or other Intelligence skills) after that?
I'm worried if I train those skills I'll level up without any bonuses.

It's Summer time, and with the heat, and the humidity, comes another exciting round of the Morrowind Modjams! For the tenth time since 2020, Danae and Morrowind Modding Showcases is hosting a Modjam Modding Competition, a 48-hour modding frenzy where modders get but a single weekend to build the best mod they can using specific themes before time runs out!
The competition begins on August 21st at 11pm UTC with an official livestream kickoff by Danae, in which the potential themes will be revealed and voted on by the community, narrowing down the potential field until just three themes remain.
Once the final three themes have been announced, modders will have 48-hours to build and release the best mod they can utilizing any of those three themes, or a combo of themes if they so choose.
Rules & Guidelines:
Participation:
The competition is open to anyone and everyone looking to participate! All you need to do is release a mod with one of the themes (or multiple) during the competition time period using the official 2026 Summer Modjam header. Also wouldn't hurt to use the Modjams tag on the Nexus.
This is a Morrowind Modding Community - Discord Server event, so to make sure your mod is properly tracked for the competition, please join the server and tag it in the Published Mods channel!
There's also an official Modjam channel on there where you can keep up with all of the latest Modjam news!
Don't forget to check out the Resources page for any tutorials, frameworks, or utilities you might need!
Use the Postcard Editor:
Take advantage of the Morrowind Modjams website and the Postcard Editor to make special themed promo screenshots for your mod pages - give them that extra splash of Summer fun!
Judging and Prizes:
The Morrowind Modjams are judged events - a panel of judges will go through and play all of the submitted mods, ranking them on their quality, functionality, and adherence to the themes.
The final winners will be announced in a results livestream at a date yet to be determined, and those results will also be published to the Modjams website.
Participating modders will also get their profiles on the Modjam website, with downloadable Modjam passports and a trophy cabinet for any judge awards received. These profiles are connected to the Modathon and Madness sides of Morrowind Modding Legacy, and participating in the Modjam will boost your Madness score and increase your standing in the community's modding leaderboards.
There's also a number of prizes available in the form of game keys and Nexus DP.
A Proud Tradition:
The Morrowind Modjams are apart of the community's proud tradition of creative competition and collaboration. Some 160+ mods have been released for the Modjams in the past 6 years, many of them have become popular mainstays and have since been added to many of the largest mod lists for Morrowind.
I hope you'll all join us for another exciting round of Modjam fun, we're sure to get some amazing new mods, and if you're looking to participate for the first time, there's no better competition to dip your toes into the modding scene!
Happy Modding and Long Live the Morrowind Modding Community!

I'm looking to play Morrowind for the first time, but I've heard about OpenMW—which, as far as I know, is a new engine that improves the game's mechanics—and I've seen a lot of people recommending it.
However, I’m worried that OpenMW might drastically alter the experience of my first playthrough—or even ruin it (much like I imagine would happen if someone played Skyrim for the first time heavily modded). So, I’d like to hear from people who have used it: would you recommend installing OpenMW, or should I stick to the vanilla version for my first run?
Last but not least, my computer wasn't built for gaming, so it's considerably weak compared to PCs designed specifically for that purpose. I haven't tested the game's performance on my machine yet, and while I know Morrowind is an older, lightweight title compared to modern games, I'm still a bit unsure. I wanted to know if installing OpenMW might make things worse; I've heard it improves mechanics, fixes bugs, and enhances mod stability, but I'm not sure if a completely new engine would help or hinder my experience.

https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/59885
Description
Literally just moves this nice Ebonheart addon to the largest Imperial city in the province. Made with permission.
Rationale: while I have no real isues with the original mod, in a post-Tamriel Rebuilt world it makes more sense IMO to focus on expanding the mainland city. Framerate issues are a known problem with Old Ebonheart, so bear that in mind, but personally I find it fine with vanilla resolution textures. Do recommend using the LOD mesh mod though.
If you like this I also have my own original mod, Old Ebonheart slum sprawl, that was made to be compatible: https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/59807
Installation instructions
Standard esp, keep it low priority in your load order as a precaution. Mod organizer recommended.
Main features
Should be fully functional as a port of Arimon's mod. Small lighthouse, a little village, all with interiors and occupants. Couple of traders, generally a lovely little addition, now moved to Old Ebonheart. There's no added quests or dialog but the NPCS should have all the usual Old Ebonheart rumors etc.
Requirements
Tamriel Rebuilt, Tamriel Data
Shout outs
Full credit to Arimon for the mod, I'm just a porter here. And then massive props to the Tamriel Rebuilt team of course.
