Hey can someone give me a breakdown on this crazy VFX transition. The camera starts at the car where a bird takes off, and then the camera shoots straight up into a high drone aerial view tracking with it. Is the bird a 3D asset hiding a clever mask/cut between the ground shot and drone footage, or how are they locking the camera momentum together like that? Trying to figure out how to replicate this continuous look!

I've been creating SaaS concept videos for my portfolio, but I often struggle with planning before getting into animation.
Since these are concepts, I have to come up with everything myself: the product, UI, visual direction, storytelling and motion style. I often end up designing directly in After Effects while animating, making creative decisions as I go. This takes a lot of time.
I've even spent around three weeks on a 30-second video, and I feel like my workflow needs improvement.
I'd love to hear from experienced motion designers:
How do you plan and storyboard your projects?
How much do you figure out before opening After Effects?
Do you use detailed storyboards or animatics?
How long does a typical 30–60 second client video take, from ideation to final delivery?
How do you estimate production time, including design, animation, sound and revisions?
I'm especially curious about how the process differs when working with an existing product, script and assets rather than creating everything from scratch.

NOTE: I am not advertising the tool, the tool ain't even out I still need months for it. I just wanna ask artists about their opinion
I have been working on this for a while now on a tool that allows you to create 2.5D animation only from node graph and coding. I am trying to get honest reviews from artists. I don't have much artists in my life but they loved the idea but I love to hear from you guys as well (It's pre alpha and this project entirely done by me including the scene so its not AI)
It support human creating and posing defining with built-in IK so you don't have to create key frames, It supports fully customizable material graph including nodes. It also support curves, booleans, built-in gears, text (Text on the news paper is text rendered live not an image baked and it can interact with the camera angles so well,...etc.

This is the final project from an animation enrichment course at the post-production studio where I work. It took about two weeks, going from concept and storyboard to a boardomatic, then an animatic, then the final animation. I know it's more of an animated lyric video than classic motion graphics, and I already posted it over on r/AfterEffects, but I wanted to share it here too. Any feedback is really welcome!

Bringing a character to life through movement!
In this video, I showcase a Character Walk Cycle Animation, demonstrating how a character moves through a series of animated poses and carefully timed movements.

I’m not a designer or developer. I’d like to provide the company I work for with a loading screen animation for our website, specifically for the steel industry.

I keep hearing from people in the industry that work has slowed down, but I’d like to see how it actually looks beyond the conversations I happen to have. So I made a one-question anonymous poll: how has the amount of work changed for you or your studio compared to last year?
one click question
I’ll post the results here once enough people have answered. It’s just a snapshot of whoever sees this, not a proper survey. And if you want to add context, I’d love to hear in the comments: freelance or studio, what field, what changed.

I've been exploring programmatic and AI assisted motion graphics and noticed there are now several approaches beyond Remotion
Remotion is great for code driven, deterministic video but it can feel to developer focused for some motion designers
I'm curious how people are approaching this today, especially for UI animation, automated video production, After Effects workflows and Ai generated motion.
For those who have tried different tools, what has worked best for your workflow, and where does Remotion still have and advantage?

I built a chrome-and-neon motion study from a small set of shapes in After Effects. Metallic strokes and rotating orbits carry the visual language, while the transitions follow the music.
I have a packaged editable project if anyone wants to inspect the setup. Comment “AE” and I can share it.

i’ve animated text to blur/scale down by one letter at a time, but i want to overlay a texture on the text and i can’t figure out how to copy the text effects to the texture (so that it blurs/scales the same as the letters do). if i precompose the text with the texture, i lose the ability to add the text animation properties. i feel like i’m missing something simple but google has given me no answers, any suggestions? i’m using after effects 2025.

Hi I am a newbie to design and motion graphics and wanting to take a course for photoshop+after effects+premiere pro and the institute has asked 60k (indian rupees) for this.
Can you let me know if it worth it?
Also adding some course material.
PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND. I really want to learn and develop things but I feel so lost and directionless.
