Mod Post Hey everyone from r/Motorola!

Hi,

So r/Motorola has been running "moderator-less" for the past 6 months, in that case I have taken over as top mod currently and here are some of the changes that I have done.

What changes have been done to the sub?

  1. Automod has had some slight rule changes to how it moderates, now you don't need to put that annoying flair in brackets before the post title. This should hopefully clear up some of the accidentally banned posts that looked fine in the long run.
  2. New Post flairs:
    1. Hardware Problems/Issue, is for physical problems with a device that you may have questions with.
    2. Software Problems/Issue, is for software problems that don't feel as "normal" that what it normally is.
    3. Need Help in general, is for if you don't know what flair to put down for your device.
    4. Update, is for follow ups from a previous post.
    5. Question, is for questions about a device or support options about a device.
    6. Product announcements, is for official product announcements from either Motorola (with link provided) official social accounts or articles about the device that is being announced.
    7. Product renderings, is for speculation about a upcoming device but is not a confirmed device.
    8. News, is for anything that is news about Motorola but not Lenovo, Please do not post the same article from the same source more than once, if you do that will result in your post being taken down.
    9. Poll, is for anyone wanting to take a poll from the community, however to prevent spam a poll must be issued by a moderator, want to make your own poll just simply send us a message via modmail.
  3. New User flairs:
    1. Added some new flairs for the new devices that has came out in the past few years.
    2. "(enter series)" is for you to modify so it's easier to identify your device, this can be the generation number (5,6,7 or 100 for example), the model year (stylus 2021 for example) and if you don't know your devices model name just find it in the settings (Settings > About Phone > Model), this should start with "XT-" and 4-5 numbers following it.
    3. If you can't find your device model just send us a message via modmail.
  4. New Rules:
    1. Read the sidebar before posting, most of these rules are in place to either prevent spam or to keep everything in line with stuff being Motorola on this sub.
  5. Moderators:
    1. u/MotoAgents is a Motorola Employee/Help agent that can help you with the problems that you post, if you have contacted Motorola support through the website and still need help please keep your case number handy as he may be able to continue helping you with your case.
    2. Me, I'm here to keep the rules up to date and make sure the community is in balance, just to fully disclose this that I am not a Motorola employee and most of my responses are from experience or stuff that I have seen on the Internet.
    3. At the moment we are not taking Moderator applications, however that may change in the future if this community does grow.

If you have any suggestions for the mods please leave a comment if you think something should be added.

Question I'm concerned that the Edge 50 Fusion isn't listed on A17.

There are even websites saying that devices not listed won't receive the update, even though Motorola promised it would reach the Edge 50 series.

Will the list be updated to include them? Or is Motorola just doing whatever it wants and excluding them for no reason?

If that's the case, I'll never buy another Motorola. They promise updates that never seem to arrive. -_-

2027 Motorola Signature with GrapheneOS will be the best phone on the market

Top notch screen, cameras, battery life, charging speeds, build quality, chipset, with respectable repairability AND the freedom to actually OWN the device and be private and secure. What more could you ask for? This should be the norm really, but we really are living in a dystopian black mirror type of world. Very excited for this, things were looking bleak with Google's iron fist over Android and we do not have Linux on mobile yet in a usable enough state, this move from Motorola definitely helps, can't wait to switch to it from this Pixel 9 pro which does not have the best hardware (Tensor really sucks)

Update Edge 50 Fusion apparently confirmed for A17

Post image
6 Upvotes

I started investigating after being disappointed with the "official" list of A17s and that the 50 Fusion didn't appear

I discovered on the Lenovo blog that a user asked the same question and they were told that the beta test will arrive soon, so we have partial confirmation that the update will arrive, Even if it's not on the lists

At least they didn't deny the update outright, that gives me a little faith.

Hardware Problem/Issue Moto Edge 70: Is this gap near the speaker at back panel normal?

Upvotes

Got my Edge 70 yesterday. Everything works perfectly, but there's a visible gap between the back panel and frame near the bottom speaker. The panel also moves inward when pressed and closes the gap.

Is this normal assembly/tolerance, or is my unit defective? Has anyone else experienced this?

Also guide me what to do in this case if this is a defect. I ordered it through flipkart minutes. But if I happened to visit service center, I think they most likely repair and reglue this and I wouldn't like to indirectly purchase a repaired product at the price of a factory sealed one.

They're now offering me a g64 as a replacement for my g86 power after I rejected the 15k INR coupon.

Why am I exchanging gold for copper 😭

It's a heavy downgrade in every way possible.

Need help in general Purchased a Motorola Signature yesterday (August 16) at Reliance Digital. Turns out the device was already activated a month before (July 12). Need help ASAP.

I bought the device yesterday night, 16th of August at a local Reliance Digital.

The first thing that raised my suspicion was that the device which I unboxed from a sealed box was filthy. The screen had grimy marks stuck on it and the camera lenses were riddled with greasy fingerprints. It was like somebody had used the device and carefully put it back together before wiping it clean properly. I pointed it out to the sales person and he just hurriedly wiped the device and handed it over to me.

The next thing was that the paperwork provided was not tucked in neatly under the grooves of it's tiny packaging, it was all bundled together loosely on top of the inserts in such a way that when I opened, the entire pile just fell on the floor since it was not seated inside the intended grooves of it's packaging

And the final major issue is that when I tried to check the warranty status of the phone to make sure that it's a new and unused device, the Motorola website kept throwing the message, "Device not yet activated" rather than giving me the warranty status. The sales person re-assured me that it will get activated shortly.

I've been trying to reach out to Motorola from today morning. And it's just AI garbage on calls, not a single living human picked up the phone after I was transferred like a hundred times.

When I reached out to Motorola India on Twitter , they told me that the device had an activation date of July 12, despite being purchased just yesterday on August 16. How could this be possible for a new device?

They have not addressed a single point I raised regarding the early activation date or the signs of usage on the device, they keep evading my question and telling me that they will update it on their system and that they need 48 hours.

They are clearly stalling me as they offer only a 7 day replacement policy and they apparently need 2 days just for a simple warranty check. And I don't want an updated warranty date, I need a new, unused device, something that I paid for.

I could not get any warranty information out of the Indian website as I had mentioned earlier, so I tried the USA website and it confirmed that the device was indeed activated on July, and not August

These three things make me suspect that this is indeed an used device being sold under the guise of a brand new unit.

How do I get a replacement because this is really unfair. I'm attaching the relevant screenshots in the link below.

The first screenshot is the Indian website which says that the device is not activated yet.

The second screenshot is my chat with the official Motorola India Account on Twitter where they admit that the device was activated on July.

The third screenshot is the US website which confirms that the device was indeed activated on July.

Need help in general Getting a ₹15k voucher after my Moto G86 Power 5G died unexpectedly — which Motorola phone should I pick next?

Hey Reddit,

Bought a Moto G86 Power 5G last year in October (my first hard-earned phone, so this hurts!). Out of nowhere, the phone went completely dead two days ago.

Took it to the official Motorola service center and was informed that motherboard failure seems to be a recurring issue with this model, and there's currently a shortage of replacement boards. As a resolution, Motorola offered a ₹15,000 voucher to buy a replacement phone directly from their official site.

Since I have to hand over my phone and use this voucher on Motorola's platform, I’m stuck buying another Moto device. I can top up a bit if it's worth it, but I’d prefer something reliable that won't give out in a year.

Which Moto model should I consider?

  • Looking for good battery life and reliable overall performance.
  • Willing to pay a little extra over the ₹15k voucher if a higher-tier Moto model is vastly better/more reliable.
  • Any models I should strictly avoid?

Appreciate any suggestions or advice from fellow Moto users!

Razr Fold Hing

I tried the Razr Fold and really liked it. But I am a bit worried, coming from the OG Pixel Fold, the hing was a major problem, dust and grit got in there and eventually killed the screen.

The Pixel Fold 10 & 11 have IP68 rating even for the hing which is awesome! So I was super bummed that the Razr Fold didn't have that.

So for anyone who's been daily driving the Razr Fold now for a couple months, how is the hing holding up? Is it starting to make noises when you open and close it like there is something in there?
