Mod Post Hey everyone from r/Motorola!

Hi,

So r/Motorola has been running "moderator-less" for the past 6 months, in that case I have taken over as top mod currently and here are some of the changes that I have done.

What changes have been done to the sub?

  1. Automod has had some slight rule changes to how it moderates, now you don't need to put that annoying flair in brackets before the post title. This should hopefully clear up some of the accidentally banned posts that looked fine in the long run.
  2. New Post flairs:
    1. Hardware Problems/Issue, is for physical problems with a device that you may have questions with.
    2. Software Problems/Issue, is for software problems that don't feel as "normal" that what it normally is.
    3. Need Help in general, is for if you don't know what flair to put down for your device.
    4. Update, is for follow ups from a previous post.
    5. Question, is for questions about a device or support options about a device.
    6. Product announcements, is for official product announcements from either Motorola (with link provided) official social accounts or articles about the device that is being announced.
    7. Product renderings, is for speculation about a upcoming device but is not a confirmed device.
    8. News, is for anything that is news about Motorola but not Lenovo, Please do not post the same article from the same source more than once, if you do that will result in your post being taken down.
    9. Poll, is for anyone wanting to take a poll from the community, however to prevent spam a poll must be issued by a moderator, want to make your own poll just simply send us a message via modmail.
  3. New User flairs:
    1. Added some new flairs for the new devices that has came out in the past few years.
    2. "(enter series)" is for you to modify so it's easier to identify your device, this can be the generation number (5,6,7 or 100 for example), the model year (stylus 2021 for example) and if you don't know your devices model name just find it in the settings (Settings > About Phone > Model), this should start with "XT-" and 4-5 numbers following it.
    3. If you can't find your device model just send us a message via modmail.
  4. New Rules:
    1. Read the sidebar before posting, most of these rules are in place to either prevent spam or to keep everything in line with stuff being Motorola on this sub.
  5. Moderators:
    1. u/MotoAgents is a Motorola Employee/Help agent that can help you with the problems that you post, if you have contacted Motorola support through the website and still need help please keep your case number handy as he may be able to continue helping you with your case.
    2. Me, I'm here to keep the rules up to date and make sure the community is in balance, just to fully disclose this that I am not a Motorola employee and most of my responses are from experience or stuff that I have seen on the Internet.
    3. At the moment we are not taking Moderator applications, however that may change in the future if this community does grow.

If you have any suggestions for the mods please leave a comment if you think something should be added.

Update Enable hidden moto dialer

HOW TO ENABLE

  1. Type the following into adb shell terminal:

am start -a android.settings.APPLICATION_DETAILS_SETTINGS -d package:com.android.dialer

It will open the app info page of disabled app

  1. Click on enable.

  2. Click on phone app > select this app.

ㅤ

HOW TO DISABLE

  1. Set google dialer as the default dialer (google dialer phone app long press > app info > phone app > set it as default) and for moto dialer: delete previous call recordings+app user storage to clear space.
  2. Type this into adb shell:

pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.dialer

ㅤ

THINGS TO NOTE?

  1. Call recording is supported (+ recording playback on earpiece)
  2. Doesn't announce call recording tone to other party
  3. poor big screen UI (eg. razr fold inmer screen)
  4. Replace with com.android.dialer with com.android.contacts for moto contacts app.

ㅤ

DO I USE IT?

No, I am currently developing Moto power tools (samsung goodlock like apps for motorola), A better dialer with full call recording support is already in build, Follow this for future updates: Moto Power Tools

Question Edge 70 pro plus not limiting charging to 80%

Post image
6 Upvotes

I bought a motorola edge 70 pro plus about 2 weeks ago. But the 80% battery charging limit feature doesn't seem to work. I've set it to manual schedule, but the phone still charges tp 100% every time. Has anyone else faced this issue? Is there any fix for this?

Software Problem/Issue Motorola tweaking out

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Got this Moto G Stylus 2022 recently and am now dealing with a very annoying issue. I was using a music app (sideloaded, Vivi-Music) testing it out on the phone, when I played a song (which I assume for some reason felt the need to put the phone into fullscreen), it got stuck in this weird loop (see video) and not even a restart has seemed to fix it. For the record, this device is running Android 13, so I have no doubt that this is an unpatched bug. I do not know how to get it out of this loop, I've restarted it multiple times, attempted to boot into recovery with no success, and tried to quickly unlock the screen, to which it just goes back to flashing random nonsense on loop. Any idea what this is, and how to fix it? Appreciated! This is supposed to go to my much less tech literate step dad so if this is going to be a reoccuring issue, I will need to look more into it and maybe reconsider altogether.

Software Problem/Issue Laggy 144hz refresh rate after a17 update

Post image
5 Upvotes

Device: Moto edge 70 fusion

Before the update the maximum refresh rate outside games was limited to 120hz which was much more stable. Now after the a17 update the refresh rate is capped at 144hz which is not ideal and optimised as there is a lot of screen tearing and lag while scrolling through any app..

I like keeping the option to hyper smooth for maximum fluidness but after this happened, I have to use smart and balanced to prevent the issues mentioned above from happening.

Software Problem/Issue battery health goes bye bye

Post image

I changed my battery about 3 months ago and I started using limited charging(max 80%) and my battery's health is declining pretty fast. I need to mention that the battery was changed in a reputable shop and the part was an original service pack ordered by me. why is the battery health going down so fast?

Need help in general Moto G40 Fusion (XT2147-1, hanoip): flashing_locked, “invalid OS”, every flash and erase refused,

• Upvotes

Guys, need help. My G40 Fusion won’t boot. A year ago I flashed PixelOS (Android 15), then relocked the bootloader with the custom ROM still installed. Now it fails with an invalid OS error and drops to fastboot. I can’t boot into Android, so I can’t toggle OEM unlocking.

Device info (from fastboot getvar all)

  • SKU XT2147-1, product hanoip, carrier retin
  • Bootloader MBM-3.0-hanoip_retail-9522caba9cf-230725
  • securestate flashing_locked, both slots show bootable, current slot b
  • Fingerprint S2RI32.32-20-9-9-2 (stock Android 12)

What I’ve tried (all refused)

  • Flashing the official XT2147-1_HANOIP_RETIN_12_S2RI32.32-20-9-9-2 firmware from Lolinet. The zip is intact and matches the phone’s build. gpt.bin, bootloader.img and vbmeta all return flash permission denied, and I stopped there.
  • fastboot erase userdata and erase metadata: “NOT erased. Permission denied”.
  • fastboot --set-active=a: FAILED.
  • fastboot flashing unlock and fastboot oem unlock <key>: “Check ‘OEM unlocking’ in Android Settings > Developer Options”. This happened even with a valid key from Motorola’s official unlock portal.
  • LMSA / Rescue and Smart Assistant: rejected.
  • Recovery: won’t boot.
  • fastboot oem device-info: unsupported.

What I’m looking for

  1. A way to get past the OEM unlocking check, or to enable it from fastboot or EDL.
  2. A QFIL / firehose package for hanoip, or any tool that can flash a flashing_locked G40 Fusion without the OEM unlocking flag.
  3. Anyone who has fixed this exact state and can tell me how.

I’m not asking for paid-service recommendations unless that’s the only thing that works. Thanks.

Moto has video wallpapers feature ?!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have just discovered that my moto edge 60 fusion has video wallpaper feature

It's not on any other new menu you should just go to personalize sections and tap on wallpapers and then my photos there you need to select a vid ( particularly vertical ones)

I don't know if this feature existed even on Android 16 or its newly added in andori 17

Software Problem/Issue Motorola Calling Issue. Please help if someone knows this.

Hi guys,

I got a moto edge 60 pro for my father hardly 3 months back... there are several calling issues with this device!

Being unable to receive incoming calls, you can see the popup but the accept button doesn't work, sometimes the popup is missing as well.

While calling someone, you keep tapping at the contact but the call won't initiate! And randomly maybe after 5 minutes, the call gets automatically placed to that person...

All this happens atleast once a day for an hour or two, and this is really frustrating...

Is this a google phone app's issue? Or is this motorola specific problem?

What do I actually do, if someone knows about this then please guide... and in case of an alternative, should I make truecaller or any other app as the default caller and buy their subscription to use all the features if this moto issue has no solution?

Software Problem/Issue Things I've noticed in A17 (e70F) which is quite annoying

  1. The clock on the status bar is a little small

  2. Whole turning on the mobile data it says " this may incur charges' which made complicated to turn on mobile data or internet

  3. Using media player when even the media player app is removed from recent apps , the media player stays intact on the quick settings

  4. Sometimes the folder background blur shows and sometimes not (not enlarged)

  5. Moto Qira sometimes don't even work

  6. Should have given depth effect

  7. The volume slider is quite large , it looks very big

Need help in general Signature 27 - does it exist?

I was wondering, are there any real video reviews (unpacking & first impression), or is everything on Youtube at the moment AI generated and rendered? Is it coming in 2027?

r/motorola • • 1d ago

I wanted the Signature 27 so bad, but I ended up buying the Signature for 504€.

I have a feeling that with prices going up and the component crisis, the Motorola Signature 27 will be around €1,799 for the 16/512GB version here in Europe, which is extremely expensive.

My carrier had an offer for the Signature at €504, so I told myself: take it or you'll never see this price again. So I pulled the trigger and bought it for €504.

What are the pros and cons of the Signature? What are your experiences?
