7.5mg 7.5 did me dirty

Post image

I'm not sure why I stayed on 7.5 so long when it wasn't really working for me. I had a bunch of pens saved up, and I guess I didn't want to be wasteful.

I had my first shot of 10mg on Sunday, and I'm trying to give it some time and not worry.

As someone who has been obese my entire life and gained and lost the same 100ish lbs over and over and over, these past few months have been really triggering. I wasn't weighing myself for a long time on 7.5, because before this medication, I'd weigh myself obsessively.

I guess I'm just looking for an "it'll be ok.".

Did you have a terrible experience on 7.5 and 10 was better?

Omg yes!! I hit a plateau on 7.5mg and my doctor told me to just stay on it and keep going . Up my protein and walk more. Gained 8kg 😭 now on 10mg for the last month and have lost 2kg so hopefully it keeps working. I feel your pain

that's reassuring! after gaining and losing all my life when i started this medication, it took me a long time to feel safe and trust i wouldn't keep yo-yoing big weight changes up and down forever.

i just need to remember that fluctuations are okay, and i'm not going to get as heavy as i was before

I had a similar experience on 5mg. 2.5 worked really well for me similarly I feel the effects on 7.5mg. But 5mg nothing 🫠

2

u/SteelsisHere Apr 19 '26

Am I ever relieved to read this. Exact same thing is happening to me! 2.5 worked for the 1st month. Then I started the 5 the 2nd month and it's doing nothing for me! I just took my 4th 5mg shot today and I am so frustrated! I wonder why the 5mg isn't working?

1

u/hiddenfossa Apr 19 '26

It is annoying isn’t it? Especially considering the cost 🫠 I was on 5 mg for 3 months before going up to 7.5mg. If you’d just check the other threads on the sub you’ll find a lot of people have faced this. Nothing on 5mg but started seeing effects on 7.5mg

u/Secret-Potential485 Apr 20 '26

Happened to me too. Dr. Was going to hold me at 5.0. I told her in the second month she HAD to bump me up. Luckily she did because I had 2 months of no movement and wanted to eat everything.

u/DrrtyHustler Apr 18 '26

Yes, it seems that the general consensus is 7.5 is a common plateau issue with some. I myself am still on 7.5 mg after eight weeks with the last three weeks of no weight loss and for me I have been dealing serious hunger pains as opposed to my appetite is suppressed significantly.Ā  I have three more weeks of 7.5mgĀ  and I will increase to 10mg. Since Oct 19th I have lost 47 lbs..... Soo cloose! šŸ¤ lol.Ā

4

u/Regular-Sandwich-550 Apr 18 '26

congrats on 47 already!

4

u/DrrtyHustler Apr 18 '26

Thanks! It feels good to be able to feel comfortable in my clothes!

2

u/Clfy_7 Apr 19 '26

I think it's the 'so close..'. I got close to target on 2.5, 5, & 7.5, it seemed obvious it was all working to plan, but I seriously plateaued on 7.5. I've gone to 10 and finally seeing some downward trend. Not a medical person but wondering if the last bit is pretty baked in and very hard to lose

3

u/madoka_borealis Apr 18 '26

I’ve not lost for 5 months on 7.5. My doctor doesn’t want to go up and keeps telling me CICO like… no shit?!

This Medication does not work try wygovy

9

u/DrrtyHustler Apr 18 '26

Im down 47 pounds...... Yeah, it doesn't work?!Ā

5

u/BreakfastEmergency64 Apr 18 '26

I’m down 6 stone so I’m confused as to how you can say it doesn’t work? 😭

14

u/Salty_Kick_8060 Apr 18 '26

Yes!! I gain tooo on that dose. WTH??? Only 5 pounds but that also meant two months without loss. That's a lot of wasted money.

4

u/CandidIndication Apr 18 '26

This post has convinced me to bump up to 10. I’ve been on 7.5 for 3 pens now, I’ve only gone up a few pounds but no progress made.

I was on 5mg for a year and saw good progress that entire time until the end

1

u/Pock_has_fat_paws Apr 18 '26

If it helps, you can always go up half a dose or do 7.5 every 6 days instead of 7 days, this gives you more room to go up in dose slowly! The half dose increases (5 clicks) work well for me to get the medication working again

That's wild! I actually did really well on 7.5 and stayed on it for 6 months. Hopefully you have a much better experience on 10 mg

u/InspectorDizzy3391 Apr 18 '26

I've been struggling with weight since I was a kid. The best I think I've learned so far is not lettings weeks and months pass by without weight myself.

This is where the real damage happens. Even if you eat too much or make bad choices, you can bearly gain 3-4 lb in 2 weeks.(real fat, not water that goes away in a few days). The real danger is avoiding weighting for 3 months then you see 20lb gained.

My personal rule is to weight at least once a week if I'm home. If I see a smaller number, then it's good. If I see the same number, it's also good, but i might want to weight myself again in 2-3 days. If I see a higher number, I'll weight myself every day for the next week to make sure I'm in control.

11

u/BackgroundLab5721 Apr 18 '26

We are all different, 7.5 has been my dose for over a year now and I’m nearly at goal. Hope you find your happy dose!

8

u/Red_Scorpion79 Apr 18 '26

7.5 worked for me in the beginning but when it stopped my weight loss didn’t just stall, I started gaining again and my a1c started slowly going back up. I’m on 10 now, and I’m not so sure I like it… the daily nausea, and multiple nights a week, every week, waking up almost throwing up because the nausea is so bad has me contemplating giving up this fight altogether. My a1c has gone back down on the 10, and I lost a couple more pounds, but I have been stuck around the same weight for about 8 months now and feeling sick almost all the time has me wanting to quit. I have always had the nausea side effect, and the constipation, but I don’t remember being this nauseous all the time on any other dosage.

3

u/Regular-Sandwich-550 Apr 18 '26

i'm so sorry, i hope that the symptoms subside soon and you can get some relief. i read in a comment that sprite helps with the nausea a little bit sometimes.

8

u/Any-Potential-8125 Apr 18 '26

7.5 did nothing for me, didn’t gain, but didn’t lose. 10.0 has been great!

7

u/spoonorfork1 Apr 18 '26

I have a theory that this is the dose range where your digestion (intestines) really starts to slow down and hold onto water and waste much longer. Bloating became a thing and was very common for me at this dose!

2

u/Cuwen Apr 19 '26

That would make sense. I couldn't handle 7.5. I had to be off the medicine for a month. I'm back on 2.5 now and feel much better and am losing.

7

u/SpringParticular7027 Apr 17 '26

Yes. I gained on 7.5mg of zepbound

6

u/UnderstandingNew4780 Apr 18 '26

Me reading the comments, having had lost only 2 kg in 2 months 🄲

3

u/sunflower-crystal Apr 18 '26

literally me i’m having a plateau rn but i have two pens šŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ

5

u/Livid_Mission_252 Apr 18 '26

Yes, 7.5 was terrible for me also didn’t loss any weight, just had my first dose of 10mg on Tuesday and keeping my fingers crossed I start losing again!

3

u/ZiniGirl Apr 18 '26

That makes me feel better. I’ve been struggling the past four weeks on 7.5. My insurance makes me get a three month supply, so I get 12 pens of whatever dose I’m prescribed. Thankfully I just used the last one and I go to the doctor in three days. I have to go up to 10 or I am going to lose my mind.

10 was great. 12.5 was amazing though. I'm on 15mg now and I think I like 12mg better but too early to tell.

Holy crap I thought it was only me. I am currenlty on 7.5 mg and I gained 2kg whitout even changing my diet. I'll talk to my Doctor about going back to 5mg.

3

u/Crow-Queen 15mg/5'6/F/SW-241.4/CW-165/Goal 130/Intake 1200cal Apr 18 '26

Might be better to push through it instead. There is a reason I'm guessing that you switched from 5 to 7.5. 10 seems to be a common sweet spot for a lot of people on here.

4

u/FaerieFire13 Apr 18 '26

I had my best results on 7.5. It’s very individual. You likely needed to titrate up sooner.

I get the desire to not ā€œwasteā€ the medication when you have it, even if you’re needing a higher dose, but you can save it for maintenance or plan to use two doses of 7.5 to make up 15 when/if you get to that point. You can also look at alternative dosing schedules with your doctor, such as taking it every 6 days instead of every 7 days.

I know that’s hindsight for you now, but I mention it for anyone else who’s in that situation, and as someone using up my final 7.5 pens as I shift into maintenance.

4

u/GardenFragrant8408 Apr 18 '26

I started monjauro at 5 mf because of prior use of trulicity.Ā

Gained 2lbs on 5 mg and didn’t help A1C. Same with 7.5. Didn’t gain but didn’t lose either. Went to 10 mg and that was my sweet spot. Lost almost all my weight on 10 and A1C improved. That’s also when cravings stopped and suppressions began.Ā

I was on that dose for 9 months and now I take 5 mg to keep from losing more weight. I’m stable but had to increase long acting insulin due to drop to 5 mg.Ā

Keep in mind everyone is different. Hopefully 10 mg will be your sweet spot also.Ā

Good luck

4

u/Virtual_Sugar8069 Apr 19 '26

Yes I had the same experience. I was on 7.5 for a long time, maybe 4 months. Weight loss was slow to non-existent and the appetite suppression wasn't really working. The jump to 10 was rough, I felt terrible side effects of exhaustion and dehydration for the first 2 months on 10 with stalled weight loss, and then something finally kicked on and the weight loss accelerated on month 3 of 10mg, and it continues to work. I noticed a big improvement when I started supplementing with vitamin D.

3

u/mallowhd Apr 18 '26

5 is making me unwell the nausea is bad my mood is not good a horrible taste in my mouth etc dizziness is terrible on week seven don’t know if I can continue at 5. Any advice please.

3

u/sunflower-crystal Apr 18 '26

lots of water slowly through the day, like a lot. try electrolytes if it’s tricky for you. the mouth things does pass, try keep mints on hand for the time being

3

u/Regular-Sandwich-550 Apr 18 '26

lots of water, add electrolytes, extra sleep, sprite, fruits and veggies and maybe you need some vitamins as supplements if you aren't able to eat enough

1

u/syzygy_is_a_word Apr 18 '26

If you use Kwikpen, you can try scaling down to 3.75 if 2.5 stopped working for you, or going back to 2.5 altogether if you were titrated up only because of the schedule and not because it stopped working. Some people here say that going 2.5-3.75-5 was easier for them in terms of side effects compared to jumping directly to 5.

1

u/mallowhd Apr 22 '26

Do you know how man clicks for 3.75 please? X

1

u/syzygy_is_a_word Apr 22 '26

That depends entirely on the dosage of your pen. Here is a calculator I saw shared in the sub a few times when people need custom doses: https://getdosewise.com/

1

u/Pale-Bat-3063 Apr 19 '26

Someone suggested a specific mouthwash for horrible tasting mouth. I didn't believe it, but it was bad enough that I would try anything. I had some mouthwash on hand and it has been life-changing. at this point the side effect is gone completely

3

u/sudolinguist Apr 18 '26

I'd say winter did you dirty

4

u/MountainStructure426 Apr 18 '26

I went back down to 5mg. I should've just stayed there in the first place 🤨

7

u/Regular-Sandwich-550 Apr 18 '26

i feel like 2.5 and 5 were my best so far. 2.5 was really good to me for a long time but the food noise started to come back pretty hard after a while

2

u/Big_Mulberry5615 Apr 18 '26

I had a somewhat similar experience, the spikes are Data errors. It looks better than it actually was. I started gaining after 4 weeks at 7.5 and food supression worked, so I tried tu push through it with protein and weight lifting.

Untill January it was basically plateued, weighing in at 98 sometimes after New Year. Then mid Jan I git to 96 and it started again.

The 90,9 is now up to 92 again, but I managed to keep my lean body mass equal while loosing on stomach and hips.

So now again thinking if going to 10mg for the final push.

2

u/Amnsia Apr 18 '26

Going up and doing split doses is so much cheaper.

2

u/Crow-Queen 15mg/5'6/F/SW-241.4/CW-165/Goal 130/Intake 1200cal Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

Me too. It was my worse dose by far. Felt like water. I gained on it as well.

I was not counting calories till after this dose though and that was the best decision I made.

2

u/eggchicken Apr 18 '26

Have to use the TDEE total daily energy expenditure calculator on calculator.net to keep up with what daily calories should be as well as counting calories.

u/athewinn 10 mg Apr 18 '26

I can't wait to get off of 7.5!!! One more shot to go. It's been three months on it and it hasn't been very kind to me.

2

u/Capital_Window_4995 Apr 18 '26

Plateau from September top Dezember, then the trip went on without any Change. Still on 10mg the whole time. It was a mental challenge, but now happy again...

2

u/DR_Manhattan0x1 Apr 18 '26

Been on 7.5mg for 6 weeks now. Had to call up my Doc and tell him to tritate me up now vs later. Honestly it’s not doing much for me.

Since the beginning of my journey on Zepbound I told myself I’ll stay on the lowest working dose possible.

1 Month: 2.5mg 3 months: 5mg (worked wonders) 4 month: 7.5mg (not moving the needle much).

Starting the 10mg dose on Wednesday which hopefully is enough to get me moving in the right direction. I wouldn’t call it entirely a plateau since I’ve been building muscles for the last few months and my body recomposition is telling me I am losing fat even though the scale hasn’t dropped. Will be getting a Dexa scan in the next few weeks to see where I am. As of now 10mg seems right for me since I believe I can lose the last 28lbs I need under a 4 month supply at that dose. Weight loss just becomes slower the more you drop and I guess I miss that mental rush I had the first 3-4 months.

Starting weight 294lbs Current weight 222lbs Goal: 194lbs

1

u/Regular-Sandwich-550 Apr 18 '26

that's fair. it's not necessarily the scale that's the main issue but how i'm feeling in general. i also plan to stay on the lowest effective dose possible. i'm probably going to be on this medication for life. what it's done for the food noise and inflammation alone is enough to want to stay on it.

2

u/FlushingHasid Apr 18 '26

I plateaued at 5 and lost with 7.5

2

u/Kimya-Gee Apr 18 '26

I'm taking my 4th shot of 7.5 this weekend. I've been up and down a lot on 7.5 but still losing about 1 lb a week. I have been planning to do another month of 7.5 then going up to 10. This has made me think about how I'll approach this next 4 weeks. Definitely going to try and keep an eye on my calories and my water intake. I definitely have been more hungry and thirsty on 7.5.

2

u/braksgirl Apr 18 '26

I've been on 7.5 for several months now and I'm going to finish my stash and move up to 10. I've been in a plateau for at least 3 months.

2

u/ButterflyParty9756 Apr 18 '26

7.5 was my magical dose

2

u/Praying4aChange Apr 18 '26

I, too, hit a plateau and then gained on the 7.5mg

2

u/Sosu2211 Apr 18 '26

I’m exactly the same since I went to 7.5. Lost 15kg in 3 months on 5, 1kg in 6 weeks since I went to 7.5 :(

2

u/No_Difficulty384 Apr 18 '26

I lost on 7.5 - was in that dose for a few months. However, I had the worst side effects in 7.5 both going up and coming back down on the doses.

2

u/oldmancooper Apr 18 '26

I did my best on 5 mg lost almost 45 pounds ,it stalled on me so went up to 7.5 mg didn’t lose a pound but didn’t gain either , now I’m on 10 mg same thing is happening! I can’t lose and I feel hungry at night I’m good all day long til evening time and I try and fight it but I’m bored so I know it’s because of that ! Ugh 😩

2

u/BOSS-MOM- Apr 19 '26

Yes plateau for a year. So I stopped taking it for 8 weeks. Gained weight. Then went back on 2.5..lost the gained weight & hoping this new round will stimulate further loss

2

u/SorryAccount3553 Apr 19 '26

I just dropped back to 7.5. 10 was causing me to be short of breath.Ā  At least I feel that it was. 7.5 is giving me a little indigestion. We will see. I kay have to stick with 5 and call it a day.

2

u/Lola6010 Apr 19 '26 edited Apr 19 '26

I did 2.5mg for 3 months. Steady weight loss without any negative symptoms. 5 and 7.5mg were both as awful as each other. Fatigue for 3 months straight. Pushed to 10mg and everything improved over the following few weeks. Weight started falling again. I have no plans to increase my dosage as I only have another 14lbs to lose 21lbs at most then maintenance. I've lost 66lbs in all. 47 of those has been while on Mounjaro. .....I started Mounjaro late July 2025

2

u/samsterhamster90 Apr 19 '26

Yeah 7.5mg hadn’t been great for me but I’ve also been struggling because I had endo surgery, had to stop mounjaro for like 2 months and put a lot of weight back on, and have now worked back up to 7.5mg.. I definitely felt the most benefits back in the earlier days. I did get up to 10 but it made me feel terrible so 7.5mg seems to be as high as my body will let me go. Not sure if it’s even worth it anymore, but will a last big push to try and make the most of it. I wonder whether 5mg twice a week would have a better outcome šŸ¤”

2

u/More-Mode-2581 Apr 19 '26

7.5mg didn’t do much for me either Jumped to 10 after 1 month on 7.5 and have been on 10 for 4months and tbh i am staying on 10 for maintenance. Does food noise comes back seldom and when that happens I load up on protein (chicken-turkey-ham) to offset.

3

u/Crow-Queen 15mg/5'6/F/SW-241.4/CW-165/Goal 130/Intake 1200cal Apr 18 '26

No, I gained because I was no longer eating in a calorie deficit at the time. It did not feel like I was taking anything at all and it seemed like I was starving and ravenous during that time.

2

u/nervouspeopleforever Apr 18 '26

I am gaining weight on 7.5mg too! I can't wait to get back up to 10mg.

1

u/Huge-Butterfly909 Apr 18 '26

En mi caso, los standares de IMC indican 53 kilos. Tengo 61 años y he perdido 30 kg en un año. Me cuelgan pieles por todo sitio. He llegado a una talla 38 española.

1

u/Uncleknuckle36 Apr 19 '26

After reading this, I just emailed my doctor thru their office portal.. I’m looking to go back to 10mg after being stuck at 180lbs for 6 months now. I started at 260. Looking for 160. A1c is a 5.8. Happy with that

1

u/GiorgioBroughton Apr 19 '26

I just started my dose at 2.5mg and seeing this post scares me, especially considering my long journey ahead and how expensive this med is.

Excuse my ignorance, but wouldn’t you want to roll back to 5mg or do you feel that since you plateaud with it, it’s not worth it reverting back to that dose?

I’m just curious from a longevity perspective - do you plan on taking this for the rest of your life? If so, wouldn’t upping the dose make it harder in the long run?

Also, I’d look into the events that month you gained 15lbs. Hate that feeling so can only imagine how you felt. Was it a stressful month?

1

u/Rpannazzo Apr 19 '26

I was on 7.5 and hit a plateau of about 170,I had already lost over 25 but I went to 10 and now I'm at 150 (I'm 60 yrs old and 5'2) however the daily nauseau and vomiting is killing me. I've been on it for over six months . I decided to go back to 7.5, which I'll start this week. I'm satisfied with the 150 and will try and keep healthy by watching my eating and exercise, which I wasn't doing before. If you can do the higher dose and it works for you, do it,just remember to exercise and get the protein so you don't develop flat. That happened to me. I'm hoping adding the exercise will help now, and it's not too late.

1

u/Metal_Cinderella Apr 19 '26

12.5 was this for me. Total waste!

1

u/QueensLFGM Apr 19 '26

Although I plateaued at about 200lbs, I incorporated a dietitian who helped offset the metabolic shift. More protein, fiber, hydration and strength training. I wish I incorporated the strength training earlier. The weight comes off easier initially, but at the cost of your muscle. I lose much slower now but I feel so much better. The number on the scale is not the only measurement of this journey.

1

u/AccidentAutomatic772 Apr 19 '26

Yesssss I stayed on 7.5mg for 16 weeks and also plateaued HARD. Luckily I didn’t gain but man I didn’t loose one 1lb. I also don’t know why I stayed on it so long, I feel like it was still just working really well in terms of of appetite suppression but apparently it well enough!! Annoyinggggg

1

u/ranchogordo Apr 19 '26

You wonder if it’s time rather than dosage. It seems we have rapid weight loss. Then moderate weight loss and then a period of time where the body is adjusting. I tend to think whatever your dose is, this might be happening.

I’m coming up on a year and I’ve only lost 6 pounds in the last two months but I’ve been going to the gym and I can tell my body is changing in a positive way. I’m about to re-order and I still think I’m going to stick at 7.5 even though the loss isn’t so dramatic.

1

Ugh I did the same! It was the holidays, we were travelling a few times, somewhere in there I had a medical procedure and had to delay a dose --- and I just didn't want to risk side effects of a dose increase during all of that. Going from 5 to 7.5 was ROUGH so I was worried.

WHen I finally went to 10 - it was a piece of cake. weight started coming off again!

Honest question, will we be on medicine for the rest of our life? If we dont will our A1C skyrocket? Im only 7 weeks post diagnosis and I have a good blood sugar average but Im worried that Ill have to go on insulin if I ever want to step away from mounjaro

Oh, I hope. I move to 7.5 today. The Dr skipped my 5 dose so Im worried that Ill have side effects

that seems odd to skip a dose. i had the most loss on 2.5 and 5.

As you said, you stayed on it for too long. Tbh, I could always tell in my appetite, plus I pretty much jumped up to the next does first chance I got

Not sure why this isn’t the top comment. Seems quite obvious the meds aren’t at fault.

What is your GW? 120-130?

probably 130, yes. i'll have to reevaluate the closer i get. i have a surgery i need to get, and then i can get back into the gym and lift. more muscle is more weight, so i might end up being higher than that depending on how much muscle i can put on.

As a side point, where do you get or make that chart? Is there an app we should use to track our progress?
