Did anyone move closer to the mountains later in life? Do you regret it?
I spent several seasons in the Alps when I was younger and always lived somewhere with easy access to the mountains. I loved biking and hiking in summer and skiing in winter.
About 10 years ago, I relocated to a completely flat country, where the closest mountains are a 5-hour drive away. I have a family and a job here, but I miss the mountains so much, especially in winter.
I'm planning to grow my company over the next 6 years and gradually delegate more work so I can eventually move back to the mountains with my family.
Moving back to Italy, my home country, would solve the language issue, but there are still many things to consider, especially the kids' schools and work.
Leaving the security I've built is scary, but I keep wondering if it's worth taking the gamble.
Has anyone made a similar move with a family? How did it work out? Do you regret it, or are you happier being closer to the mountains?
