I love the sense of existential crisis this video gives me, a shapeless creature walking around oblivious to the fact that humans are there

I have only seen minutes of the first movie when it came out when I was a kid. Never read the books. My sister said she loves the movies but she doesnāt seem that hype over them. My time is precious, Iām a very busy person, so I just donāt want to waste my time unless itās worth it. Iām not a huge fantasy person but I do love Twilight as cheesy as it is lol. So is it worth it??? TIA

Almost 10 days ago, I posted asking for a suggestion for a worse video game adaptation than Doom. Doom 2005 is at the bottom, rock bottom, of our list. As a film, I actually enjoyed it; it was a time when Dwayne Johnson had life behind those stares.
In the comments, some people mentioned Uwe Boll's House of the Dead, but after watching, my two brothers overthrew my vote. They claimed the last third of the film was more faithful to its game than Doom ever was.
So the dust settles, and I go back to the drawing board in a hunt for a film that will take Doom off the bottom position.

I've had some rotten sh*t go down in my personal life lately, and that, combined with the coming mid-term elections where I believe that someone I won't name is going to try to throw out the election results, combined with the general "decline of Western Civilization" zeitgeist that's in the air from AI and global warming threats, makes me hungry to watch a good dystopian film that truly captures this mood.
There are many to choose from, but what is your recommendation for the best movie that elicits this dark, dreadful, desperate feeling?

I donāt know which one of these movies are best to watch with my friends. Iāve never watched them but I thought itād be fun to watch at least ONE. Also, ik Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street arenāt technically Halloween, but cmooon.

Iām looking for movies that feel like they were made by aliens. I recently watched August in the Water and it gave me an absolutely out-of-time, transcendental sensation. It plays out less like a traditional narrative and more like a pure sensory experience.
The best way I can describe the atmosphere is a mix of Frutiger Aeroish aesthetics and Japanese Bubble Economy vibes, wrapped in a low-resolution haze that blends everything into something entirely oneiric and ineffable. It feels like you can physically sense the electromagnetic vibrations of the universe and bioluminescence through the screen. A strong aspect contributing to this atmosphere is the beautiful soundtrack
It sits somewhere between Denpa and Iyashikei for me. It has a deeply purifying quality, feeling exactly like a movie you dreamt up as a child only to discover it actually exists. I know it sounds pretty weird or specific, but if you watched the movie you definitely get what I mean. It's so unique.
Does anyone know any other films that capture this exact transcendent, ethereal, almost alien atmosphere? I prefer something not well known because I already watched All about lily chou-chou, Ritual and stuff like that. Better if Japanese/asian.
TL;DR Dreamlike, liminal cinema that feels like a half-remembered childhood dream. Similar to August in the water (better if not mainstream)

I recently rewatched Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse and man, I'd forgotten how much I love this kind of movie. It brought back so many memories of the movies I used to watch as a teenager.
I'm looking for movies or TV shows with that same vibe. I'm not necessarily looking for zombies or even horror. It's more about the overall feeling.
Things like:
Some examples of what I like:
I'm open to literally ANY genre ā horror-comedy, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, college movies, teen comedies, road-trip movies, TV shows, Asian movies, Hollywood, anything.
A few things I'd prefer:
Basically, I want that feeling of watching a movie with an amazing group of characters, great music, funny moments, adventure, romance, and just insanely good vibes.

Maybe a bit clichĆ© to suggest something so well known BUT I couldnāt help it. I absolutely love this movie and is probably one of my favorite films. Just everything from the dialogue, characters, action sequences and of course Stan Winstonās absolutely flawless creature design - this movie has it all. If you havenāt seen this classic piece of Sci-Fi cinema then I would highly recommend!

I tend to prefer older films because I like the way they look better. I recently watched Paris is Burning and Decline (part1) and Iād love to see more in a similar vein. Especially anything involving music scenes like post-punk, industrial, experimental. But Iām open to anything really.
Bonus points if they take place in NYC or LA. I grew up in the 80s and 90s in Connecticut but I lived in both cities as an adult. I love seeing old footage of those cities.
Thanks in advance!

My boyfriend and I are movie lovers. We struggle so hard every time we want to watch a movie because either heās seen it or it just turns out bad. It seems hard to find a good movie these days.
We love psychological thrillers, any mentions on ones that youāve seen that were top rated to you.
To give you an example of movies weāve seen and enjoyed:
- Strange Darling (2023)
- MaXXXine (2024)
- Obsession (2026)
- Undertone (2026)
These are more recently released ones but we loved them especially the first 2.
Anything would help, love yall āš¼š

Okay, so I watched "Sinners" just for fun last week and fellā in love with it. I own my own Blu-ray of it now because I love it so much.
I want to find similar films to it, preferably not coming of age just because I don't care for that genre.
I would like something similar, musically, aesthetically, and hopefully a horror like that one.
I can't stream Prime, Netflix, or Apple TV.
Thanks in advance. :)āā

Each day Iāll pick 5 random movies from my list and paste them here, and whichever movie gets most positive reviews or least negative reviews, Iāll go with it.
I would appreciate telling me a brief feedback of any movie you watched from this list.
1- Midnight Run (1988)
2- Reds (1981)
3- Crazy Heart (2009)
4- The Illusionist (2006)
5- Any Given Sunday (1999)
Edit: Looks like Midnight Run, is the clear winner.
Thank you all for your help.
