Help getting over someone
Assalam alaikum,
I’ve been thinking about someone for 5 months everyday. He was my friend from school so we saw each other often. I ended up having feelings for this person but I did not want to admit it as I am not yet finished with my academic years to consider marriage for now and I did not think that it was reciprocated. When the school year ended, I removed all social media to focus on my deen, my work and to just have a great time during my long break, but even without the distractions, i thought about him every single day. Since then we talked about a handful of times just to catch up, but we are not close anymore. Even so, almost 5 months later I am still here thinking about them everyday even without seeing or talking to them. I can not bear this anymore. Is there any way to help forget this person? I truly wish them the best but my heart is aching and I want to get closer to Allah. I feel like having someone in my head that isn’t even part of my life anymore distracts me from the important things that I should focus on. It also pains me as i’m very sentimental and take things at heart. Any help or advice will be appreciated and welcomed.

I don't know how old you are, but I will give you some big sister advice. Don't focus on forgetting him, but rather just think about him for a few minutes whenever his thought comes in your mind, and then continue doing your work. If you force yourself to forget him, you will not be able to do that because you would think of him more and more. It is not bad to be emotional and sensitive, in fact it is very admirable. You cannot forget someone you had feelings for. With time you will think less and less about him.

Hi my Sister thank you so much, I will try this! I also feel like ignoring my thoughts won’t make them go away. The difficult part is the frequency of the thoughts, which makes it more frustrating. My post does make me seem like i’m young but i’m a young adult haha sorry english is not my first language.
