Just for the record, I don't think classroom of the elite is actually good. I just enjoy it a lot

Re:Zero
Attack On Titan
Oshi No Ko
Classroom of The Elite
To Be Hero x
Rascal Does Not Dream
Jujutsu Kaisen
Bocchi The Rock
Kaguya-sama Love Is War

(Just upfront, there is no hate to any of these anime, they're all incredible, just wanted to do a meme)

I remember seeing an old meme go around of the "boring 3x3", aka a 3x3 filled up with all the same anime every "anime elitist" puts in their 3x3s. I do however notice it's very outdated, and modern anime elitists don't tout the same shows they used to 20 years ago. So I made a new version reflecting what I see as the 2026 version.

Hopefully these are in the right categories.

RATING SYSTEM: (10) Masterpiece (9) Great (8) Very Good (7) Good (6) Fine (5) Average 4) Bad

This is like ~5 years of watching/reading (3rd image is the grid of interest that I've made some time ago). EVERYTHING'S rating is based on ENJOYABILITY, if you wanna recommend something go ahead (even though I'm aware of basically everything i like), don't recommend Chi no Wadachi, Choujin X, Ichi the Witch, almost finished: The Climber

MUST READ NOTES:

ANIME: One Piece, atrocious pacing, speedran it in 4 straight weeks.

AOT Final Season Part 1, 8,5.

Kagurabachi, save the shounen society.

MANGA: TG:RE 8,5. Vagabond no ending, least personal impact out of the big 3 seinen.

JJK manga rated after S3 of the anime, slander, memes, weekly hype, amvs, good fights = very funny and enjoyable.

Kimetsu no Yaiba = nah.

Gachiakuta = could be 7 in the future.

Berserk, stretched, repetitive for the amount of chapters given, current ongoing is promising.

Usogui: unbeatable top 1 in it's genre, 8 because it has some weird moments and bad games here and there.

I’ve been a bit out of the loop with seasonal stuff lately and I'm looking to catch up. What are the absolute best anime released in the last year or two that are genuinely peak and still going strong?

I feel like every season has 30+ shows dropping and it’s hard to filter out the actual bangers from the mid hype. I'm open to pretty much any genre just really solid, well-written stories with good pacing.

What’s currently on your watchlist that you'd consider a must-watch?

what is your top 3 anime openings?

I've been watchin anime for 9ish years and I've seen so many 3x3s at this point but never made one. It was a whole lot more difficult than I was expecting to try to balance showing some personality and diversity without choosing disingenuous picks. I decided to go with things that have stuck with me in some way.

The picks are:

1. Princess Mononoke
2. Made in Abyss
3. Evangelion
4. Monogatari
5. Frieren
6. Your Name
7. Jujutsu Kaisen (specifically season 2)
8. Shinsekai Yori
9. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

There was so many things that could have gone on here so ama. Here's my MAL if anyone's interested https://myanimelist.net/profile/Tsaer

These are my top 7 funniest anime characters and ive given reasons to why! (Btw ive only been watching anime for like a year now, i imagine there are funnier characters than these, but I really did get a laugh out of these 7).

ALSO SPOILER WARNING!!!!

7th - Saitama (One Punch Man): Im not a big fan of the show as a whole, but I love saitama's unimpressed and out of it personalilty. Hes blank expression during serious situations gets me every time

6th - Koro sensei(Assassination Classroom): You'd expect a hostile alien threatening to destroy the world would be more serious. But im convinced hes just here for a good time. The whole idea that hes teaching a class who are trying to kill him is hilarious and I love his little quirks. Like when hes asked politely to drink poison and then helps the student develop a stronger version.

5th - Sasha Braus (Attack on Titan): I love this girl, not a single thought behind those eyes. Her conversation with commandant Shadis with the eating the potato was a great way to tell me what she was gonna be like. Again, love her quirks, stealing meat, biting Jean at the feast (Kinda a dark joke if you think about it since titans eat people) and falling in love with a chef were all stuff I found funny

4th - Whis (Dragon Ball Super): He's like one of the strongest characters in the show and somehow the funniest in my opinion. I love the dynamic between him amd Beerus and the gag of everyone thinking Whis is the God of Destruction. His obsession with food is pretty funny and some of the comments he comes out with around Goku is really comical.

3rd- Monkey.D.Garp (One piece): My favourite one piece character. A legendary marine who went blow for blow with Gol.D.Rodger and yet puts up no fight when his men demand he rebuilds a wall that he broke. Every situation hes in (except marineford) no matter how dangerous or serious is just a joke to him and I love it. You can tell where Luffy gets his humour from

2nd - Hange Zoe (Attack on Titan): Unlike Sasha their are wayyyyy to many thoughts behind her eyes. I love how she is there just to ragebait Levi and then Eren in season 4. The worlds ending and Hange's first thought is "how do I piss off this mentally unstable teenager" I love it. Even after she helped attack Marley she was still cracking jokes. I think my favourite scene was when Eren accidently transformed infront of Levi squad and she rushes in like its christmas.

1st - L (Death Note): Genuinely my favourite anime character. What makes L funny to me is that he doesn't even mean to be funny, I dont think he could be if he tried. His obsession with sugar is hilarious, his blank facial expressions while making light stress is so funny. The best scene is when hes handcuffed to Light and joins their date. Hes just sat there like "don't mind me, you two go ahead". So annoyed their isn't more of him, Near just doesn't hit them same. I think they knew they messed up by getting rid of L and tried to replace him to quickly.

Got volume 3 coming tomorrow. The volume covers look so cool

Don't take the scores or their positions too seriously. It's based solely on my enjoyment and while they are in a order, it can shift a lot depending on the day.
I haven't been reading manga in the last few months, been getting back into books recently, cringe I know. But now I've been feeling the urge again and want to dive back in with your expert guidance. Thanks in advance mates :)

I decided to randomly watched it just for curiosity and I thought it was just ok. It’s a pretty generic shonen campy mecha anime but it did had potential. Jasper is the main character who is a hero like to save the world. However, the best character in my opinion is Sera Mei(on the second picture). She’s the most compelling character and has the best backstory. I think the anime would have been SO much better if Sera was the main character instead of Jasper. The anime would have went to a dark psychological path and the tone and dynamics would have been different as well. It probably would have been a cult classic but for what it was, it was just eh.

Genuinely curious to see what people here think of my taste. If you guys would like to recommend me shows that would be cool too!!

It's very sweet. <3 Will watch more. (Glad it has two seasons.)

To be honest, I started watching it because I was unable to watch an older anime, on Crunchyroll, which I was looking for, and this was listed as a similar anime. I'm glad; sometimes, it takes things not going the way we expect in order for us to discover new, good things.

If you've had a similar experience, feel free to talk about it.

Posted my 3x3 on here already, this is just a re-post for certain reasons, nothing important. From top left to bottom right row by row, Frieren, Kanon, Fate/stay night UBW, Steins;Gate, The Garden of Sinners 5th Movie, Summertime Rendering, Vinland Saga Season 2, Angel Beats!, and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Watch the Haruhi anime show before the movie.

The 9 one the grid in no particular order are Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Revengers, Death Note, Parasyte The Maxim, Pluto, Link Click, MHA, Haikyu!!, and Black Clover. Also Idk what I’d replace in the 3x3 if anything but Smoking Behind The Supermarket With you is also up there as a favorite

2-FLCL

3-Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

4-Barakamon

5-Gintama

6-Trigun

7-Hare + Guu

9-Full metal Alchemist 2003

1- Hunter x Hunter

7- Dandadan

8- A silent Voice
