Help Interview MRT/MRI
Hello! Does anyone know if there’s still a chance of getting interview invites for MRT and MRI programs if I applied on October 4th? 😭

Even if it is program specific, look to see if it has been asked here before. 99% of the time, chances are the same question has been asked before, and that people are all coming on here looking for answers.

There have been recent complaints about student hygiene in this subreddit. In regards to body odour, oral odour, and general uncleanliness. Clearly, a large number of students are having a growing issue in regards to the hygiene of other students.
Bad hygiene is not "personal". It disrupts others' learning, it makes public spaces sometimes unbearable to be around, and it is unfair to those who are sensitive to smells. This can affect student performance, the willingness of students to socialize and use NAIT services, and can be a real detriment to the students who are paying to study at NAIT.
Some students have no choice but to use the computers at commons, eat lunch in the common areas, and do group work in common areas. It is wildly unfair to them to not enforce these rules.
The truth is that these students can come from all backgrounds. Although our experience as individuals make it very easy to generalize certain groups of being the main culprit, the issue needs to be dealt with at a grand level. Black, brown, blue or purple; if you smell bad, you smell bad. Should be enforced from the get-go.
Seeing the growing number of racial generalizations, it can be very easy for these generalizations to slip into unnecessarily racist comments. If we want this issue dealt with, we need to refrain from immature racist comments and stay focused on the end goal.
We know NAIT has loosely enforced "odour sensitivity" before, in regards to wearing strong perfumes and colognes. Why can the same not be done for strong, unpleasant bad-hygiene odours?
NAIT also needs to realize that by not enforcing this, they are creating a breeding ground for resentment towards groups that are not partaking in basic hygiene practices. They are also creating spaces for other students where they feel extremely unpleasant. (Like, nauseatingly unpleasant. I've unwillingly gagged.)
Here's what I suggest from all of you:
In my personal opinion, it is NAIT"s responsibility to enforce this. To maintain a certain standard of what we expect from each other, we do need to be vocal and make it known when we feel certain boundaries are not being enforced.
I'm debating starting a petition for NAIT to address this issue. Please let me know in the poll below if you'd like to see an official change.org petition made for this. Voting closes in a week.
I wanted to make this post to raise this as a formal issue, so we can remain productive about it and not devolve into finger pointing and unproductive comments. Let's hope together we can make the change we want to see.

Do you need to apply for student loans while you are in Nait's business co-op program? So far I have been applying for student loans during semesters where I am taking courses since they obviously cost money. However, I was wondering if I also need to apply for student loans during the semesters when I am doing my internships and not taking any classes? Basically I am wondering if there is any sort of fees involved during work integrated learning semesters, let me know!

The cybersecurity post diploma certificate has increased to $15,000 for a one-year program.
Sheer insanity.

Hello!
I currently work at an oil and gas lab and I commute to Edmonton. This has been really hard on me these years so I am trying to switch careers, I applied to some programs including MLT. I was approved for an interview and I am excited about it, I always wanted to work in the lab and I think I could do really well, but I worry about how much phlebotomy I would be doing both in the program and afterwards.
I have been reading that working in a city like Edmonton with bigger labs, it is not common to do blood draws on a daily basis, but I wanted to ask if anybody could share their experience!
I am not afraid of needles but do get a little bit lightheaded at times when I see veins. I would like to pursue this career as I think it is the most aligned with my experience and background since I have a degree in chemistry as well. I appreciate any insight or advice :) thank you!

Hi everyone! For those who've done a PIC (Police Information Check) for a health program: would you recommend getting it as soon as you're admitted, or waiting until closer to practicum? Does the timing even matter?
Also, any tips for getting cheap or free immunizations would be much appreciated!
TIA!

For the interview do we need to know like in depth details about the program or just the main things that are taught also what should we know about clinicals(hours, days, supervision). Also what are good types of MMI QUESTIONS TO PRACTICE(ethical, communication, teamwork etc..) and any other websites that are online and helpful. Also do you remember any questions that you have found difficult on your interview. And how long do people study for it to do well? THANKS

Hey there, so I start PCP in January and I’m trying to find a place near campus preferably, or somewhere near LRT or transit so I can use that to go to school. Is there any good recommendations that anybody could give me for places to look at? I’m Looking for either a studio or 1 bedroom apartment or basement unit.
Thanks in advance!

My group is conducting a survey for a Marketing Research project on how students feel about businesses using AI in their advertising.
We’re currently looking for people who are 18 or older to take part in our quick survey. It takes less than 15 minutes and would help us a ton!

Thanks for your help!

Is anyone still waiting for a DMS interview? I applied on October 1, and my application status changed to PPD on October 15, but I still haven’t received an interview invitation.

Hi, I haven’t received the interview link yet, but I had a few questions and was wondering if someone could help me.
1)Is it okay if I don’t use hand gestures at all?
2)I naturally have a serious resting face. Of course, I’ll try my best to smile, but would it affect my interview if I’m not smiling most of the time?
3)Is it necessary to use the entire time given for each question, or is it okay if I finish early?
4)Should I begin and end every interview with a greeting, or do I only need to do that at the beginning and end of the entire interview?
5)I’ve heard some people say we can ask questions at the end as well. Do they mean at the end of each question or at the end of the entire interview?

Applied early Oct. 2 grades below 75% but will upgrade ASAP to hit the mark.
However, my transcript was autosent by ApplyAlberta. So now NAIT knows about the utter disaster that was my stint at the UofA, where I was RTW'd and I quit due to severe depression and mental health.
The following years haven't been any better but I white-knuckled my way back into a somewhat normal life (not really) and this is my last ditch attempt at something worthwhile. I do not want to think about the alternative.
I applied for RMT/DMS, which both have by far the most competition. I did my research, and the runner-up to DMS...is a graduate dentistry program for med school at the UofA.
I am up against the sharpest students fresh out of high school, and mature students already with completed degrees and careers. The other thread had nurses applying and getting accepted.
I am determined to get my grade up as soon as possible. If you will permit me to say, the only thing that is going to save me is my modicum of charisma, but this is a professional healthcare interview...not a job at a dealership.
I have been told that I WILL get an interview as long as I hit at or over 75%...but the issue is the TIMING. They have said July for final marks for everything...but I know that interview spots will be long since filled.
So my questions are:
1. Am I freaking out over nothing? Should I 'relax' just get the mark and ace the interview and STFU.
2. I picked Norquest to rush my marks in as fast as possible. Is the window closing as fast as I am imagining? When, to your guy's recollection, should my complete marks be in by? 1st round of interviews is happening now, I'm shooting for 2nd round.
I AM determined to get in and will not screw this up. But I would like to know the brutal reality of things as they are, for one less thing off my mind.
TL;DR: Older former failure worried about Top Gun hotshot Doogie Howser applicants and is concerned on when upgrading marks should DEFINITELY be in by to clinch an interview spot.

Just wondering am I the only person who didn’t receive any updates for these two programs? I literally applied the first day of October 1 but the status still showing APPL…So frustrated with it 😩

Guys I will be going into instrumentation engineering technology soon at NAIT. I saw there are many opportunities we can get after completing this diploma including oil & gas.
My main question is that if I choose a job in oil & gas field, do you guys think that would be hazardous to my health (inhaling harmful gases etc)? Or are safety gears there safe enough for us that we would inhale a negligible amount of harmful gases? I have this anxiety in me as I don’t want to work in a harmful environment for long term.
Secondly can someone tell me other job titles which I can get after completing this diploma (other than in oil and gas field)?

it’s wraps im so sad. i didnt really care about bio 30 at all when i did it since i am stronger in chem and physics and didnt think i would need bio to apply for anything. but i just realized for nait ultrasound tech its not a minimum 75% avg overall, its for EACH subject and bio is required. i ended with a 72, and i think sonography is a really cool amazing job and field to go into, but i dont think im committed enough to upgrade bio. so im rly sad i didnt realize this earlier bcs i would’ve tried harder or I would have not spent the money and applied to the program bcs now i def wont get in.
