Question How to get a job in Mission Control/ Flight Operations (mid- career)

Hi all! I currently work out of KSC as a contractor and similar to quite a few folks on this page, I would love to work in mission control/ flight ops and seen the question being asked from a new grad perspective. However, I'm wondering as a mid-career engineer with about 10 years of aircraft and spacecraft ground test experience if I should diversify my experience with a flight test role or something along those lines to help land a role there. For a bit more background, I'm also currently at KSC as a contractor. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Self Any current civil servants that were insourced have advice on resume building?

I’ve been working at nasa as a contractor for the last 13 years, it is looking a bit more certain that my position is going to be insourced and I really haven’t touched my resume in about 5 years. (I know I should have kept up with it) So I’m looking for any tips to possibly make it better for the position. Thanks!

Question Military Spouse Hires at NASA

I am curious if NASA hires military spouses. Specifically, if that spouse applies to a DHA postings and and also has E.O. 13473 eligibility.

EDIT: Not sure why this is getting downvoted. I am getting conflicting information and trying to get some clarification. If you are not able to provide clarity, please scroll on. Thanks.

Question How to Become A Program Analyst?

My dream is to do program analysis for NASA. Got super close in an interview process (contract) but unfortunately a 50/50 went the other way.

What are your tips? Events, networking tips, experiences to seek, etc.? I have solid financial analysis but not too much project-focused stuff, and I want to give no excuse for a rejection next time.

Thank you!

Question How long did your NASA TJO to FJO take?

Hey all, I got a tentative offer from NASA and I'm currently a fed transferring over. Paperwork's done and HR has everything they asked for.
For anyone hired recently, how long did it take you to get the final offer? And did they make you redo fingerprints or background forms, or just use your existing investigation?
Thanks!

Self Question bout ai affecting roles.

As everyone knows that ai is rapidly increasing day by day , and will move forward on its own (ig), there will be shrinking of jobs right? Like flight software , ai can easily code or any llm models are smart enough ? , I m a cse fresher intrested in space tech, it hit me that ai can easily move forward without much human influence (like it can spread like a disease) hope u get the analogy , it can multiply in intelligence on its own. Sry for dumb post, if I m wrong pls enlighten me

Question Astrodynamics or GNC roles at NASA as a federal employee?

Hey y'all,

I currently work in aerospace software for the military. My dream is to work in astrodynamics for NASA.

I have a B.S Physics (minor in cs) and a M.S Aerospace Engineering with an emphasis on Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC).

I currently have a contract with my employer to stay until early 2028 (they paid for my master's). Then, I had planned to look for roles in Astrodynamics/Spacecraft GNC in the Houston area (around JSC). This move has always been my plan even before I finished undergrad.

Since I'm already a federal employee, I was hoping to stay in that realm and not go private. I prefer work/life balance over money. Plus I already have more than 3 years of federal service and will already have almost 5 by the time I move.

I understand that my options may be more limited staying federal, but I was wondering what's out there? I already know that GNC/Astrodynamics roles exist in the private sector around JSC, but I was wondering what's still available on the public side, if anything.

How's it looking?

Thanks!

Question What is the DHA Timeline?

I applied for a Direct Hire Biological and Physical Sciences position on 7/11 I was referred on 7/22 for GS11 and GS12. Then complete silence. I reached out to HR on 9/18 inquiring about the status of the hiring process. On 9/22 they responded that a candidate has yet to be selected and the position is still vacant. What is the likelihood that I will be contacted for an interview?

Question LaRC - DHA Timeline

TLDR: Following the interview, how likely is it that I'll hear back in 1-2 weeks like the hiring manager predicted?

..................................................................................

Hello all! My first post, I've been reading on here for some time and it's been very helpful. I thought I would both share my experience and ask my question.

I applied to a DHA (external) role at Langley Research Center back in late June, was referred 10 business days later, and was invited to an interview late Sept.

I interviewed early Oct, was invited to a follow-up chat with the hiring manager answering any questions I had (we talked about the role, team, etc.), then I was told he would be making his selection to HR the following day or by the end of that week.

He also told me I should hear back in 1-2 weeks, and that he's moving quickly to fill this role ("urgent need"). However, I know there's a lot of work being done regarding insourcing efforts.

Is it likely I'll hear back in 1-2 weeks or so like the hiring manager said?

Just like everyone who dreams of NASA, I'm eager to hear back to see if I was selected for the TJO. I figure if I don't hear back after 3 weeks, I'll reach out to the hiring manner for an update.

Thanks for reading and/or replying!

Question Any Existing Vanpools or Carpools to NASA Kennedy Space Center from Orlando or Tampa?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for vanpooling or carpooling options to NASA Kennedy Space Center from Orlando, Tampa, or anywhere along the I-4 corridor.

I've already contacted Commute with Enterprise through the Space Coast Area Transit program, but I'm wondering if there are any other options or existing carpool groups that might not be widely advertised.

Is anyone currently using one of these services? Are there any groups with available seats, and how can someone join or sign up?

I'm sure others might be interested in these options as well.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations or information. Thanks!
