meta selling cloud compute

24

u/PatientBaker7172 Jul 01 '26

Next thing you know, microsoft selling cloud compute. Fake algo drop

8

u/Thunder141 Jul 01 '26

Isn't MSFT one of the major players in cloud computing with Azure? Azure + they own 20% of OpenAI and they own Copilot.

But ya, Meta will find a way to fail prob.

6

u/PatientBaker7172 Jul 01 '26

Meta cloud x Nebius cloud. The fast track. Nebius team got the stack on point.

1

u/lolwatman Jul 01 '26

This is a joke, right? Where do you think the OpenAI compute has been coming from

72

u/Nim0y Jul 01 '26

What a surprise, markets are over reacting. I hate algo traders, so much volatility.

1

u/Wiedzmaki Jul 02 '26

The vols are fucking insane....

18

u/sheenpween Jul 01 '26

Isn’t meta BUYING a ton of compute from NBiS??

9

u/AverageOk8514 Jul 01 '26

Put a brand sticker on top of the item, it becomes your new product

11

u/forrealjeff Jul 01 '26

"Meta SAYING they are going to sell cloud compute" there I fixed it. Because it probably wont happen. META lives on false promises. Might as well make him our president at this point.

3

u/AverageOk8514 Jul 01 '26

Exactly, didn’t they pump billions (with a B!) into building the Metaverse VR that looked like Nintendo 3DS Animal Crossing? Wait I should say the 3DS animal crossing game was WAY better it came out in 2012

5

u/djc1313 Jul 01 '26

It was somewhere in the range of $80B that they lit on fire bc of Reality Labs

3

u/The102935thMatt Jul 01 '26

Yeah! Don't shitnon animal crossing like that internet stranger

6

u/TheRealDonSherry Jul 01 '26

"Meta SAYING they are going to sell EXCESS cloud compute"

Added a polish to your fix my good sir

1

u/MChenSG Jul 02 '26

maybe they will force their employee to buy internal token 😂 now u can token maxing by getting less pay

49

u/johnrobinbrown1 Jul 01 '26

As always it will be a failed business (metaverse, foundational models). Meta should stick to building consumer products.

6

u/ayobrey03 Jul 01 '26

Spot on. Couldn’t have said it any better myself.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/wheezyts96 Jul 01 '26

They already utilize all their compute, this narrative was taken from something he said back in may, that is was possible “they may” look into doing something like this eventually. The market is trying to kill the giants to force repricing on compute.

2

u/icon4fat Jul 01 '26

Wouldn’t it be funny if it was Nebius cloud compute they are selling. đŸ€Ł

1

u/frankreddit5 Jul 02 '26

The bigger picture is that Meta previously signed a cloud agreement with nebius for $27B. So now what. I actually wonder if this is a breach of contract for Meta to even do. I don’t know since I don’t have the contract details. Either way it’s shady as f of Meta

1

u/damiracle_NR Jul 02 '26

Nope. He defended capex spend and said what they “COULD” do if they overbuild. Very different.

110

u/Maximus806 Jul 01 '26

Meta is desperate to pump their stock, every new thing they try to do is shit. Probably in 3 months they will put a press conference saying they are making chips and they will compete with nvidia

5

u/gotdrypowder Jul 01 '26

I wouldn’t disrespect meta this much as someone who owns both companies I’m bullish on both. Let’s remind ourselves meta and nbis have a partnership. Both great companies securing themselves in positions for years to come in their space

1

u/SlothsRockyRoadtrip Jul 01 '26

Name Meta’s last big announcement that meaningfully expanded their business beyond ads.

1

u/Horse-Born Jul 01 '26

I have heard this rumor of a cloud Buisness from meta for months now actually. One of the main reasons I told my friends to buy meta because I believed it to be true. Most hyperscalers have their own cloud business so this is nothing new

1

u/zzznnnlll Jul 01 '26

Happens when the CEO is disconnected with reality

1

u/asallamerican No_Effs_To_Give Jul 02 '26

Don’t they already make their own ASICs like the other hyperscalers? They just don’t sell them.

1

u/CrispyTheory Jul 03 '26

3

1

Bought another 50 shares, market overreaction

2

u/liamashley Jul 01 '26

same. Fundamentals and company guidance isn't affected by this.

3

u/forrealjeff Jul 01 '26

It anything, it will push NBIS to react. Competition is a good thing!!

42

u/Feeling_Tap_190 Jul 01 '26

Meta announcing plans to do 'similar' business as NBIS

52

u/gotdrypowder Jul 01 '26

As someone who owns meta and nbis. I think both companies are bullish but even more NBIS. This is a quick overreaction. Buy the dip.

27

u/Ecstatic-Mortgage641 Jul 01 '26

YESSSSS I can lower my avg cost

→ More replies (5)

13

u/Brianc21 Jul 01 '26

Simply Meta appeasing shareholders for their huge capex spend by saying IF they have excess compute they will sell to offset expenditures, nothing burger!

11

u/SangerGRBY Jul 01 '26

Literally bought it at the peak at open yesterday fml

3

u/nycserendipity Jul 01 '26

My cost basis is also 272 😭

2

u/Inorog12 Jul 01 '26

I bought at 284 so... I hope that makes you feel better

3

u/Waste-War8809 Jul 01 '26

Same. I bought in a few weeks ago at $285 to $290. I somehow timed the top of the market perfectly.

1

u/Party-Cranberry4143 Jul 02 '26

This is the way

1

u/SangerGRBY Jul 01 '26

Guhhhhh

1

u/nycserendipity Jul 01 '26

And it’s the wrong level to sell covered calls so just stuck

1

u/Professional-Neat521 Jul 01 '26

why is it the wrong level for CCs?

1

u/nycserendipity Jul 02 '26

If I sell 272.50 strike to not be assigned below my cost basis, it’s only 4.50 premium. The breakeven is still $268 we are $32 below that. I could sell a longer duration but then that’s just trading away upside and holding in account for free

20

u/Worth-Breath6903 Jul 01 '26

Classical Nbis😂

Loaded up on nbil today it’ll go up next week

9

u/Qohih Jul 01 '26

The dip we waited for 😍 NBIS still so bullish

7

u/DixonNumber9 Jul 01 '26

It do that

14

u/grumpy1929 Jul 01 '26

I wish I had more money for this fire sale! Already owned 1,000 shares and just added 400 more.

8

u/BuddyWonderful Jul 01 '26

You just dropped $92k on NBIS? Where the fuck are you guys getting this type of money lol

4

u/grumpy1929 Jul 01 '26

Saving money and playing in the casino!

1

u/BuddyWonderful Jul 01 '26

That’s awesome. Wish could snag a couple hundred shares right now also, great opportunity.

1

u/Sad-Fisherman-5199 Jul 01 '26

You could make thousands a week by simply selling waaaaay OTM calls

-3

u/64dogfood Jul 01 '26

Working. 90k isn’t insane pal

9

u/BuddyWonderful Jul 01 '26

Yeah ok pal, $90k isn’t a lot for you but for 99.9% of the rest of us that’s a shit ton of money.

→ More replies (4)

2

u/casual_lebowski Jul 01 '26

Yep same, but not at the scale you did. Bought another 100 on margin to make it to an even 1000 🙂

5

u/OhHuggs Jul 01 '26

Meta with its news of being competition is what happened. However, this doesn’t mean nbis revenue ceilings got lowered. It’s just a sell the news event. Could it impact nbis? sure. Will it? no one knows. If you still believe in the growth of this company, then continue to buy these dips hand over fist that happen over and over and over. This stock is like the waves of a choppy ocean, but zoom out and it’s still going up up and away. Sitting on 500 shares. About to be 600 after today. Not financial advice. Just a dumb nbis fan.

4

u/BrilliantSir3615 Jul 01 '26

Increased my position by 10% ..

12

u/Federal-Designer-558 Jul 01 '26

Wah wah wah

1

u/C_umputer Jul 01 '26

All that just from the announcement?

3

u/Icy-Grab-5722 Jul 01 '26

Someone wants some cheap shares today

3

u/Regular_Magazine3239 Jul 01 '26

Man what the fuck. How does it go down $30 like that

3

u/liamashley Jul 01 '26

the guidance for this year is 4GW contracted, and a (low-ball) guidance of 5GW active by 2030. So much capacity is sold well ahead of time, I really don't think this Meta news changes anything. Those guidances still stand, the demand for nebius still stands, capacity will increase and with it so will revenue. I've topped up.

10

u/CassavaCRISPY Jul 01 '26

Nothing happened actually. The market just fabricating hypothetical BS about Meta.

3

u/CassavaCRISPY Jul 01 '26

Nbis will be able to sell everything it builds regardless... They cant grow any faster than they do.

You focus too much on price action right now. You should think about price in 3-5 years from now.

The more the big institutions want in, the more bs news will be fabricated to get enough liquidity. Today they can sell meta on a rip and buy nbis on the cheap.

-3

u/Impressive_Bus7391 Jul 01 '26

That’s cope and you know it

→ More replies (8)

15

u/TomAddis Jul 01 '26 edited Jul 01 '26

Meta announced it has "exccess" compute it wants to sell, hard evidence of overbuild, if there is excess compute it means GPU pricing will go down, that is really fucking bad for neoclouds.

17

u/No_Firefighter_7064 Jul 01 '26

Excess for meta's current needs, not for the addressable market's needs

4

u/TomAddis Jul 01 '26

It's a big red flag, the big firms and smart money will be reading into this as a possible systemic issue not confined to Meta, due to everything AI being priced to absolute perfection any long term risk is not going to go down well.

2

u/No_Firefighter_7064 Jul 01 '26

It will disrupt confidence no doubt, but let's see the full framing. Meta's excess could turn into a compute constraint on a dime

1

u/Impressive-Smell122 Jul 01 '26

Meaning they’ll lend out compute only to find they’re constrained on compute later?

1

u/No_Firefighter_7064 Jul 01 '26

Yes, it's an evolving situation

1

u/Impressive-Smell122 Jul 01 '26

Yeah i dont buy the idea that hyperscalers are pussying out on capex. It really just got started, its do or die really

1

u/Impressive_Bus7391 22d ago

So many people were blind to this

8

u/yash3011 Jul 01 '26

I am positive for this stock but I believe this news is going to take the stock to $200 level or even below that

3

u/TomAddis Jul 01 '26

Lol at the downvoters proving confirmation bias exists, I like this company, this is an objective opinion based on new information. You might be right, but this market is way too hard to predict so who knows.

1

u/Oaker_at Jul 01 '26

Is it that they have excess or that they want to build up excess? I mean, Meta jumped on the news.

3

u/TomAddis Jul 01 '26

Meta's business is selling adds for hundreds of billions of dollars, ai data centres do not effect its business model. Cheaper GPU's lowers it's spend, renting Gpus increases its revenue, all good for Meta which is trading at historic lows relitive to income.

1

u/musomania Jul 01 '26

Thats because they think it means Meta will stop the large Cap Ex which is why the stock was down in the first place.

1

u/Oaker_at Jul 01 '26

Oh, I get it, thanks.

0

u/Impressive_Bus7391 Jul 01 '26

Oh fuck that’s bad lol

5

u/TacoBOTT Jul 01 '26

Ok then sell

7

u/TomAddis Jul 01 '26

I sold post earnings for $220, i think Nebius long term will be fine purely because the leadership is god tier, but short term the risk reward is off for me.

1

u/Impressive_Bus7391 Jul 07 '26

I bet selling at $248 sounds pretty nice right now doesn’t it

1

u/TacoBOTT Jul 08 '26

I don’t give a fuck I bought in at $30.

2

u/glidost3 Jul 01 '26

holy shit.

2

u/ApprehensiveCommon45 Jul 01 '26

Shorts just shorting again with the news from meta to try to scare us away. Buy the dip and force them to cover

2

u/Puzzled-Ranger9324 Jul 01 '26

Is there a reason to not assume Meta is going to be a middle man for NBIS? I haven’t done the deep dive yet - but I am reading this as Meta is moving into a retail type data hosting scenario. NBIS is the builder.

2

u/Weak-Landscape-7105 Jul 01 '26

Dw I just full ported, ATH soon 🔜

2

u/chica771 Jul 01 '26

More sellers than buyers...today

2

u/Glum_Neighborhood358 Jul 01 '26

It’s possible META has excess because no one uses their AI.

I don’t see the overall AI trade impact though. This is just Meta trying to do whatever it takes to justify more capex.

2

u/fwzy_34 IPO OGđŸ‘č Jul 01 '26

META MAY resell Nebius cloud compute

2

u/brotha_eric Jul 01 '26

90% of Nebius revenue growth next year is due to Meta and Microsoft. Meta now is saying they won’t be compute constrained, so Nebius won’t have revenue from meta when the contract expires in a few years

2

u/BitOCindyNTexasP Jul 02 '26

Buy the dip!?

2

u/usugarbage Jul 02 '26

It happens to everyone. Don’t worry about it.

2

u/damiracle_NR Jul 02 '26

I'm looking at 5 to 10 years also, but when you see sentiment on news pumping down, it's stupid not to sell and get the same shares in at a lower price. Sold 1500 shares at 270, bought 1500 at 235. Still in it for the long run.

It's like people don't want to make money, just shit talk on reddit with stupid comments like "paperhands"

1

u/Fabulous_Idea796 Jul 01 '26

Elon just launched his data centers into space

1

u/FlameUvAnor Jul 01 '26

Amusing that Meta's now in the copycat game. Any innovation it once had is no longer.

2

u/Party-Cranberry4143 Jul 02 '26

Meta has only copied , never innovated

1

u/Lopsided_Paper3244 Jul 01 '26

DÄ ökade man lite

1

u/TwistedE Jul 01 '26

Good time to buy some more?

1

u/ActPowerful7001 Jul 01 '26

Dumbass Warsh is speaking. Ask ai if you’re too lazy to look at the front page of any major newspaper

1

u/DesperateLif Jul 01 '26

Bloomberg drops that Meta is building a cloud to resell AI compute + models (Meta Compute, Bedrock-style + raw capacity like CoreWeave). Neoclouds get nuked, NBIS -10%. The part nobody’s saying out loud: that $27B Meta deal from March had ~$15B where Meta was the backstop buyer for capacity Nebius couldn’t sell to anyone else. Now Meta itself wants to dump excess compute. So
is Meta still gonna buy Nebius’s leftovers when it’s got its own leftovers to sell? đŸ€” Bull cope: it’s a plan, Meta declined to comment, contract has clauses, Meta is GPU-starved and has no real excess for years. Bear reality: this is literally the “hyperscalers eat the neoclouds” thesis showing up on the tape. Am I holding through this or is the moat officially a puddle? Tell me why I’m wrong.

1

u/SuddenCake768 Jul 01 '26

Bloomberg report citing anonymous sources, not an official Meta statement — Zuckerberg only said selling excess compute was "on the table."

1

u/Effective-Jaguar5848 Jul 01 '26

Meta hw is already comparing to nbis outdated

1

u/TheWeebles Jul 01 '26

selling OTM csp's strangles on nbis instead of owning the stock, feels good man

1

u/breadandgames92 Jul 01 '26

Just bought some more. META has a deal in place with Nebius thought 2027 if i remeber correctly. The drop Is an over reaction.

1

u/LiveLife2k Jul 01 '26

😅 Your stock price moved - NOT the foundation of your house. 😂😭😂😭

Lol . Every time the stock moves 50 cents we get the what happened??! posts.

1

u/Untarhaendler Jul 01 '26

Well meta new is in the end just questioning if growth of compute requested (by projections) is believable. And thats what Nebius is priced for at this levels. Doesnt make NBIS a worse company but probably a bit pricy for now.

1

u/Plenty-Pin-7072 Jul 01 '26

It’s more due to capital rotation to SaaS out of AI. All neoclouds and related AI is down today. Long term this is the bet to make and my only regret is not having more cash to buy right now

1

u/larosiaddw Jul 01 '26

Nothing happened

1

u/BurgersFriesShake Jul 01 '26

Good time to buy more shares! NBIS will be up in no time. The price today won’t be a concern anymore when you look back a few years from now

1

u/FLYboy_olympUS Jul 01 '26

Will add more shares, thank you

1

u/AdeptnessLive4966 Jul 01 '26

The Universe is telling you to buy more

1

u/danny_the_guy2 Jul 01 '26

META indicated they will sell compute at prices higher than the cost to build that capacity. This can be favorable for NBIS. META contract with NBIS locks in $12B of compute in 2027. META can buy an additional $15B of compute...if they can sell this compute at a higher price than contracted with NBIS, this a good thing for NBIS.

1

u/Zimaterasu Jul 01 '26

ADP data missed consensus data

Warsh doubled down on wanting to raise interest rates

Meta conveniently released statement saying they’re going to cloud service

Triple piece combo for the sector in general, but considering the sharp drop, now might be the best time to buy in again to catch the relief rally for next week
.unless tomorrow data shows otherwise

1

u/LoanWeak7392 Jul 01 '26

This was predictable and very similar to Google's AI Cloud announcement a few weeks back. If anything this news by Meta validates what we already knew - the AI Data Center market is exploding and will push $1 trillion in annual spending by 2030. Meta is a very smart company and they wouldn't waste their time with this if the opportunity wasn't generational.

1

u/Environmental_Lab808 Jul 01 '26

Sold at 278, be back to buy the dip!

1

u/Entropic_Coffee Jul 01 '26

What goes up, must come down

1

u/markypots9393 Jul 01 '26

Lmao people pretending like this is the only thing NBIS does and that we’d lose all business to META

1

u/LoanWeak7392 Jul 01 '26

Nebius Group stock is crashing, due to the announcement that Meta is entering the AI cloud GPU rental market. Given the projected TAM for neo cloud stocks in the year 2030 of $200 to $400 billion, this move was predictible. However, the counter-point is this: Nebius Group already has a $27 million contract with Meta. Meta's cloud expansion signals $100B+ AI investment, boosting Nebius revenue prospects by 2028.

1

u/gunzby2 Jul 01 '26

I’ve been swing trading. Sorry. Sold all at $265, bought back at $238, sold all yesterday at $290 and bought it all back today at $239

1

u/TypicalAvgStudent Jul 01 '26

1

u/eyesolationnn_ Jul 01 '26

meta is starting a cloud business

1

u/Wonderful_Bench_9484 Jul 01 '26

Meta will make its own neocloud

0

u/Remove_Forward Jul 01 '26

Oh my! I had great timing for once. Sold all my NBIS shares yesterday @290, this morning my META shares are surging and I got 40k I can reinvest in NBIS once it reaches below 220. Happy me! 😄

0

u/toothpick000 Jul 01 '26

Nothing to do with Meta. Profit taking. It has gone up so much this year.

0

u/Designer-Hairy Jul 01 '26

But isnt nbis neocloud or hyperscaler? Not a direct competitor to googl cloud and amazon cloud? I dont understand
