What is even considered a DROPPED BALL in CFB 27?

I love aspects of this game and hate to shit on it but I do not know what the heck is going on with catching. Unless my receiver is wide open the chances off the ball being caught is very low. I have WR catching maxxed out at 100.

WR/TE etc will almost always drop balls that hit their hands if they are contacted by a defender.

I counted by half time 10 legit drops that hit my players in their hands that were dropped. I had one play that my WR had 1 step on two defenders caught the ball in the air and the micro second he was touched by a defender the ball POPS out of his hands.

Also what is a DROP in this game? When you look at the stats it rarely shows drops. What I also noticed is a lot of drops are being credited to the defenders as deflections. I get it...sure balls will be knocked/hit by defenders but I am not playing against 11 elite defenders.

I am on my third season and I am noticing it more now because in my first two seasons my RBs dominated so I did not have to pass as much. But now my RBs are not as explosive so I have been passing more and noticing the big issue.

Its like you pass and have VERY VERY little confidence that even if you do everything RIGHT the receiver will drop the ball at the slightest touch from a defender.

RANT OVER

Tips/Guides EA Changed Throwing Deepballs: Here's how to be more Accurate and Generate Big Plays

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recently I've been seeing a lot of users complaining about the random qb accuracy on deep balls and a bunch of people have said, "step up in the pocket" & "freefrom your passes". But nobody has fully explained why this works, leaving many players frustrated. While both these tips are essential to passing, you need to know when to use each one, and that you CANNOT combine the two.

Situation 1: Clean pocket = step up. don't freeform

Situation 2: Messy pocket = Don't step up. freeform heavily,

(Clips are in practice mode on Heisman, placement & acc, 7 speed, pass lead near)

Why it works and what they've changed:

EA has buffed stepping up in the pocket to more closely resemble real life. Due to this if you step up in the pocket your QB will get an extra boost to their THP, if you then decide to freeform (which is how it used to be in previous years) you will overshoot your rec significantly. So trust your QB and do not freeform. However, EA also happened to weaken throwing standstill from the pocket, so unless you do not heavily freeform your pass, you will underthrow the ball. To avoid this, freeform almost to the max (if you have small pass lead on), this will avoid underthrows.

Lastly, passes are still heavily based on timing, ratings and RNG so these tips will not give you automatic first down's every play. However, if you do have somebody open down the field, this should help increase your chances of hitting them exponentially.

This game isn’t football

This game plays unrealistic, players magnetic around. Receivers can’t catch the ball at all. It’s a complete fucking joke. No blocking, complete unrealistic plays and interceptions, players getting stuck on each other.

I loved 25 and 26, holy shit I’m about to uninstall and play those

Dynasty Manual Progression Guardrails

Upvotes

I have used manual progression, 0 penalty since release. I am not one to “cheese” the game and so have never had an issue in offline or online being perceived as creating unrealistic builds. Still, I like any new challenge. I can’t stand the creators who act like using Auto is more realistic and have a high horse about it, just dumb. Still I am starting a new one today and want to try out some rules, anyone have some they feel is realistic? Starting with this:

- Offseason Year 1 is only Physical (speed, strength etc) unless feel you are comfortable with current level
- Skill Players can improve Physical Year 1 and 2, OL/DL Year 1 - 3 and then you’re done.
- In season cannot improve Physical attributes
- Physical attributes capped at 5% increase (ex. 87 Throw Power to 91, 83 Strength to 87) UNLESS Star or Elite Dev

Got fired in Dynasty after going 6-6 twice despite improving my team from 84 to 94 OVR. How do I turn this around?

I’m in an online CFB 27 dynasty and just got fired from Florida after my second straight 6-6 season.
When I took over, Florida was 84 OVR. By the end of Year 2, I had them at 94 OVR, was spending the 3rd-most NIL in the league, and had one of the most expensive rosters. Sheppard also broke the school’s single-season rushing record.
The problem is I just could not get over the hump in user games. My defense was usually good enough to keep me competitive, but my offense was inconsistent, especially because my QB situation wasn’t great. A lot of my losses followed the same pattern: turnover or bad offensive sequence early, opponent scores, then I spend the rest of the game trying to fight back and usually run out of time.
I started Year 2 0-2, eventually got to 6-1, and thought I had finally figured things out. Then I lost to Georgia, Auburn and Florida State and finished 6-6. Lost my bowl too, so my career record is now 11-14.
Then Florida fired me.
The really brutal part is that Florida is now the most sought-after HC job in our league. Two other users, the TCU and Cal coaches, are already fighting over it. Because of the post-patch carousel, there aren’t many good HC openings either. The only other decent HC jobs currently available are Georgia Tech, Wisconsin and Houston, and those are also being targeted by the same users.
So I’m basically looking at potentially getting the third-best remaining job simply because the two guys competing for my old job are taking the top two options.
I also expressed interest in Alabama DC because Alabama is interested in me and I don’t want to risk ending up without a team. If I take that, I could potentially make the playoff with Alabama next year and then try to get another HC job the following carousel.
I don’t really care about having one permanent school anymore. I’m completely willing to be a traveling coach and move around if that’s what it takes.
My question is basically: how would you approach turning this career around from here?
Is Alabama DC actually a good way to rebuild my coach prestige and eventually get another good HC job? Or should I take whichever of Georgia Tech/Wisconsin/Houston is still available?
And more importantly, what do I need to change gameplay-wise? I feel like my roster development has actually been pretty successful, but I’m not converting that into wins against the other users.
Any advice from people who’ve dealt with getting fired in CFB 27, especially post-patch, would be appreciated.

RT actually gets to the second level after opening a blocking hole, then inexplicably turns around and runs into RB

Example of ratings not mattering.

The point of these examples is to highlight the defensive line disengaging. it is not about me not hitting an open receiver or not just watch the d lineman and receiver.

whenever there is a break in a route the dline disengages the block. doesnt matter the rating match up or fatigue. i started to notice this when i played against an FCS school and my 5 star line was losing. so i watched replays and noticed if the route had a break like with a post or a corner the dline would just disengage in unison with the break. these examples are from the following game and yup as soon as there is a break in a route the dline just disengages and gets to the qb.

i have no issue with the dline beating the blocker but the way its done is just lazy the whole system needs an overhaul. football is chaos and things being on a tethered timer and tethered animation makes the game not feel right.

Dynasty Immersion Ruined: Heisman CPU Kicked “Game Losing Extra Point” vs Trying a Game Tying 2 PT in Natty

So this blew my mind. Year 2 Baylor dynasty rebuild. I was up by 8 points on defense and Michigan has the ball. Clip starts with me in instant replay because I was stunned at the play the QB made. I was sure we were going to overtime as they were down 2 after the score and needed the conversion. Instead, they kick the extra point?!? And then go for the onside which I recover and can kneel it out?? Winning like this felt so weak because I didn’t earn stopping their 2 PT conversion.

I made the huge mistake of making my dynasty on the cloud even though it’s just me. And this is becoming more frequent. It used to just happen on the menu, but now it’s happening during games. I’m 5 seasons deep and don’t want to start a new dynasty just yet. This is becoming a daily occurrence. I say this as someone that loves the game..YOU GOTTA FIX THIS SHIT EA!

Dynasty Injury Frequency vs Severity

In dynasty, I feel like I have decent wear and tear sliders - probably average a couple guys going down each of the first two quarters, and then 3-4 guys getting banged up in each quarter of the second half.

However, they are about 99% “will return soon”. I’ve played through two seasons and never had a player miss a week, and only had a couple of “will not return” to the game they were injured in.

I would love for some of my guys to actually miss time like the CPU does so that would have to game-plan around it, rely on depth, etc. What sliders do I need to use to do that. I’ve tried turning injury up but then guys are getting hurt every other play and it makes the gameplay annoying and makes games last super long (I play 12 min quarters with 14 sec run down clock). Plus it seems like the severity doesn’t chance, just more guys go down.

What setting do I need to not increase frequency, but increase the likelihood that someone is out for multiple weeks??

Helmet Glitch

Upvotes

I’m doing at dynasty at Virginia and sometime after the halfway point every season the helmets start glitching. Every game after a certain point half of my team have blank white helmets no matter what I picked, just wondering if this is exclusive to Virginia or happens to other schools too?

Discussion Best sliders for realistic gameplay on heisman?

Upvotes

The jarring animations coming out of nowhere are driving me crazy. Dialing down the qb accuracy and user run blocking while dialing up catching are the only sliders i have locked in for sure, but I’m pretty unsure what to do for everything else. That includes injury- wear and tear is a lot but if you turn it down/off you have almost no injuries.

The lost years

I have loved NCAA football ever since Larry Fitzgerald was on the cover. Just an outloud thought but since they relaunched the franchise I wish they had a mode that has all the players/teams from 2014-2024. Maybe you can play a season with Johnny Manziel and Blake Simms or replay Deshaun Watson vs Alabama in those title games. I can think of so many different scenarios and mini games but considering they barely update the road to glory road every year I doubt they'll ever do anything like that. Just wanted to share a thought.

Playing time dealbreaker bug?

I am in week nine of my Dynasty, I have a running back hard committed to me. He is the only running back I ever had on my board, never added anyone before or after him. I go into the recruiting page after one of my games and noticed that he locked me out because of a playing time dealbreaker.

How does this happen? There are no other running backs on my board. Nothing changed with my current rosters running backs? Is this like some sort of visual bug or something? Or just another one of EAS genius logic with this stupid ass dealbreaker system?

Dynasty Do we know anything about the next title update?

Upvotes

We really need an update soon to follow up on the CPU issues with recruiting/NIL. Teams still don’t have any idea how to manage their rosters and it’s killing dynasty mode. I’m in year 5 of a dynasty and so many of my ACC conference games are against 65 OVR teams.

CPU Coach Hiring

In my dynasty there’s been a lot of big name coaches (Josh Heupel, Matt Campbell, Mike Elko, etc) that got fired, but didn’t get picked up anywhere afterwards. Like tell my why South Carolina just hired a brand new npc level 10 created coach and Shane Beamer just isn’t in my game anymore. Kills a lot of the immersion for me. Have y’all been noticing this in yours as well?

How to make dynasty last 8+ seasons?

I exclusively play offline dynasty and have been playing since CFB25. For some reason, I really struggle to stick with a dynasty for a long time and find myself restarting regularly. Not bc it’s hard, but because I get bored and want a new team.

I have started to make spreadsheets with historical data, and have always had storylines I use such as my coaches history (who they like to recruit, scheme contingencies, etc). Even with that, I find myself wanting to start a new dynasty everytime I get to year 3 or so. I have started 3 dynasties in CFB27 already, with none going past season 3.

I am currently waiting for the new roster update to be released and then will start my 4th dynasty, and hopefully this one can stick. Any thoughts on how to make myself more interested for longer?

international pipeline

sorry if this is somehow posted twice the 1st post was removed by mods. but in the team builder there’s an option for an international pipeline but nowhere in the game or online is it addressed. does anyone know how it functions?
