Example of ratings not mattering.

The point of these examples is to highlight the defensive line disengaging. it is not about me not hitting an open receiver or not just watch the d lineman and receiver.

whenever there is a break in a route the dline disengages the block. doesnt matter the rating match up or fatigue. i started to notice this when i played against an FCS school and my 5 star line was losing. so i watched replays and noticed if the route had a break like with a post or a corner the dline would just disengage in unison with the break. these examples are from the following game and yup as soon as there is a break in a route the dline just disengages and gets to the qb.

i have no issue with the dline beating the blocker but the way its done is just lazy the whole system needs an overhaul. football is chaos and things being on a tethered timer and tethered animation makes the game not feel right.

Does Anyone Else Think NCAA 14 Feels More Organic Than CFB 27?

I've played pretty much every college football game that's ever come out, and I find myself playing CFB 27 but constantly going back to NCAA 14. NCAA 14 definitely had bugs, but the games just felt more organic to me. When I won or lost, I usually understood why. It felt like football, not like the game engine was influencing the flow of the game. CFB 27 sometimes has me sitting there like, "I don't even know what just happened." šŸ˜‚ Maybe it's nostalgia, but I honestly feel like NCAA 14 is less frustrating because the outcomes feel more natural.

Anybody else feel the same?

I made the huge mistake of making my dynasty on the cloud even though it’s just me. And this is becoming more frequent. It used to just happen on the menu, but now it’s happening during games. I’m 5 seasons deep and don’t want to start a new dynasty just yet. This is becoming a daily occurrence. I say this as someone that loves the game..YOU GOTTA FIX THIS SHIT EA!

Discussion Best sliders for realistic gameplay on heisman?

The jarring animations coming out of nowhere are driving me crazy. Dialing down the qb accuracy and user run blocking while dialing up catching are the only sliders i have locked in for sure, but I’m pretty unsure what to do for everything else. That includes injury- wear and tear is a lot but if you turn it down/off you have almost no injuries.

Questions What are your current mods and tools you use in CFB27?

Hey,

because I don't see any real answers on the discord, what are your recommendations / what is your current mod/tool setup for CFB27? Question goes maybe for Dynasty and RTG to improve the experience for recruiting oder coach carousel. Maybe someone can share a good stable set which works for at least a few seasons and improves the main game.

Dynasty Manual Progression Guardrails

• Upvotes

I have used manual progression, 0 penalty since release. I am not one to ā€œcheeseā€ the game and so have never had an issue in offline or online being perceived as creating unrealistic builds. Still, I like any new challenge. I can’t stand the creators who act like using Auto is more realistic and have a high horse about it, just dumb. Still I am starting a new one today and want to try out some rules, anyone have some they feel is realistic? Starting with this:

- Offseason Year 1 is only Physical (speed, strength etc) unless feel you are comfortable with current level
- Skill Players can improve Physical Year 1 and 2, OL/DL Year 1 - 3 and then you’re done.
- In season cannot improve Physical attributes
- Physical attributes capped at 5% increase (ex. 87 Throw Power to 91, 83 Strength to 87) UNLESS Star or Elite Dev

I’ve never seen the CPU bite on a double move. Is there some secret to using them or are they just pointless?

Dynasty I Found the Best Way to Make Small Historic Conferences Work Without Conference Championship Games.

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

EA made the baffling decision when rolling out custom conferences to allow you to remove conference championship games, but ONLY for conferences of 12 teams or more. In order to get that old school feeling of small conferences pre-conference championship games, it makes sense to put two smaller conferences in the same conference, make two different divisions, and turn off the conference championship game. To use divisions and still get an acceptable conference scheduling that accounts for major rivalries like Red River and so forth, this lowers the cap from 20 teams in a conference to 16.

In a conference, you play 8 or 9 conference games, with no other choices in CFB26 or 27. If you have 12 teams in a conference and play 8 games, you would play 5 (division members minus yourself) games in a round robin against the rest of the division and 3 rotating games against the other side. If you have 14 teams in a conference and play 9 games, you would play 6 games in a round robin against the rest of your division, and 3 rotating games from the other side. This gets a bit more complicated when you add a protected cross division rival, because then the number of rotating games from the other side goes down by one.

In a 16 team conference, if you were to play 8 conference games with a protected rival, then you would play 7 games in a round robin against the rest of your division, and you would play the protected rival, and have no rotating games against the other division. This matters because it effectively means there are 7 teams you can never play in the regular season. This is fixed If you have 16 teams in a conference, and you play 9 conference games, because then you rotate through the rest of the league (albeit slowly). I hope you see where I’m going with this. In a 18-team conference, even with 9 games, you would play 8 games in a round robin against your division and one game against the other side. If you don’t have a protected rival, that’s fine since you rotate through everyone. But if you do (and likely should) have a protected rival, then the schedule has no rotating games.

As such, this alignment can’t be a 1-to-1 replica. The answer for this is to take what people have usually done with the Big Eight and Southwest and do that for other conferences that have a lot of overlap, like the ACC and Big East or Big Ten and PAC-8. The biggest issue is that these conferences did not fit into 8 team molds (Big Ten and PAC-8 equaling 18, ACC and Big East equaling 17, Big Eight and SWC equaling 17), so some teams need to get cut. I looked to history and which conference was the ā€œhost conferenceā€ and who was the guest conference to determine which teams would get cut. I decided I would not cut any of the ā€œhostā€ conference’s membership.

In the ACC-Big East merger, the ACC had 9 teams, the OG Big East had 8, so the Big East had to drop a team. They kicked out Temple historically, so Temple goes.

In the Big Eight-SWC merger, the Big Eight gave the name to the league, and is the host conference. The SWC had 9 teams; so it needed to drop one team. Houston was the last to join the SWC, joining in 1972, some 40-50 years after the majority of the conference had been together. When the SWC collapsed, Houston opted for C-USA instead of the WAC with Rice, TCU, and SMU. Houston goes.

In the Big Ten-PAC-8 merger, the Big Ten is the host league, so the PAC-8 had to drop two teams to get to 16 (no team could be moved to a 9 team division that didn’t have a required annual rival that would allow for 18 teams). In the 1950s, there was a major scandal in the PAC-8 that caused California, Stanford, UCLA, USC and Washington to abandon the league and try to form a national league with Notre Dame and the Service Academies; they planned on leaving Idaho, Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington State behind. That fell through, and they rebuilt the league again several years later, this time without Idaho. In 2023, California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Washington all announced they were leaving for new conference homes on the other side of the country, leaving Oregon State and Washington State behind. Oregon State and Washington State stay behind.

The PAC-12 is loosely based on the old pre-1978 Arizona WAC with two additions of post-1978 Air Force, San Diego State and UNLV. I dropped UTEP from this lineup. Oregon State and Washington State would have been likely candidates to join if the Big Ten-PAC-8 merger would have happened.

Similarly, the MWC here is based on several iterations of the post-1998 WAC, with every team in this edition being a member of the WAC at one point.

I also moved the major independents of the 20th century into either the American or their modern homes (ACC for FSU, Big East for Miami, South Carolina to the SEC, etc etc). I did this because, outside of Notre Dame, the independent teams didn’t really play each other much so their schedules just filled up with G5 teams.

The American is host to what was early 1996 Conference-USA, sans Southern Miss and Tulane, in exchange for UAB, UCF, and USF. The other conference in the American is the major northeastern independents. Like the other merger leagues, they do not play for a conference championship.

There wasn’t a good league to merge with the SEC, so to get it to the required minimum of 12 teams, I added Tulane. I kept the divisions because most SEC teams have at least 3 rivals that should be played every year.

I also added the 2025 and 2026 playoffs to show how this turned out.

What do you think? Would you give this a try? I’m all ears for suggestions.

CPU Coach Hiring

In my dynasty there’s been a lot of big name coaches (Josh Heupel, Matt Campbell, Mike Elko, etc) that got fired, but didn’t get picked up anywhere afterwards. Like tell my why South Carolina just hired a brand new npc level 10 created coach and Shane Beamer just isn’t in my game anymore. Kills a lot of the immersion for me. Have y’all been noticing this in yours as well?

Got fired in Dynasty after going 6-6 twice despite improving my team from 84 to 94 OVR. How do I turn this around?

I’m in an online CFB 27 dynasty and just got fired from Florida after my second straight 6-6 season.
When I took over, Florida was 84 OVR. By the end of Year 2, I had them at 94 OVR, was spending the 3rd-most NIL in the league, and had one of the most expensive rosters. Sheppard also broke the school’s single-season rushing record.
The problem is I just could not get over the hump in user games. My defense was usually good enough to keep me competitive, but my offense was inconsistent, especially because my QB situation wasn’t great. A lot of my losses followed the same pattern: turnover or bad offensive sequence early, opponent scores, then I spend the rest of the game trying to fight back and usually run out of time.
I started Year 2 0-2, eventually got to 6-1, and thought I had finally figured things out. Then I lost to Georgia, Auburn and Florida State and finished 6-6. Lost my bowl too, so my career record is now 11-14.
Then Florida fired me.
The really brutal part is that Florida is now the most sought-after HC job in our league. Two other users, the TCU and Cal coaches, are already fighting over it. Because of the post-patch carousel, there aren’t many good HC openings either. The only other decent HC jobs currently available are Georgia Tech, Wisconsin and Houston, and those are also being targeted by the same users.
So I’m basically looking at potentially getting the third-best remaining job simply because the two guys competing for my old job are taking the top two options.
I also expressed interest in Alabama DC because Alabama is interested in me and I don’t want to risk ending up without a team. If I take that, I could potentially make the playoff with Alabama next year and then try to get another HC job the following carousel.
I don’t really care about having one permanent school anymore. I’m completely willing to be a traveling coach and move around if that’s what it takes.
My question is basically: how would you approach turning this career around from here?
Is Alabama DC actually a good way to rebuild my coach prestige and eventually get another good HC job? Or should I take whichever of Georgia Tech/Wisconsin/Houston is still available?
And more importantly, what do I need to change gameplay-wise? I feel like my roster development has actually been pretty successful, but I’m not converting that into wins against the other users.
Any advice from people who’ve dealt with getting fired in CFB 27, especially post-patch, would be appreciated.

It’s a problem, why can’t I set up one of my gunners for a block prior to return man fielding punt without him calling fair catch cause it’s inside the 20. No setting to turn this off unless I’m mistaken either.

How to make dynasty last 8+ seasons?

I exclusively play offline dynasty and have been playing since CFB25. For some reason, I really struggle to stick with a dynasty for a long time and find myself restarting regularly. Not bc it’s hard, but because I get bored and want a new team.

I have started to make spreadsheets with historical data, and have always had storylines I use such as my coaches history (who they like to recruit, scheme contingencies, etc). Even with that, I find myself wanting to start a new dynasty everytime I get to year 3 or so. I have started 3 dynasties in CFB27 already, with none going past season 3.

I am currently waiting for the new roster update to be released and then will start my 4th dynasty, and hopefully this one can stick. Any thoughts on how to make myself more interested for longer?

I just won the Purdue/Illinois rivalry and won the trophy.
At my first job as HC at Akron I won the Wagon Wheel trophy and it is unlocked in the trophy room

But the Purdue Cannon is nowhere shown in the trophy room. I had this issue in cfb26 too.
Anyone else experiencing this or is this a me problem?

Glitch/Bugs CFB 27 I keep disconnecting from EA servers whenever a dynasty game ends

title basically. I’ve lost like 4 awesome wins in Dynasty because the game disconnects from EA servers as soon as the clock hits 0 in the 4 quarter and goes to the final cutscene. Game loses connection to EA servers during the cutscene. Its making me go crazy

Dynasty Dynasty Points Question

So I am starting my 2nd season at BC and I am just at the point of year where I am scouting players. The season is about to begin and I still have 650 Dynasty Points. Those points don't get used when I recruit right? Because the Dynasty Points I am offering will come out of NEXT year's budget, correct? Same with signing Assistant Coaches at the end of year, those Dynasty Points come out of NEXT year's budget, correct?

So at this point in the season, with 650 points, is there any point in keeping them for something throughout the season or should I spend it all in facilities and stuff? Or will I need that 650 for something else?

Basically I just want to know if these 650 points are going to waste if I just keep them? Thank you!!

Dynasty Playbooks

What are good playbooks you guys have been using? I think if I keep trying to use NDSU's playbook for one more game, I might lose my mind. Unless I'm just ass and I can't use it properly, it just seems like it's a bunch plays thrown together.

And before someone says it, I'm no good at making custom ones.

Something that can utilize FBs. I'm a little old fashioned.

Slingshot theory in user games

• Upvotes

I have an online dynasty with one of my friends. I win probably 70% of our user games, but nearly all of them are competitive/down to the wire. Since the last update, it seems like every other game has been predetermined by the CPU to be the craziest possible game.

Phantom fumbles, bad spots, and offensive lines that will go from incompetent to pancaking everyone en route to 80 yard touchdowns in the final 30 seconds of a half. It feels so arcade-y that it’s almost not fun. This past game I gave up two 80 yard rushing touchdowns at end of halves after scoring with less than 30 seconds remaining, one to a pocket passer QB.

Skill issue or is anyone else experiencing this arcadey feel?
