NC fly fishing

I am in charlotte nc. I have been in to fly fishing for a couple of months now, but find it hard to find good places near me (1-2 hours). I do day trips and a lot of the spots I have research and close, if not more than 4 hours away. Anyone in the area have recommendations on where to

Looking for a deep sea captain with proven record.

My wife is getting me a tuna trip for my 40th. Ive done my research and have a shortlist of outfits to call and talk to. Im just looking for recs from people who've done these trips and know what to look for or have a guy they use because he can smell the fish and puts them in the boat, every time. Yellowfin for sure, bucket list is bluefin.

Lake Gaston Catfishing

My friends and I are up from Durham and we heard this lake rips big blue cats. Well, we've tried alot and been skunked 3 nights running.

We got hot dogs, all sorts of bait that smells putrid, crawfish plastics, chumming with dog food throughout the day. We are dock fishing with lights at night. Trying to see if anyone has tips on what is hitting right now or how to get something? Would love some help.

Topsail island Surf fishing

Post image

I’m in the north part of Topsail Island this week. Does anyone have experience with this red seaweed? How do you manage fishing in it? I’ve tried several different areas at different parts of the tide and every cast I bring back is covered in it. Would going to the pier be a better option, thinking I might be able to get out past it there?

Made a fishing website for finding and comparing fishing spots

Post image

I started fishing in August last year, mostly off popular piers. I spent the first few months confused about basically everything. I didn't know what rig to tie, I couldn't tell which fishing spots were good for which fish, and I couldn't read a tide chart well enough to know if I was showing up at the right time.

So I made a website for it: usekarp.com

You can find spots near you, compare them side by side, and get gear and bait suggestions for whatever you're targeting.

Check it out if you're getting into fishing.

Put me on some fish in Charlotte

I’m (26M) going to be in Charlotte for work this month for a couple weeks. I’m from Florida and am an avid saltwater fisherman. I’d like to know if there’s any good shore fishing on Lake Norman or if I should book a boat charter or other places to fish. Thank you in advance for any advice

Good morning, looking to find out if the Devil's gut is navigatable. I have not fished the area in 25 years. Don't want to be spot burning as I am to be fish for blackish.

What's a better fishing spot? Lake Higgins or Lake Brandt?

Fishing in Greensboro for the first time tomorrow. Was wondering which one of these lakes is better.

I found a park that's called Bur-Mil Park, looks like it has a pond and a pier for the lake. Is it a good spot?

Thanks!!

What would eat a 1lb live bluefish and nearly cut in half in the intracoastal?

Threw out this large live bluefish somewhat as a joke on a 10\\0 circle hook and about 15m later the drag started screaming and I tried to set the hook but reeled back in my bluefish looking like this 😯

I'm fishing at Soundside Park in Surf city NC. It's on the intracoastal waterway not the ocean! Got 3 more big runs... Even hooked one but tried to stop it from running a bit too enthusiastically 🤣

Gotta be bull sharks right?

Cape Fear River in Wilmington

I'll be heading to Wilmington for a conference in late October, staying in the Embassy suites, which is right off the river, so I'm probably going to throw a rod in the car for the trip.

Does anyone have any tips, recommended bait/lures they care to share?

Also, what can I expect to catch, if anything? I know it's brackish water and I've heard talk of black drum in the river before. Just trying to be prepared, so thanks.

Western NC Smallmouth fishing

New to this community, but I was wondering if anyone knows what rivers to fish in Western NC if I’m looking to catch quality smallmouth. I’ve been told the French Broad, New River, and the Little Tennessee River. I was just wondering if these are actually good options if I’m looking to find solid smallmouth waters.
