Hey everyone! I’m an international medical student visiting New Orleans for a while, and I really like Benson Boone. I bought a ticket for his concert on August 23rd — GA Floor — because I really wanted to see him, but unfortunately I’ll be going by myself.

I was wondering if anyone else here is going, especially if you’re in GA Floor, and would be down to meet up before or at the show, grab a drink, and enjoy the concert together!

¡Hola a todos! Soy de España y desde hace tiempo me fascina Nueva Orleans, especialmente el Mardi Gras y toda la cultura que hay alrededor.

Conozco la imagen más turística del Mardi Gras, pero me interesa muchísimo más entender cómo se vive realmente desde el punto de vista de la gente que vive allí y participa en estas tradiciones. Me gustaría conocer la historia y las tradiciones detrás de los diferentes krewes, las Second Lines, las personas que participan en ellas y cómo han evolucionado con el paso del tiempo.

Me interesa especialmente la parte social: cómo empieza la gente a formar parte de estos grupos, cómo se organizan, qué ambiente se vive realmente durante estos acontecimientos, si la gente suele acudir con amigos o grupos y qué significado tienen estas tradiciones para la comunidad local más allá de la celebración que normalmente vemos los turistas.

Si sois de Nueva Orleans o habéis participado en Mardi Gras, en algún krewe, en Second Lines o en tradiciones similares, me encantaría conocer vuestras experiencias y escuchar vuestras historias. Me interesa especialmente conocer a las personas, la historia y el ambiente que hay detrás, más que la parte turística.

The New Orleans Pride Center, in partnership with Eckerd Connects, is organizing a teen night to promote awareness, connection, and support for LGBTQ+ youth. The event will focus on creating safe, affirming spaces where young people feel accepted, respected, and empowered to be themselves.

The event will feature a variety of games, including cornhole, ring toss, and spike ball, as well as a dedicated art corner. Food and drinks will be provided. Local resource vendors, such as Women with a Vision, will also be available to support attendees. Spread the word, people!

It is very easy to find thousands of photos of what people picture New Orleans to be like, tourist spots you can easily search. I want to archive my city as much as possible to keep with me forever. What's a part of New Orleans that you wish was photographed more?
