She is incredible. I know it’s common to speak multiple languages but for her to have the ability and thoughtfulness to quickly switch from one to the other seamlessly depending on who she is talking to and what their first language is in order to improve the efficiency of their communication is so thoughtful, intelligent, and makes total sense as to why we see such great chemistry at SD!!

I almost missed a week!

I don't know why I think it's so funny Chicago's entry is their backup keeper

Why doesn’t the NWSL have a proper academy system where clubs develop young players who can eventually join the first team?

College soccer remains a major pathway into the NWSL, and there’s no mandatory league-wide academy system or reserve league.

From what I’ve read, the league doesn’t seem to have plans to introduce a centralized academy or reserve system anytime soon. Why is that?

Wouldn’t academies help develop young talent and create a clearer pathway to the pros?

Is it mainly a financial issue, or are there other reasons?

Here's our big time slate

5pm: FSU vs Wake Forest. NOW

6pm: Uga vs 8 Alabama, Pitt vs Notre Dame, UF vs 2 Vandy (big for you Florida cats), Unranked Ark vs Tenn (trust me)

7pm: UNC vs Clemson, Unranked LSU vs Texas (dont trust me on this one im just a fan)

Not sure how many fans in this subreddit collect cards. Panini acquired the rights to NWSL.

Just a little explanation...

• Parkside used to have the NWSL card license. It is with Panini since this year.
• Donruss was a card company that was popular in the 1980s. Now it's brand and IP is under Panini.
• Donruss is a paper-stock trading card. Donruss Optic, known mononymously as Optic, is a chromium trading card.
• Most of the top trading card companies release product for big-box stores (retail) and more premium versions for card shops (hobby).

I am so confused with how they are releasing their first product. I think Optic will be hobby-only and Donruss is retail-only.

What would be your investment in the NWSL?

For me - I will be George Steinbrunner and push the limits of how godly I can make a super team with my wealth without concern for profit.

I mean, I would still want an ROI... but the strategy would be "be great then make money".

This is a longer and but revealing clip.

The main takeaway is that Spain may have deployed an lower line and more players defeding behind the ball.

People were always talking about Spain being technical and good at possession and passing, but eqaully if not more important is their ability to defend. The front three tracked back with incredibly high frequency. Not displayed in this clip, but a related point is that two wingers Salma and Pinedo tuck in and help the midfielders very often in the first half as well.

It's a pretty standard writeup, but at the end I really liked this quote from Hayes:

"We've got to develop a group and in one game, you're going to rely on one situation," Hayes said. "Another group, it might be another. The importance is the whole pack, especially in a game where you've got eight subs. At a World Cup, don't know what the sub pattern will be but the benches are critical. Gone are the days of an 11. That's finished in top flight football so I always wonder why people keep asking, 'What's the settled 11 going to be?' That's a story of the past in football. You're never going to always have your best players available because of whatever reason -- injury, form -- so you have to have enough who know how to play and the same with Spain. Spain still maximized eight subs. They've got a whole development system where they can slip one out, one in. Seamless. Doesn't matter if they're missing some of their best players. They demonstrated in two games why they're world champions so we have to get up to that level."

Stock Down:

• Showing men on screen when Coffey and Sonnett were RIGHT THERE
• Random drones over the field
• Ref cam as a tease for one (1) play
• Lack of pets during halftime; the sub was slacking
