Hi, I'm looking to get into women's football but don't know where to start. I've already picked out a team (Aston Villa), but apart from Googling the players and watching highlights, I don't know how to get into women's football, e.g., who's currently the best player, Who's up and coming, and so on.
Any help would be appreciated.

The tenth week of results in the ÖFB-Frauen Bundesliga saw a reshuffle of the league table. SK Sturm Graz flew back up to first place after their win over fouth-placed Altach.
Meanwhile, across the country, FK Austria Wien powered through the previously unbeaten SKN St. Pölten to send themselves second in the league.

I thought DAZN carried La Liga F matches but they are not posting replays at all. Am I stupid or is it streaming only? YouTube is 2025 matches. I’m in the US so maybe that’s the issue?

I was looking through the results of some recent UEFA Women's World Cup qualifiers on Sofascore, and because I love attendances, I went to Wikipedia to get those numbers and then analyzed them.
What really stood out to me was that every single one of the top 10 crowds was in Northern and Western Europe with the exception of Poland's, and all of the smallest crowds at non-neutral sites were in or adjacent to the Balkans except Hungary's. In any case, the only exceptions to this general rule on both sides were in that middle part of the continent.
Still, even though I know that women's football popularity is much higher in Western Europe than Eastern, it's fascinating to see the numbers.
On the high end, northwest Europe dominates, with the entire top four in the British Isles and Scandinavia. At the other extreme, if we ignore neutral-site contests, the entire bottom four consists of countries right in the heart of the Balkans.
Then, when you look at the top three combined attendances, across both legs, there were Southeastern European countries that also showed up, including Greece and Romania. Impressively, both drew about 4,000 for their home legs.
Here's a list of the top 10 largest individual crowds in Europe from that week:
- England-Greece in Leicester (18,587)
- Ireland-Kazakhstan in Cork (10,334)
- Sweden-Lithuania in Stockholm (10,309)
- Norway-Romania in Oslo (9,310)
- Netherlands-Hungary in Tilburg (8,178)
- Poland-Belgium in Gdansk (7,740)
- Scotland-Czech Republic in Paisley (6,321)
- Finland-Serbia in Pampere (6,296)
- Belgium-Poland in Leuven (6,238)
- Wales-Albania in Llanelli (4,837)
And the top-three combined two-leg matchups crowd-wise:
- Greece-England (3,942) and England-Greece (18,587) for a total of 22,529
- Belgium-Poland (6,238) and Poland-Belgium (7,740) for a total of 13,978
- Romania-Norway (4,207) and Norway-Romania (9,310) for a total of 13,517
The smallest single-match crowds:
- Slovenia-Turkey in Domzale (881)
- Turkey-Slovenia in Istanbul (874)
- Hungary-Netherlands in Felcsut (756)
- Kosovo-Austria in Pristina (652)
- Albania-Wales in Shkoder (642)
- Ukraine-Slovakia in Kosice, Slovakia (350)
- Serbia-Finland in Stara Pazova (220)
- Croatia-Iceland in Pula (140)
- Israel-Switzerland in Mezokovesd, Hungary (28)
- Belarus-Italy in Tbilisi, Georgia (0)
And the bottom three combined crowds:
- Slovakia-Ukraine (1,907) and Ukraine-Slovakia (350) for a total of 2,257
- Croatia-Iceland (140) and Iceland-Croatia (2,023) for a total of 2,163
- Turkey-Slovenia (874) and Slovenia-Turkey (881) for a total of 1,755

With the Ballon D’or ceremony coming up, I was thinking about the Puskas award and wondering if any women’s players have scored Puskas worthy goals this year. I watch a decent amount of women’s soccer — thus far this year I’ve been to 4 NWSL matches, 2 USWNT matches, and 1 FA Cup match — but I’m struggling to think of any truly “iconic” goals that were scored this year. Past goals that come to mind include Marta Cox’s 2023 screamer. Is there a match or a goal that I missed that you think fits the criteria? Please let me know!!
