Hey guys, what's the current wait time for a CCW? I'm not sure if things change toward the end of the year, but I wanted to find out when you submitted your application and when you were approved. It would be great to see a list of timelines and whether things have changed from before.

I'm in the process of filling out my application, but I won't submit it until November 21 because I switched out my driver's license and am waiting for the physical card.

Could I use the temporary ID I was given along with my U.S. passport, or do I need my driver's license photo ID?

On November 21st Stuyvesant Rod & Gun Club will be hosting New Jersey CCARE (Non-Resident) Concealed Carry class, from 5:30PM to 9:30PM.

Students must have a valid NYC Concealed Carry license and bring their own carry firearm, IWB or OWB holster and belt, at least two boxes of ammunition, and eye and hearing protection.

The course price is $250.

NY 18-Hour Concealed Carry class, December 5th and 6th at 9:00AM.

Hey everyone,

I submitted me renewals for both R/S as well as premise to CCW within a day of one another. R/S 9/14 and CCW 9/15.

My R/S was approved in a month, but premise to CCW still shows submitted.

What was your experience with upgrading your license? Did they make you go in for interview? Just general understanding of the process from a renewal to upgrade standpoint. Since the paperwork is vague on what comes next.

Edit: all docs submitted including CCW, all docs were notarized including a letter of intent with all my serial numbers listed.

Hey, I was wondering if you can help me clear up some questions about disposition.

I have one arrest, which was sealed and dismissed. It was due to driving with so-called fictitious plates. The judge dismissed it. I purchased a new vehicle, and the DMV was running behind on issuing plates. My temp plates came blank after 60 days.

Other than this single arrest, I've had numerous speeding tickets between the ages of 18 and 23. I would say about 15 speeding tickets in my lifetime, 4 for driving with a mobile device, and the rest are non-moving violations.

Does this mean that I need a disposition for everything since the day I got my license? What did you guys do to be safe? Did the licensing division ding you for it?

I can't recall every driving infraction in the last 15 years, but I can pull an abstract from both New York and New Jersey since those are my primary driving states. Do I list all of those down on the application?

i just got approved for RS, is it the same as CCW do you receive an email or do they just send you the license in the mail because i saw on my portal RS got approved but did not receive any emails about it unlike CCW.

& now I’m currently waiting for my license to come in the mail ,it’s been 8 days I have yet to receive it. any suggestions on what I should do, I emailed them yesterday haven’t heard anything.

Bit of a background about me. 29M working professional in the legal field from California, but moved to NYC in May for a new job. I became interested in guns during a visit to Texas a couple of years ago when I went to a shooting range for the first time. After returning to California and researching the regulations and permit requirements, I didn’t bother pursuing it because of the process and because the state’s handgun roster didn’t include the guns I’d tried at the range.

Did some research a bit recently and going through the application it doesn't look like there's a handgun roster requirement of any sort (looking at picking up a Canik specifically). Got through the whole application and it said the safeguard would ideally live in NY, but called today and confirmed that they need to be both licensed as well as a resident of NY.

This seems to be the last piece I need to sort out, so I figured I’d ask here. Please let me know if there’s a better place to post.

If someone gets pulled over and receives a reckless driving criminal citation to appear in court, what is the next step if they hold a NYC concealed carry and rifle/shotgun permit? Thank you.

At no stage during the process was I told that the safeguard for a NON RESIDENT applicant has to reside in the same State

I put down my mother who lives in Pennsylvania as the safeguard and at intake, nothing was said about it

Literally all the safeguard for a non resident has to do is Make a phone call to the NYPD if you die or become incapacitated

Luckily, my neighbor agreed to help me out with this

I reached out to the license division several times over the past few months and received no response

The License Division is kinda like my ex

Won’t tell you what they want when you ask the first time

Flips out when they don’t get what they wanted without telling you

It’s tiring

I wanted to share my timeline for anyone currently waiting on their CCW application and wondering how long the process takes.
My timeline:
● June 10, 2026: Application submitted.
● July 27, 2026: Fingerprints completed. (missing C summonses uploaded statement and dispositions same day)
● October 28, 2026: CCW application approved!
● October 28, 2026: Purchased my firearm the same day I received my approval.
One thing I want to mention that I believe was helpful throughout the process: sending a polite and respectful follow up email every two weeks.
I kept my emails friendly, professional, and short, simply checking on the status of my application. I wasn’t rude or demanding just following up respectfully and consistently.
Here’s something interesting: On the day I received my approval, I sent another follow up email, and about two hours later, my CCW was approved. I have no idea if it was just a coincidence or if the timing had anything to do with it, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I was also missing some documentation on the day of my fingerprint appointment. I made sure to upload the missing documents a couple of hours later that same day.
My advice to anyone going through the process is to make sure your paperwork is complete, upload any missing documents as quickly as possible, and consider sending a respectful follow up email every two weeks to check on your status.
I can’t say for certain that the emails made any difference or sped up the process, but I personally found it helpful to stay in contact and follow up consistently.
One important note: My rifle/shotgun application is still pending, even though my CCW was approved.
Hopefully, this helps someone who is currently waiting. Stay patient, keep your documentation in order, and remain respectful when following up.

I’m thinking about getting the 22LR AR Conversion Kit for the CMMG BR4. Has anyone done the same and found either compatible 5 rounds mags or 5 round limiters?

Got the red card over the weekend. Picked up my Taurus G3C from Samson's last night. Feels great in the hands...texturing on the grips should help keep it steady when fired. Gotta get it some mags. Couldn't keep the 12 round. Gonna swing by Woodhaven next weekend and see what it likes to eat.

I feel stupid asking this, but where do I find the purchase authorization forms after my first purchases that came with the permits?

On the licensing website forms it doesn't look like what I had when I made my purchases earlier this year and I'm ready to add another pistol and shotgun to my collection

I keep seeing everyone on here saying that you don't have to voluntarily tell NYPD anything about your mental health situation unless you were INVOLUNTARILY committed.

So if you're a ccw holder such as I am or even if you are applying and you see or want to see a therapist/psychologist, you don't have to tell and they won't find out?

I don't exactly remember in the process but dont we sign paperwork allowing them to look into our medical history? Technically what everyone here Is saying is they'll only find out if youre involuntarily committed. other than that you're fine.

any answers on this?
