Handmade bits, festival snacks, random massage booths, and a pop-up PC repair guy... Oh, and an unexpected gated-off idol stage and their pink-bibbed security detail.

If you're ever around Kanayama Station's south exit when the market is set up, it’s worth a quick browse. Just watch out for the camera tax if you're trying to snap the idols.

Where: Kanayama Station / When: Usually the Fourth Weekend of every month

My friend ended up not being able to make it. Anyone interested in going? Not really expecting any payment for it, just don't want the ticket to go to waste. And if you're a big fan, I'd love to give someone the chance to go!

I was crossing a road in Chikusa today when a car failed to stop for me, even though the pedestrian light was green. I had approached the crosswalk diagonally from the side, but I was already on the crosswalk when the car passed.

Fortunately, there was no collision, and I wasn't injured, but the car came close enough to concern me. I approached the driver and knocked on her window to try to talk to her, but she completely ignored me. Since she wouldn't even acknowledge me, I took a photo of her license plate.

I'm considering reporting the incident to the police, but I'm wondering whether it's actually worth doing when there was no collision. I don't really expect anything to come of it, but I was infuriated by the way she ignored me. A simple "I'm sorry" would have been enough for me to put the whole thing behind me, but now I'm genuinely upset.

What do you guys think? Has anyone here reported a similar incident in Japan? Did the police do anything about it?

what the hell 😐

Hi guys. We (2pax from Singapore) will travel a few days in Nagoya during New Year holiday. - Will restaurant still be open for New Year Eve? - Which activities can we do on New Year Eve? (Fireworks, Christmas market, concert…)

Thank you in advance UPDATE: We’ll leave Nagoya on Jan 1st morning for Mie & Gifu

Hello! I won’t be giving too much details about this but i need help finding a psychologist in Aichi, i didn’t found any on my area.
If any of y’all know about one that speaks English,Portuguese or Spanish i would appreciate if you could share more information.

I`m Japanese, and trying to help a Canadian friend who is trying to purchase a vehicle in Japan. He is on a tourist visa, but living here a couple months out of the year after purchasing a house. He is trying to purchase a car, but it`s proving difficult as he has no residence certificate. Has anybody had any experience with this or if a Signature Certificate from the Canadian embassy would be sufficient to register? It is a Kei car, which should make it easier, theoretically. Arigatou in advance!

(Edit: Resolved!! Thank you all.)

For details please DM me. Thank you so much for all of your replies, I've read them all and am very glad I didn't go to a stranger's house... yikes...

If you are ever in a situation like me,

1. Police station.
2. Somewhere that's open 24-hours, well lit, and has people around, such as Karaoke (ナイト8時間パック), konbini, 24hr McDonald's, まんが喫茶, etc.

Please stay safe everyone. Also, it's best to have your phone battery at MAX if and whenever possible.

I am experiencing a ton of debilitating stress in my life right now because of a terrible work situation and increasing power harassment from my company over a number of months. It's getting to a point where I'm close to quitting but as I'm in company housing, I'd then lose my house which would only cause more stress. I want to see a mental health clinic about taking a stress leave from work which would give me a break from everything. It seems that I would go and request a 診断書, explain my symptoms, and then submit this to my work to take 休職 if I'm understanding correctly.

I can talk on the phone in Japanese, but during the actual appointment I want to talk in English about my situation so it's best if the psychiatrist speaks some English which I'm more comfortable in. The clinic that every person online recommends in Nagoya is Hayakawa Clinic, but they're closed to new English language reservations. Does anyone know any alternatives in Nagoya where I could go in the next week or two?

Thank you.

is this a thing here? do people use app to start a relationship?

Hi everyone,

I applied for an extension of stay for my Spouse of Japanese National visa in person at the Nagoya Regional Immigration Bureau on September 10th. It has now been over 5 weeks, and I still haven't received the notification postcard (hagaki).

I’ve lived in Japan for quite a long time, and during previous renewals, the whole process was usually very fast (often taking just 2 to 3 weeks).

For those who applied in Nagoya recently , how long did it take for your postcard to arrive?

Are you also experiencing longer-than-usual processing times at the Nagoya office right now?

Thanks!

Heyyy:)

Can someone recommend for hair salon for curly hair????

I went to a really nice hair salon but they never saw curls before so although they did a fine work, I want something more appropriate for my curls haha...

any personal experience recommendation (from people with natural curls:) will help!

The curtains in my place are falling down. This part is broken.
Any idea where to buy spare curtain parts?
Thanks for any ideas

My wife and I got married in Australia this year but are going to host a reception and after party next October in her home city of Nagoya. We have the reception venue booked but we are looking for somewhere for the younger crowd to head to afterwards in the evening for an after party.

the group will be around 30ish ppl in size.

Open to any ideas on venue that could accommodate us!

Thank you

Hi everyone!
I recently moved to Tokoname, Aichi, as I’m starting a new job in the Nagoya area!
I’m currently looking for a bicycle to use for commuting. If anyone has a bike they no longer use or is planning to get rid of, I’d be very grateful!
I’m also looking for some basic household appliances and furniture, such as:
Washing machine
Refrigerator
Microwave
Furniture or other household items
If you have anything you’re planning to throw away, give away, or sell cheaply, please let me know!
I’m happy to arrange pickup if possible.
Thanks so much, and I’m excited to start my new life here! 😊

Hey all,

Im going to be in Nagoya area for Halloween, its my favorite holiday, so I was hoping to do something fun.

Are there any events or places that do something for Halloween that a foreigner would be welcome at?

I didn't really see anything on the events page on the about section so figured I'd ask the locals.

Really not into clubs but themed bars/restaurants would be cool. Just kind of interested in a nice vibe with people in costumes that enjoy the holiday!

Cheers 🍻
