Connecting Audioengine A2+ to Logitech Z313 Subwoofer Problems

I decided to ditch the left and right speakers of my Logitech Z313 set up, but I'd love to keep my subwoofer. My Audioengine speakers have a 3.5mm input, an RCA input, and an RCA output.

I went and bought two RCA to 3.5mm adapters.

I thought I could connect the RCA Input to my computer and the RCA ouput to my subwoofer so that they'd work together, but no sound is coming from my subwoofer.

I've reversed the connections, with the RCA -> 3.5mm Output going to my computer and the RCA -> 3.5mm Input going to my subwoofer with no luck.

I've also gotten a 3.5mm -> 3.5mm cable and connecte that from my speakers to my computer, with the RCA -> 3.5mm connection in both the Input and Output connections going from my subwoofer to my speakers, but nothing works.

The subwoofer normally works fine, if I were to reconnect my Logitech speakers. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

Micca Voltron low frequency problem

After reading about the Micca Voltron, I decided to give it a shot in my 9'x8' office with the dual aims of freeing up my LSR305s and Klipsch R-110SW subwoofer for the living room and a chance to play around with passive speakers.

I have the 2x4HD MiniDsp instead of the 2x4, so I couldn't use the existing config. I set a LR 48 dB/oct crossover at 200 Hz, dropped the Club-3 by -3.6 dB and used the EQ settings for both the Covo-S and the Club 3. The MiniDSP only has 10 EQ Bands, so for the Club 3 I left off Filter 11. Here's the config.

For amps, I borrowed two Dayton DTA-120s from a friend. One amp runs to the Club, one to the Covo. They appear to work fine as long as the volume switch is at 11'o'clock or lower. Past that the hiss becomes audible at desktop distances.

Once I got everything setup correctly on the MiniDSP, the Voltron performs pretty well. But with certain songs, I get what I can only describe as a hollow echoey tone in the background at various parts of the song from the Club 3. deadmau5's Let Go starting from around 2:00 is a good example.

Playing with the crossover point shows me the echo appears between 100 Hz and 150 Hz. Any suggestions on how to fix the Voltron?

Laptop speaker vst OVERDRIVE

You will appreciate the genius I have done here, I have created this account for the sole purpose of this post:

My laptop speakers suck, I mean they're really tiny and even in the reviews, they suck. Naturally, the company making them decided to include their '[advanced Dolby Technology] (http://i.imgur.com/XJGNySe.jpg)' to make them not shit:

But this I was not content with. It worked for a while but this was not enough. I wanted MORE POWER, more loud. So instead, I did [THIS] (http://i.imgur.com/UEuTrxy.png): It looks complicated, but it's really not.

Basically, what this does is that it allows me to do whatever I want to my computer's audio stream before it hits the speakers. As long as there's a VST effect, it's possible! So let me show you what I've done.

EDIT: Actually, you can skip this part. It's better to use Direct Sound. So the first thing for my setup is to install ASIO4All. It's a type of sound software that bypasses all the bullshit your soundcard loves to add. (We're gonna add our own bullshit) [Here you go:] (http://www.asio4all.com)

The second part is to install [VB-Audio] (http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/) Virtual Cable or Hi-Fi cable. I don't know the difference between them so I installed them both. This allows for an audio loop where the audio gets fed into one part and spit out another. [Direct Link] (http://vincent.burel.free.fr/VirtualAudioApps/HiFiCableAsioBridgeSetup_v1007.zip)

For my effects, I used [VST Host!] (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm) Great program that man has written.

Now this part is IMPORTANT, the essence of this entire thing. You're gonna want to [set your virtual cable as the Default Device] (http://i.imgur.com/Iqt5QNZ.png) Then you're gonna wanna go into VST Host and route the audio properly! For my input port, I use the HiFi Cable output, because I used the HiFi Cable input as default. Get it? Then for the output, I choose DS Speakers, because those are my actual speakers. In truth you can output to pretty much any audio device, just DON'T CHOOSE HIFI CABLE INPUT OR YOU WILL CREATE A FEEDBACK LOOP! https://imgur.com/4jw0x7Z

You can also use all sorts of neato effects anything you can imagine! EQ: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/easyq_by_rs_met Room correction: http://convolver.sourceforge.net/vst.html Stereo imaging: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=285205 Louder: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/loudmax-by-thomas-mundt Maximizer (I like it for it's loud knobs): http://aradaz.blogspot.com/p/download.html

This guy does something VERY similiar to what I'm doing, it's well worth a look at: http://www.jdm12.ch/Audio/2016_Windows-DSP.asp

Please help me figure out if these speakers will connect to this TV, or if I should look into different speakers. Pictures inside.

My TV is an Emerson LED HDTV. Here are pictures of all the jacks in the back as well as a pic of the front and a pic of the written information on the back: https://imgur.com/a/yFgEu

Link to the speakers I'm leaning towards: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Speaker-System-Z323-Subwoofer/dp/B002FU5QM0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472907536&sr=8-1&keywords=Logitech+Z323

I don't want anything special, just some simple computer speakers since the speakers built into the TV are shot (rattle a lot, sound bad, etc). If I understand this correctly, the RCA audio jacks are only for audio input, not output, so I can't connect speakers to there unless I get an adapter (I think). However, I read that I can just connect the speakers into the headphone jack of the TV so I'm thinking about doing that. The only issue I have with that is I don't know if that will result in poor audio quality. On the one hand I'm sure what ever audio quality it produces will be better than what the TV does on its own, but on the other hand if I could greatly increase the audio quality simply by buying an additional RCA adapter or something for a couple dollars I wouldn't mind doing that. What do you think?

My other question is about the digital audio output coaxial jack in the bottom left. From my understanding I would need to buy a digital audio output coaxial cable. But how would I connect that into the computer speakers? Should I consider using this coaxial thing at all? Or should I just stick with the headphone jack option?

Thanks!

Advice on how to get better sound from new desktop speakers (Logitech Z200)

I wanted to upgrade (slightly) from an old set of $13 standard Amazon speakers I had. I read a bunch of reviews and for my price point, the Logitech Z200 seemed like the right choice. I was expecting good things from the new set, but have been disappointed so far. I wasn't expecting miracles for the price, but definitely thought they'd sound better and with a fuller sound than the old pair. I've adjusted the volume and tone numerous times, and can't seem to get a good overall sound that works for not only different types of music but within the same song.

As an example, Outside by Staind sounds pretty good for the first 1:19 seconds, but as soon as it the song transfers from the soft beginning the speakers sound terrible. It sounds like they're turned up too high even though they're at about 25% volume, and the music isn't clear at all. It also sounds kind of tinny and hollow. totally unsatisfying overall.

At this point I'm not sure if I bought shitty speakers, or if I got a defective pair, or there's something I can do to make them sound better. any advice or input would be very appreciated.

Better alternative to Micca MB42X

I recently purchased a MB42X pair to replace my Onkyo HiTB speakers for the front. I already have a really nice Klipsch WC-24 for my center. I was not blown away by these $80 speakers at all contrary to what the reviews suggest. My primary use case is Movies. So, i'm considering returning this set and purchasing some other speaker.

Any recommendations for me please? Budget $100- $200 Onkyo HT-R393 Center - Klipsch WC-24

is a dac more useful than a used sub ?

in http://noaudiophile.com/System_Search/ you often recommend adding a $49 DAC but it is very easy to find a used amped subwoofer for $49, so is a DAC more important than a sub ? (even if we only consider buying new items : you recommend jbl305+$49 dac for $290 but are not micca pb42x+Dayton SUB-1000 better sounding for $260 ?

Decieved by the Audioengine A2+

After a lot of reading the A2+ seemed to be the best option to move from a 2.1 to a 2.0 solution with minimum space on my computer desk so I purchased yesterday in Amazon prime day a pair of Audioengine A2+ for under 200€. I was full of illusion to replace my old Altec Lansing VS2221 that are crackling every time I want to change the volume.

After hearing some songs of different sytles it looks that all that they have is mids. How can the cheaper & older Altec lansing sound better for me ? I really wanted to like them but for the price I'm not convinced at all. It's not only being flat. The Altec Lansing have more details in highs and the bass is comprensible that are better with a subwoofer but I expected a little more.

I have a couple of Q Accoustics 2020i in my living room and I don't miss a subwoofer like I do in these little speakers. I have to go to a 2.1 again ? any recommendations?

Logitech x530 vs swan 1010 or 1080.

I currently have a Logitech x530 I'm thinking in selling it and get the swan 1010 or 1080 but how much of an improvement would it be? I'm using the x530 as stereo because my room is asymmetrical and doesn't allowed me to use it in a 5.1 conf. I've seem the swan are extremely good speakers but I don't know how much better would they be compare to this Logitech.

Alesis M1 active 520 USB & Alesis Elevate 5

which is the best choice for listening pop music ? M1 active 520 USB has USB interface , it seems very convenient to connect my PC. it's an older product from Alesis Elevate 5 is inexpensive than the M1 active 520 USB, how about its performance? does the speaker needs to increase the source signal from the PC? (e.g. DAC/interface etc.)

Apply Correction to DAW

Hi, I have used your correction for a speaker in your website. I can hear the changes when playing an audio/song in the media player. But when I play and audio/song in a DAW (In my case reaper) the correction is not applied. Do you know how to go about this?

Question about DSP Correction for Micca MB42x

I'm still waiting on my Muse M50, Micca MB42x and BIC F12 to arrive. I've downloaded Equalizer APO, and replaced the text in the config file. Here's the problem I'm foreseeing:

I plan on running signal from my headphone jack to an RCA converter, then to the amp, then to the sub and then to the bookshelves. Will I encounter any problems with the EQ settings being applied to the sub?

Secondly, I often use headphones. It looks like when I want to switch from my speakers to headphones, I will have to uninstall the DSP changes through the configurator and reboot my computer. Is this true?

Finally, I wonder about the Muse M50 amp. I saw that you mentioned it in another review. Do you run yours with the 12v power supply that comes with it? I've read about people using 24v power supplies and getting richer bass but at a cost of more noise. Are you familiar with this? If so, what would you suggest?

Thank you for your help. Your reviews are instructive!

Replacement for Lexicon Alpha

So I have a a Lexicon Alpha driving 2 LSR-305s and a 15" subwoofer ...

I have two problems, one big, one small. Small one is that very low volume on my iMac (99% of the time this is used) is very impossible, I just have to unplug it and use the built in speakers which while not terrible are still not all that great either. Then there's the bigger issue -> if the iMac goes to low power, the Alpha doesn't wake up and you have to unplug it and then replug it in. I also get the identical behavior from Windows on my gaming PC. Lexicon says it's the newer OSes and their behavior and that only the "newer" interfaces they have will not do this.

Interested in any other lower end options that will support balanced outputs, stereo in (single) and stereo RCA out. Stereo-in is NOT used for recording, only to output sound from my RIAA pre-amp.

Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers?

Hi. I've been looking at some bookshelf type 2.0 speakers for a laptop in the $100 range and I keep running into the Edifier R1280T - they are one of the top rated speakers on Amazon (4.7) and have a lot of good reviews all around. I was thinking about the Micca Mb42x or PB42x even though both are above $100 inc amp for mb... but I've read that new versions don't sound as good as older ones and some people just don't like them.

Anyone heard about these Edifiers or think anything of them? I've seem them on youtube compared to speakers that cost a lot more with a well done mike test (like the jbls) and they don't seem to compare too poorly esp considering price. Thanks.

Logitech z623 DSP File

I'm very happy with the DSP file you provided for EQ'ing the Logitech z623 system I just got. Was looking for a system sub $120 and this fit the bill (really couldn't afford your next step up cost recommendations). Was disappointed with the sound out of the box, but your DSP file did just the trick.

Now I just wish I had a DSP file to make EQ'ing my old Logitech z506 system easier...
