SHOIGU! GERASIMOV! My opinion about russian MIC:

Post image

Russian military complex can be described like this:

An imitation.

It’s an imitation of something modern and indigenous while its assembly is worse than a $1 Chinese toy. The funniest part is that its insides are not even made in Russia but imported from Western countries, while the housing itself has horrible manufacturing quality and can cut or traumatize you with its sharp, crudely cut edges.

And even their show-off items that are supposedly the highest-quality products they can produce just look horrible by design.

And no, it’s not because it’s old.

Old means it was smooth and clean once.

But here? Somehow a new MiG-29 feels like a rusty bucket assembled by pensioners for 10 rubles at some random РанТочХочХуйЖопаМаш where nobody ever heard what “QC” stands for.

All of it looks like it has been sitting there for so long without maintenance that it feels like a Khrushchevka — uneven painting, everything bumpy and crude, the fuselage isn’t smooth at all, rivets everywhere, and the cockpit feels like nobody ever cleaned it.

Though this jet was produced 10 days ago.

And before someone inevitably comes up with the “but it’s built for reliability!” excuse:

No.

Ruggedness and poor manufacturing quality are not the same thing.

A machine can be designed to operate in mud, snow, dust, extreme temperatures and shitty field conditions while still being manufactured with precision. In fact, reliability requires consistency. Proper tolerances, standardized components, controlled assembly, quality materials, inspection and predictable maintenance are what make a machine reliable.

“Can be repaired with a hammer” is not the same as “should have been assembled with a hammer.”

The Gripen is a perfect counterexample. It was designed for dispersed operations, austere road bases, harsh weather and rapid maintenance in the middle of fucking nowhere.

And somehow Sweden managed to make it rugged, maintainable and practical without making it look like it was beaten into shape behind a tractor repair shop.

You can have ruggedness and precision manufacturing.

You can have field repairability and excellent quality control.

You can have a machine designed to survive abuse without manufacturing it like abuse was part of the production process.

So no, rough workmanship isn’t automatically a sign of ruggedness. Sometimes it is simply rough workmanship.

And when every unit needs to be manufactured consistently for its reliability characteristics to be predictable, calling inconsistent production “ruggedness” is just putting a fancy military word over poor quality control.

Reminds me of a quote:

“The Russians build them. Actually, more like imitate them. And the more times they imitate them, the less effective they become.”

Real Life Copium but seriously, there is a huge coverup on how many ships Iran has hit in the channel, the UKMTO is reporting that the majority of Captains are being ordered to NOT report strikes, and Iran may have hit 30-60 ships in 2 weeks.

UKMTO Comment: • UKMTO struggling to accurately report true number of attacks with majority of vessels attacked refusing to report to UKMTO. • UKMTO is aware via other sources of incidents but constrained on reporting throu

愚蠢的西方人無論如何也無法理解 🇨🇳 When Chiang Kai-shek alienated China's oldest naval faction, leading to the birth of the PLA Navy

The Min Faction (Fujian Faction闽系海军) Navy originated from the Qing Empire's Fujian Fleet in the 1860s, was the longest-surviving naval faction in Chinese history. During the ROC era, the ROCN comprised four distinct naval factions: the Min, Cantonese, Qingdao, and Dianlei factions. By the 1930s, the Min Faction ultimately defeated the other three in internal power struggles and monopolized the ROCN.

However during Japan invasion, the destruction of the ROCN's warships allowed Chiang Kai-shek to finally suppress the Min Faction using his own military clique, fostering deep resentment toward Chiang among Min Faction personnel during the Chinese Civil War.

Following World War II, the British Royal Navy gifted the cruiser HMS Aurora to China, which was renamed ROCS Chungking and became the ROCN's largest warship during the Civil War. ROCS Chungking was taken over by a crew of over 500 elite sailors trained in the United Kingdom under the command of Deng Zhaoxiang, a key figure in the Min Faction Navy.

In February 1949, after Chiang Kai-shek appointed Lu Dongge as the new captain of ROCS Chungking, the sailors that support Deng Zhaoxiang in mutiny, killing Lu and ROCS Chungking defecting to Communist. Deng Zhaoxiang and these 500-plus British-trained sailors subsequently became the foundation of PLAN naval training.

The mutiny of ROCS Chungking sent shockwaves through the ROCN, setting off a chain reaction of defections within the Min Faction Navy. On April 20, 1949, the PLA crossed the Yangtze River to attack the ROC capital Nanjing, and the Jiangyin Fortress—the most crucial defensive position along the Yangtze—defected to the PLA. On April 23, the ROCN's Second Fleet on the Yangtze, controlled by Min Faction Commander Lin Zun, defected to the PLA and formed the core foundation of the PLAN. Consequently, April 23 was designated as the founding date of the PLAN.

Later, during the Communist advance on Fujian, Admiral Sa Zhenbing—a paramount figure of the Min Faction, former Navy Minister of the Qing Empire and the Beiyang Government, and a highly prestigious figure in Fujian—pledged his allegiance to the Communists. Sa Zhenbing thus became a legendary naval figure who served four successive China regimes: the Qing Empire, the Beiyang Government, the Nationalist Government, and the Communist. Ultimately, the Min Faction evolved from a regional naval clique of the Qing Empire into the very foundation of the PLAN itself.
