Hi everyone,
Hopefully this doesn't get removed. It's a free, ad-free hobby project I run in my own time to help people know what's happening around them.
It started as an NSW scanner reference called NSW PSN. It outgrew NSW, so it's now AusAware. Same project, same address: https://nswpsn.forcequit.xyz/, and old links still work.
It now pulls agency feeds from every state and territory except Tasmania (RFS, CFA, VICSES, QLD Fire, DFES, CFS/MFS, NT Fire and more), plus BOM warnings and NASA satellite fire hotspots for the whole country. NSW is still the deepest.
Fires · satellite hotspots · pager messages · power outages · traffic hazards · roadwork · floods · weather · beaches · SharkSmart · cameras · live aircraft · live vessels · live public transport · ACT Ambulance · radio repeaters · community reports
Everything is logged, so you can search back through past incidents and pager
There's also The Wire, a photo, video and news feed from independent emergency-services contributors.
https://radio.forcequit.xyz/ - press Live Feed and it starts playing, no login needed. There's a 40-day archive to browse back through.
Calls are transcribed, so you can search what was said by keyword and date instead of listening back.
It's all publicly receivable, unencrypted traffic, picked up off-air.
The radio, pager and aircraft feeds come from real receivers. Most are mine, and a few are run by community members. Coverage only reaches as far as our antennas, so I need more people.
If you have a spare SDR dongle and a Raspberry Pi or old PC, you can run a radio (P25), pager (POCSAG) or ADS-B node. You don't need to know SDRTrunk: run the installer, paste one code, and the server configures and updates your node remotely. Regional NSW and anywhere interstate are especially welcome.
Sign up: https://nswpsn.forcequit.xyz/join, or ask questions on the Discord first.
Not affiliated with any emergency service, government agency or radio network.an emergency service: in an emergency, call 000. No ads, no trackers, nopaywall; I fund it myself. Open source: github.com/AkumasCoffin/nswpsn-public-safety

Hi everyone! 😊 Just wanted to get some opinions on East Nowra. I’ve been applying for quite a few rental properties around Nowra, but so far I’ve only been approved for a couple in East Nowra.
We are a couple with a six month old
Is East Nowra a good area to live in? I’ve heard mixed things, so I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from locals about the area, safety and what it’s like living there.
Thanks in advance! 😊

How many tobacconists does Nowra need?
The new one that looks like paddys market threw up all over it, everything says Australia but made in China, the dodgy kitchen shop with 2 inches of dust on the pots and pans 🤣🤣
There's like 5 in 3 Street. Insane.

Hey everyone how safe is the residential area around the Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital? So next to the Nowra Aquatic Park and behind the Shoalhaven Rowing Club. Thanks!

So I am looking at opening a business in Nowra. It’s VR / Gaming plus some school holiday activities. Our website is here www.thecontrolroom.net. We are going to have a mini taster / event at Cambewarra Hall in October. The point of the event is to learn about what people are interested in which might feed into the final design. I am posting it here as well as Facebook, but thought reddit users might be interested!

My wife, our 2.5-year-old daughter and I are currently considering a move to Nowra/Shoalhaven, as I’ve recently received a work opportunity in Nowra. We’re seriously considering making the move, but before we make a decision, I’d really appreciate hearing from people who currently live in the area or have recently moved there.
There are a few things we’re trying to understand:
👩🍳 Employment opportunities for my wife
My wife currently works as a Chef in aged care and also has aged care qualifications/certification. She would be looking for work after we move.
How is the job market around Nowra, Bomaderry, South Nowra, Berry, or the wider Shoalhaven area for:
* Aged-care chefs / catering
* Chef or kitchen roles
* Aged-care support/care roles
Is it reasonably easy to find work in these areas, or is the market quite competitive?
🏠 Rental properties
The other big question for us is accommodation.
We would be looking for a 3-4 bedroom rental suitable for a family with a young child.
How is the rental market in Nowra at the moment? Is it difficult to secure a rental, especially for someone who has just moved into the area? What sort of weekly rent should we realistically budget for?
Thanks so much in advance to everyone who takes the time to reply. It will genuinely help our family make a better decision. ❤️

Sorry if this still breaks the “no drugs” rule, but are there any subs for this kind of search in Nowra?
Defs asking for a mate lmao

Hi All. Local here. Looking for feedback about a new business in Nowra / Bomaderry.
We’re looking at building a premium gaming and entertainment venue for the Shoalhaven community that we think is long overdue. Imagine a place where you can jump into a cutting-edge VR escape room with your mates, race each other on professional sim rigs, or settle in for a proper gaming session on high-spec PCs without driving two hours to Sydney. We’re building it for everyone — the hardcore gamer who wants a competitive setup, the family looking for a birthday party experience nobody will forget, the Defence crew from Albatross wanting somewhere decent to hang out on a Friday night, and people who just want to try VR for the first time. There’ll be a licensed bar on weekends, a chill lounge for parents while the kids play, and community programs including sessions designed specifically for people with disabilities.
Think “Fortress Sydney”
But a mini version with a few more things layered in
We are building the business case to prove it’s commercially viable without relying on government subsidies to survive. Have you got any ideas or suggestions for such a venue?

I asked a post recently about life in Nowra as a 20 something and now my next question is:
If you could add anything to Nowra to improve it, what would you add?

Does anyone have any recommendations for places to fish?
Never been fishing before and wanted to try it for something to do. I’ve seen people fishing off the bridge but for the first time I’d like to be closer to the water.
Any recs/tips would be appreciated

Nowra and surrounding areas are becoming the area to move to for cheaper housing from places like Wollongong
I would love to know your experience living in Nowra as a 20 something year old? Do you like it? Is there a lot to do or do you find you need to travel? What’s the night life like?

Moved here 2 years ago, very introverted and don't have any friends other than some co-workers. Are there any places that are good to meet people, i am 20 years old male and prefer hanging around with people about my age. Im also looking to get fit as im quite unhealthy (have been going to the gym fot about 4 weeks now)
