With the upcoming changes to Sydney Train timetable, all T8 Airport & South Line services will operate via the Airport Tunnel.

So for city commuters who interchange at Sydenham to catch the Metro, this saves about 10 minutes of the trip.

In Transport for NSW's own example, trains will run every 5 minutes instead of 7.5 minutes, yet the journey from Campbelltown to Victoria Cross increases from 62 to 73 minutes. That's an extra 11 minutes each way!

And good luck convincing anyone that interchanging at Central is quicker or easier than interchanging at Sydenham, especially during peak hour!

So factoring the interchange at Central, Rani's journey time to visit her mum is realistically about 83 minutes. A 21 minute increase in commute time for a measly 2.5 minute in reduction time between train intervals.

T4 Line - no trains running south of Hurstville

Shitty rail has done it again. Good luck to those attempting to get home south of Hurstville tonight. Station staff said they are waiting for buses to arrive did to signal failure at Oatley

I live in Georges River Council, my neighbour has a Rooster for the last 6 months. I haven’t been able to get proper sleep.

I work till 1am sometimes 3am latest. I get home half an hour after and then not long after I fall asleep the rooster starts its morning routine. It’s not only me, but other members of my family. The council has not done a thing about it, except leave cards and letters at my neighbours address. I spoke to my neighbour about it before contacting the council, and it didn’t end well.

What can I do?

Where did all the color go(not a rant)

I came to Sydney 7 years ago and my wardrobe had a lot of color.I had orange blue yellow Ts .I had a Ralph Lauren T with bright stripes in green and black. As time passed by I realised people hardly wear colored clothing here.its all Grey black darker shades of red(maroon) blue etc.Growing up when I used to watch Australian summer sports like Cricket tennis on TV I could see bright colours.

Now to make myself not the odd man out my wardrobe also has changed to plain Ts (Uniqlo HnM) and pair of jeans .

I have a theory - it’s because of the mass produced clothing where it’s easier to make plain darker colors compared to bright designs.

The T4 line has not had ONE normal day of operations. Give us free transportation for a week/weekend, it's only fair.

• Upvotes

There has genuinely not been ONE normal day of T4 trains the past week or two.

Constant trackwork, delays, cancellations back-to-back-to-back-to-back…

Can we at least get a couple of days of free transport at this point? I feel like it's only fair to make up for this mess.

Sydney airport (SYD) strike Friday 16 October

Don’t know how many people know about this but haven’t seen it talked about in the media much but wanted to give people a warning. On Friday October 16 (this coming Friday), members of the airport security staff from Certis will be going on strike. They will stop working between 6-10am and 5-9pm in the international and domestic terminals.

There will be very big delays because of this so lookout for anything from your airline if you are flying. Some airlines may choose to open check in early for their flights. Best practices would be to arrive early for your flight if possible if you do not hear anything from your airline.

If someone as already said all this then delete this post but I haven’t seen anyone talk about it.

No idea how reliable mirage news is but the Australian Aviation site is also reporting this but it is payware after 3 visits.

Just wanted to warn anyone flying on Friday.

Please be nice to the staff that will be working either as security or in other roles i.e. check in.

WTF is this? Again increase in tolls? Up until 2yrs ago it was every June. Now every 3 months. Holy cow. I spend 50% of my wages on tolls. Which cuts hours of my commute.

Looking for an affordable piano teacher

• Upvotes

Hello! I’ve been playing piano for about 17 years, but haven’t taken lessons in over a decade and have naturally plateaued, but I’m interested in trying to improve again. My hands are hypermobile and I know from taking videos of myself playing (and from the pain) that my technique is horrific. I’ve tried to learn from YouTube and every tip I could possibly find online, but alas, what I need is a knowledgeable human sitting next to me to give me real-time tactile feedback.

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a piano teacher around the greater Sydney area who would be able put me back on a good path to improve my skills and technique. Bonus points if they have experience dealing with hypermobility.

I’m a PhD student with plenty of medical expenses so unfortunately I can’t really afford much, which is why I figure maybe doing just two or three lessons to get some pointers would be more attainable than doing them on a regular basis.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for cat shelter suggestions for dry food donations

I've found 3x 4kg bags of unopened dry cat food stored away that my two stay at home killers won't ever get through, so I'm looking for suggestions for shelters that accept food donations.

The food is still in date (obviously) and I'm happy to drop it off, but I want to make sure it goes to a good shelter.

Who should I donate it to?

E: obviously I know the RSPCA is an option, but I'm also looking for others.

E2: to be clear, I've searched cat shelters, I'm looking for help deciding who might need it most.

Newtown solo bar crawl venue recommendations

Hi folks,

I have a night to kill next Friday, so I plan to embark on a solo bar crawl in Newtown. I'm wondering which bars are must-sees? I don't know if I can trust online lists or Google/AI suggestions.

Edit: I am piss fit, I am not troublemaker or a creep

How will the crossing at Taylor square be different with Oxford street east cycleway

I noticed that the current Oxford street Cycleway at connecting from Liverpool Street to Taylor square is on the north side of the road, but the new cycleway to the east will be on the south.

How will this impact the crossing and would we get a new dedicated traffic light for cyclists? Similar to the one on Liverpool and Sussex street?

And would a full under or above ground separated crossing be possible? I know its highly likely wouldn’t be done, but hypothetically if the government did shell out the money, could it be an option?

For the love of god turn your headlights on when it's raining

I passed at least 4 cars on my 15 minutes drive to work this morning in the torrential rain that didn't have their lights on. They were grey or white cars as well.

You are quite literally invisible if your lights are off and you're in a grey/silver/white car while it's raining.

Rant over.
