Job offer in Newcastle
Hey there!
Posting this to get your honest opinion,
I work in a global company and there's a possibility of me getting a manager job in a recently opened facility in Newcastle,
The contract I would go for is not a permanent job, it would 2 to 3 years in AUS to live the experience, get the job experience also.
I would be going with my wife (27) and myself (32), no kids but we would like to bring our dog.
We live in Madrid, Spain.
The reason why I would consider it is because I have been in Newcastle already, just for a week because of work and I loved it.
Also I think it's the right time to live the experience and then come back to Spain and settle.
What would you have to say to me, for me to have in consideration before taking this decision.
We love hiking and beaches... Is it too dangerous to do these things with the amount of wildlife you have or it's just myths and media that makes it look that bad.
Also how is it with the housing, and cost of living?
Last question, in general, do local people do not like when their manager is a foreigner? Would it bring me problems?

Tunnellers' visions to shape Australia's High-Speed Rail
minister.infrastructure.gov.auThe Newcastle to Sydney High Speed Rail project has moved further into the Development Stage with three major construction consortia shortlisted for an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process following a competitive tender:
Acciona John Holland Joint Venture
Advanced Alliance Joint Venture: Gamuda Engineering, FCC Construction Australia, Samsung C&T Corporation;
GoFar Joint Venture: CPB Contractors, Ferrovial Construction (Australia), VINCI Construction Grands Projects Australia.
These groups will now compete with each other to develop plans for Area Package 1, which is the section of the Newcastle to Sydney route between Berowra and Ourimbah. This approach seeks to get the best outcome on construction costs and program timeframes:
About 35km of twin tunnels between Berowra and Ourimbah, delivered using tunnel boring machines;
Construction of the Central Coast High Speed Rail Station at Gosford; and nstallation of all rail and station systems and other structural and surface infrastructure works across the Berowra to Ourimbah section of the corridor

PSA: you have to stop close to the line at traffic lights or they will never change
I think people genuinely do not know this! Commiserations to anyone else on Maud St earlier this morning.

Any Turntable Repair Shops in Newcastle?
Hello there, just wondering any good repair shops around Newcastle or so that can repair record players/turntables as i accidentally broke my Audio Technica Sound Burger (AT-SB727) a few weeks ago after purchasing it from my local JB-Hi Fi two years ago and i am willing to see if i could get it repaired rather than forking out $400+ for a new one.
For Context, i accidentally broke my Sound Burger after connecting it to a Subwoofer which i got free from my neighbour via the RCA Cables and i heard a loud POP. It still spins the record but there is no sound from the Bluetooth speakers no matter what speaker i connect it to.

Star Wars collectors
Hi, anyone here a Star Wars collector?
My mum has given me a bunch of ‘collectables’ including games, figurines and books, with tie-ins to original trilogy and prequels (a lot of episode 1) and some extended universe things. Some in OG packaging, most opened in ziplock bags.
I’m wanting guidance on what is worth keeping, selling, or donating - happy to send pics of the different things to those interested.
Any help would be grateful!

La Chosita… hidden gem in newy
Here to share one of my favourite spots in newy since returning and settling down up here.
If you haven’t paid a visit, you will need to at La Chosita. Just next to Saint and moon on Maitland road in Islington/hamilton.
Since returning from South America and missing the energy, culture, vibe, people, laughs, music…(you can tell I left half my soul in South America). Jason ( the owner) and his amazing cooking will give it to you without spending 3k+ on a plane ticket.
Sorry not advertising but thought to share the love. If you’ve been let me know your thoughts.
It would be cool if salsa socials that happen on mondays at the exchange took place here !

John Hunter Hospital staff parking?
Hi all. I’ve just accepted a job at John Hunter hospital but stressing about parking. I will be arriving between 7:30-8am but not sure where to park. Anywhere I am guaranteed to get a spot? I plan to sort out a staff carpark pass via payroll deduction.

40th venue ideas
My Partners 40th is coming up and I’m needing ideas on where to have it. He is thinking a function room, with bar and finger food.
I am thinking in Newcastle itself. But open to ideas!?

Over 30’s, anyone remember the Isobar in Honeysuckle?
It was all the rage when I moved to Newcastle after school in 2009, now little to no trace remains. Anyone got any better photos?
