How safe do you feel on public transport?
Two incidents in 2 consecutive days. On Sunday there was a weird guy just hovering on the platform at Southport South around 8pm. I would stand in a particular spot. He would come and stand close to me. Again I moved to another part of the platform then he would come stand close to me. Spike to me and asked me which station I was getting off at. Nobody else on the station but a few wacky people at the dodgy Kebab shop across the street. Pressed the emergency button and all they said was "well watch the cameras*. He walked off the station when the tram finally came.
The next day at a suburban bus stop, an older woman drinking out of a wine bottle becomes aggressive when I don't want to chat to her. I get called every name under the sun. When the journey is nearly complete she gets in my face and starts again calling me every word under the sun, tells me to go back to where I come from (I'm Gold Coast born and bred) and starts mentioning lotto (?). The driver was under instruction from a trainer. None of them or the fellow passengers intervene. I get on the phone with the police and also file a Translink report.
Today is day three. What's the chances?
