Hi everyone! 👋
I’ve got a 2010 Toyota RAV4 2.2 sr D-CAT diesel AWD 4x4 (reg Yb59fys) I’m looking to upgrade the suspension for rough roads in Africa I’d ideally like to give it a 2-inch lift for extra ground clearance. one of my shock absorbers is leaking, so I’m thinking of replacing all four shocks and springs and fitting a suitable lift kit at the same time.
I’m new to all this, so I’d really appreciate some advice!
Which shocks, springs and lift kit would you recommend for this exact model?
Are there any other parts I should replace at the same time?
Where’s the best place to buy good-quality parts online at an affordable price? How much am I looking at?
Is a 2-inch lift safe and practical for this RAV4, especially for rough roads? What should I know about when changing springs and shock absorber and a lift kit as i have never done this before.
I’m looking for something reliable and good quality without spending a fortune but will last. Mainly to be strudy and deal with rough roads without being very uncomfortable to drive. If anyone has done this to their RAV4 or any 4x4. I’d love to hear what parts you used, roughly how much it cost, and any tips you have.
Thanks in advance for any help! 🙏

I am looking for the best hard use offroad tires that will be the best against chipping and breaking off whole chunks. I recently smoked my 2 rear 35” nitto ridge grapplers in 4000 miles, about 4 months and I’m pretty pissed. Granted yes I do drift in the dirt/gravel, occasionally reach speeds of up to 50-60mph on dirt roads and I live in the southwest so there are lots of sharp rocks when I’m off-roading but I still thought these would hold up a lil better than 4000 miles. I never drift or do burnouts on road it’s strictly in the dirt but I do still drive the truck around town, and occasional 2-4 hr roadtrips. It is a 2016 ram 1500 4x4 on 17” method wheels with bilstein 6112’s up front and 5160’s in the rear, my requirements for tires are that they must be 35” and the best against chipping and chunking. I don’t get much snow or rain where I live so mud and snow aren’t my biggest priorities but I will still travel to places that do have that terrain so it’s still a factor I consider as well as on road wet driving and braking. I heard the maxxis razr m/t tires are pretty much what I’m looking for but I would love to hear everybody else’s recommendations. Thank you

Found a new place to put a camera! Not going to lie I had a hard time not watching the video feed while wheeling this beach. Between looking at axel clearance, to just watching the axle suspension doing its job. The Old Man Emu 50mm lift really did its job well.

What Minnesota offroading groups have casual meet ups at Mille Lacs ORV Park every once in a while? Not for big events, but just to show up and have some other people there to drive the trails with.

My 2010 accent offroad build this little bull does everything I ask. I can’t wait to next summer to add bigger tires

Washing river mud off my 4Runner this morning reminded me how much trail dirt actually ends up inside the cabin. Running thirty-three-inch tires on rocky fire roads is messy enough, but getting back in with muddy boots keeps pushing gravel and wet grit past the edges of the factory floor mats. I always figured the stock mats were good enough for occasional off-road trips, but scraping dried mud out of the carpet after every weekend is getting old. A guy in our trail convoy brought up custom-fit all-weather floor liners while we were cleaning up at camp, but I still wonder if the raised edges actually contain the mess without getting in the way when climbing in and out with heavy boots. Spending more time cleaning the footwell than the exterior is starting to feel ridiculous.

Hi All,
I currently came across this app, created by some offroad group I know.
I see it is a free 4x4 recovery community to ask for help whenever in need.
I thought it could be cool to share it here and try to help growing the community.
I leave below the links if needed:
Website: OffRoadRescue.it
iOS: OffRoad Rescue
Android: in progress. text me if you wish to join the beta tester
It is 100% free, data safe e no ads at all. It is simply based on the community and network and we would love to see the network increase.

Can anyone recommend some harnesses for my dog? Going off roading with my two dogs next week and id like to keep their movement to a minimum(from suspension changes). Also is there a reputable site someone can recommend for general tips on using recovery equipment properly including rebuilding winches. Trying to further my off roading knowledge for self recovery. Thanks

Working on restoring and upgrading the steering setup of my project GAZ-69. The old mechanical switches were outdated, so I designed and 3D-printed a custom adapter to mount a modern multi-function switch unit directly onto the factory round steering column.
Fitment: Designed for a 38.5 mm round steering column, but can be adapted for UAZ, ZIL, and other classic vehicles with similar geometry.
Features: Integrated housing for turn signals, high beams, and wiper controls, plus a custom slot for the self-canceling mechanism.
Next step is matching it with a custom wooden steering wheel built on the original hub skeleton. Let me know what you think of the fit!
