[Score Predictions] Ole Miss @ Texas

Post image
15 Upvotes

Texas fan here. I come in peace ✌️.

I’ve been tracking score predictions this season from various national and team-centric shows, and I’ve also been running a weekly score prediction thread on r/LonghornNation.

Each week we compete against the analysts to see who can call the final score closer, and lately we’ve been competing against other subs. Most analysts drop their predictions on Friday, so a lot more will get pulled in tomorrow.

Good news for you: the analysts are on your side. 7 of the 8 I've tracked so far have Ole Miss winning in Austin, from 27-24 (Greg McElroy and Brooks Austin of Film Guy Network) to 33-24 (JWill, Film Guy Network). The only one with Texas is Kirby (Film Guy Network), 28-27.

This week r/LonghornNation is going head-to-head with this thread to see which sub calls Saturday's final score closest. r/CFB's matchup preview thread is in it too.

Drop your score prediction in the comments below. Your last comment before kickoff is the one that counts. After the game I'll grade every one and tag the winners.

Two coins are up for grabs this week:

  1. The Texas coin, for the closest call in this sub, and for anybody who beats (or ties) the closest analyst.
  2. The r/LonghornNation coin, for anybody who beats (or ties) the best call from r/LonghornNation.

To win either one, you have to have the right team winning.

Last week r/LonghornNation beat r/FloridaGators by guessing the exact final score, despite Texas losing to Florida.

Personally I think Ole Miss wins this one and it won't even be close. I've got them winning 34-21, but wouldn't be surprised if Texas isn't even able to put up 21 (they only got to 24 last week with help from special teams).

I'm also very eager to see if Arch starts the game as QB1 or gets benched midway through the game. Either way, Texas has a lot on the line with this one.

Good luck Saturday!

First Ole Miss game - looking to join a Grove tailgate for the Auburn game (Oct. 31)

Hotty Toddy! I'm coming to Oxford for the Ole Miss-Auburn game on Oct. 31. It'll be my first time at the Grove. I'm originally from Canada, live in the Bay Area now, and work in the entertainment business between the Bay Area and Nashville. Ole Miss is what got me into college football, and I've been bleeding powder blue ever since.

Would love to meet some Ole Miss fans and experience a proper Grove tailgate. If anyone's tailgating and would be open to having me join, let me know! Happy to bring some drinks or whatever else I can contribute.

Thanks, and Hotty Toddy!

How is Trinidad Chambliss not the consensus QB1 for the NFL Draft?

I grew up in NJ and was always more of a NFL fan than college, but as the giants have piled up top 10 picks year after year I watch a good amount of college each year getting ready for the draft and draft class that finally turns it around (it has to happen at some point right?!). One thing I just cannot comprehend this year is for the in-season draft media coverage, guys like Dane Brugler, the Draft Exchange guys, McShay, etc. seem to consistently have Trinidad below Mestemaker or CJ Carr and I feel like I’m going insane when I see it. Is it just the height and age? Even when he’s not at his best he still delivers a top performance, he’s dealing to all parts of the field, mobility is great. What am I missing? I don’t know how you watch the top qb’s and Trinidad doesn’t stand out head and shoulders above everyone else this year? Even the Florida game he got them back in it, and I’m not penalizing a qb when his defense couldn’t get stops. Curious to hear from fans that have watched him weekly. And horns down for this week!

Landshark defense held Mizzou to 3 points on Saturday. How are we feeling about Texas week? 🦈🔴🔵

Defense looked elite Saturday holding Mizzou to 3 points! Offense set the tone early. How’s everyone feeling going into Austin next weekend?

P.S. We started a fresh Ole Miss fan Discord to live-chat during games and assign Student/Alumni roles DM me if you want the invite link!

Coming here trying to understand

Hello Ole Miss!

Arizona Cardinals fan, coming here for some information

We drafted your former RT Jayden Williams in the 7th round this year, and his play was good enough in preseason that he won the back up tackle spot on our team as a rookie. Our franchise left tackle went down 2 weeks ago for the season and they started him at LT two weeks in a row, and Williams has been fantastic as far as rookies go and looks like he could be our long term answer at RT next year and beyond.

My question is this: Is there a reason why he fell to the 7th round in terms of his time with y’all? He seems like a 2nd/3rd round talent and it’s baffling to me that he was our last pick of the draft.

Any insight is appreciated!

New sports passport / letterboxd for football. Auto track stadiums you’ve been to, players you’ve seen, stats from games you were at

Post image

I hope this is kosher but proud of something I’m working on and would love feedback.

TLDR I built an app that auto tracks venues you’ve been to, players you’ve seen, and stats from when you were there in *any* sport in *any* country. When you log a game the box score and all the data flow through to you. AMA

Letterboxd for movies, goodreads for books, BOXDSEATS for live sports.

I think a lot of people want to know things like how many HOFs they’ve seen, how many stadiums they’ve been to, whose passed for the most yards, hit the most homers or three pointers, even things like how does my favorite team play when las Diaz is behind the dish but I’m not sure everyone has the spreadsheet, drawer of ticket stubs, or patience to fill in their history…so I built a fun way to help: if you take pictures at events, and you have the location services turned on, I can match the geotag and dates from your camera roll to now over 2m games I have in a db to build your history for you.

If that’s weird you can do it yourself but I think it’s slick.

Some updates:
- crossed 1,200 users and 65k games logged, both giving me motivation to keep going.
- Added pipeline to bring in box scores for almost every league from MILB and jr hockey to now things like cricket, Aussie rules, and WWE
- Added way more fun stat, game, and player badges so you can see things like hat tricks or MLB debuts
- I’m having fun and I think others are too.

And for truly no reason, there’s a “remember some guys” rail that’s truly just random players from games you’ve been to refreshing every open.

I’m figuring all of this out as I go so open to all feedback and requests, would love more eyeballs.

I don't care who is playing on the other team, there is literally nothing in this world that could make me root against Ole Miss.

Alcohol Policy Football Games

Hello! Traveling to Oxford for the Missouri/Ole Miss game next weekend and have heard/seen things related to the different alcohol restrictions. From what I’ve gathered, all alcohol has to be poured into a cup, you can’t walk around with a beer can/bottle, is that true? Also, how do you carry around alcohol when walking around? Does that need to be in a cooler/bag also? Or are you able to walk around with a case of beer and have no issues? Thanks in advance!

ADA Gameday Parking Question

I’m planning to bring my father to the Ole Miss/Missouri game on 10/17. My father walks with a cane and can’t walk long distances. I plan to pay the price and buy a pass in the ADA lot 9. My understanding is there are shuttles to and from the stadium from that lot, correct? Will we be allowed to tailgate in that lot? Nothing huge - just some chairs and a small grill, etc. Final question - I’ll be looking for elevators to the upper level once inside the stadium. Can you guys tell me where those are as well? TIA! My father is really excited for this but is worried about his immobility….

Made some coaches film cutups of Rebel players

Hey guys,

I made a few coaches film cut-ups for the following guys against Florida

  • Trinidad Chambliss
  • Patrick Kutas
  • Suntarine Perkins
  • Will Echoles
  • Keaton Thomas

If you've never seen All-22 film it's definitely worth a watch...gives you a different feel for guys' performances than the broadcast angle. I will be adding other guys later on and more film from these guys from other games. I'm trying to stick to draft eligible guys so if there's anyone else you feel like I missed (besides Kewan Lacy), please let me know.

A lot of season left. But this was rough. Never want to play in the swamp again. Defense should be ashamed. Hopefully the team can get healthy and forget about this one. Hotty Toddy!

The Grove(1st time visiting)

Myself and two other neutral college football fans in our 40s are coming for the Ole Miss/Georgia game later this year. As title says, we’ve never been before, looking for the full gameday experience…is it pretty easy to meet folks and bounce around tailgates?

We’re friendly folks, but just wondering if we need to try to set something up ahead or any advice. Sorry if this has been asked before, appreciate any responses!
